Just don't shoot bowling pins with lightly loaded flat point ammo... my right shin has a funny story about a 148gr HBWC last year. I was really amazed at how tough those pins are when I first started shooting them. It takes a good amount of solid hits to bust 'em up. I love diggin' the bullets out of 'em, too! When I get a frsh set of them again sometime, I'm going to line them up about 6-7 deep and see how many pins a .223 and 7.62x54r can go through and through! I think that oughtta be the new FBI criteria... "to be considered adequate, a round must penetrate a minimum of 3 consecutive bowling pins through their thickest portion, and retain 80% of their original bullet weight..."

Well hey, I ain't shy. Rightwinger, if you've got .38 just takin' up valuable real estate at your place, I'll be glad to get it out of the way for you! I may be out cruising in the mornings with my Dad this Friday and Saturday. May be a good reason to visit a place I've never been before!

???? sounds like gunshop myth to me. Smith hasn't made an I-frame in decades, I don't believe. Do you mean some kind of new joint venture? I'd like to see S&W make a pocket rocket like the KT/LCP, though. But I dunno what other kind of debacle they want to get into right now. Witness... the I-bolt rifle! Still haven't seen their shotties on store racks. I just wish they'd make a 6 round j frame 327.... or bring back the 3rd gen autos.

Awesome! Glad to see this posted... does my heart good! I like your reply too, RW!

Hey guys and gals... My Mom and Dad are flying in Jan 1-4 (wednesday through Sunday) and I want to try and find a good ranch/stable to take my mom to visit see some horses and maybe go for a short ride. She absolutely LOVES horses, and her life dream has been to have one. I'd love it if I could find a place to take her. She has back problems (pretty major surgery earlier this year) and will need a box/stand or something to help her get on the horse, and once she's on she'll probably only be good for a 5-10 minute ride. Do any of you know somebody in MidTN that could help? I've called about 5 places and none have been very helpful, or even cordial. Maybe it's me? If any of YOU have your own horse and riding area, would you be willing to let us come over for 20 minutes or so on the 2nd or 3rd? I'll be glad to pay going rates or whatever. We'd be happy to drive anywhere within an hour or so of Rutherford County. Thanks!

Works beautifully for me, thanks! -
Hey guys, I appreciate all the support on this idea. I'd also like to keep this strictly a donation-only kinda' thing. I'm going to lock this thread now, so if you have something you'd like to give to help someone else out, go ahead and make your own post here in the ammo/reloading section saying so. If you want to do a trade, please post that up in the classifieds, as you are not really giving anything away in that case. Thanks so much, guys!

Hey Mikey, Barry Tidwell of Price and Tidwell in murfreesboro is a friend of mine, and a darn good lawyer. You can call him at 893-1239, or reach him at barrytidwell at comcast.net Barry does free consultations to get some info on the situation and to see if it's something that he can help with. If it's not something he can help with, or not something to be handled by a lawyer at all, he'll be honest with you. When you call, make sure to ask for Barry, and tell him James from Farmers Insurance up in Smyrna sent you. I hope things are going OK with you, and I hope Baryy can help. Take care man!

what kind of .22 rifle is it?
-
.... and no cylinder gap, which really makes a difference
-
Congrats!! You've started off right! My offer to come over and run off a few on my setup still stands. Enjoy!

Yep, BNI! We're the new Smyrna 7AM tuesday chapter. It's been pretty good for me so far. What about you?

Tuesdays I get up earlier (usually 5:45-6am) for meeting at 6:45 with a business group I'm a part of. My wife is up every morning at 6 to get ready for school (she's a teacher) so it's no biggie most weeks. Well, she's on break now, and somehow I set my alarm for 6:47 am, not the 5:50 I meant to! Kelley's roold over this morning and says "you know it's 6:30, right?" I jumped outta bed pretty darn quick! I made it there about 5 minutes late, but it's all good!

Ruger Bearcat... in the $200's I think

We'll be adding Shelby to our prayer list at church tomorrow, and you and the rest of the family too. Take care guys, and you know we're all here if you need anything. God Bless you.

That is a good deal. I payed $289+t/bg for mine about 3 years ago.

Your disagreement with him hasn't changed, but what you think he should have done obviously has. My friend, I've been reading this all long, and I loves me some popcorn (kettle corn is AWESOME!) I just happen to have not jumped in earlier, and unlike you, I haven't said things that I now need to go back and change. Did you not tell the man that he should have just called 911 and go on his merry way in one post, then in another post say that he shouldn't have called 911? Or is my quote feature not working properly? As to what I would have done... well, I'm generally a bit more passive than most when I'm not feeling threatened, but if I had just gone through what the OP had and then this same situation happened on my street, I would probably have done something similar. I grew up in the hood in Miami and spent a good few nights watching out the window, taking notes, and have actually done nearly this same thing twice at about 1-2AM. Actually helped catch a couple teenage thieves that broke in across the street once. You stay home and call the non-emergency number if it won't interrupt your partying. Some of the others of us will actually take some initiative and try to ward off thieves and miscreants.

I've just decided that it's all a crapshoot when it come to reliability. In three years I've had four guns crap out on me. One of those occasions was due to bad ammo (stay away from Ultramax!) but the rest were pure mechanical breakdown. The latest event was the firing pin on my S&W 629 breaking. It has now been fixed and I'm happy, but I will never say that a gun is 100% reliable. However, I'm not afraid to carry any of my guns either, once the problem has been fixed. You just can never predict when something is going to go wrong with a mechanical object. That's why you need to carry 2 or more guns, right! But seriously, let us know how Springfield does with your piece. Smith treated me very well with my recent service, and I expect you'll get the same. You do still have your Glocks, right? I remember you were condensing down to one caliber, but you have a few different guns in .40 to hold you over for now, right? Just curious, later!
