I'd like to clarify that my heart goes out to those directly affected by this tragedy and that although I usually can be somewhat heartless even I was more than shook up by this. As I said originally I was not trying to bring up any political issues about how stricter gun control is not the answer, about what Obama will do or any of that nonsense. I posted it in the political issues forum because it had to do with the president. After his addressing the issue I was incredibly shocked to see what seemed to me as him faking emotion and robotically reading from cue cards with less emotion then he has shown anytime he's blasted Congress for not passing some bill of his, or that he showed during the debates. I was merely curious as to whether or not I was mistakenly percieving this or it seemed to others to be happening as well.

I'm not posting this to politicize anything about it, it is far too soon for that. I saw Obama's televised reaction and it just seemed to me that his physical reactions were being faked. I'm curious, did anybody else get that feeling, or am I just seeing things?

But more importantly, if the Constitution told you to jump off a bridge, would you do it? I didn’t think so. I'm pretty sure the jumping off a bridge argument stopped working on people around age 8. Seriously, that's just crap parents use when their kids want something because everybody else has it. It doesn't even fit in the context. In what rational world do people draft governing documents telling people to jump off of bridges hundreds of years later? Oh wait, none. It must only happen in that special little world that he mentioned he lives in, that seems to work a lot like Whose Line is is Anyway. The rules are made up and the points don't matter. Like his argument.

John Kerry as the next Secretary of Defense?

I would jokingly ask if this administration is actively TRYING to weaken/destroy this country but it worries me how little of a joke that actually is. I bet the happiest man in the world on Nov. 6th was Putin. -
I don't know as much about knives as I would like, but I can see that this thing is SHARP. Fortunately I was careful enough not to leave proof to show like UncleJaks.

You jest. It seems those in TN must be unfamiliar with the story of Squelthor Lord of The Squirrels. Some dude at LSU used to have his girlfriend sneak up to his dorm room by throwing his id card out the window to her. One night a squirrel jumps out of the bush and runs off with his student id before she can grab it. So the genius writes to the LSU paper about it. Instead of a proper response they let the opinion writer do a whole fake piece about Squelthor Lord of The Squirrels to mock this guy.

Also, specifically petitioning the Obama administration makes it sound like it would only last during Obama's presidency. I would adress simply to the Federal government.

It'd be nice if it listed the reasons why secession was being desired.

I think I'm going to start keeping a close eye on Kwik and his activities. If something like this actually happens and people start disappearing in black bags, I have to imagine he would be one of the first.

Your prep stash is lost, everything gone... Now what?

Without a family to worry about I'd say go for the Butch Cassidy/Sundance Kid ending. That being said, at this point you either have enough knowledge of the outdoors to hide out and survive in the forests, or you starve trying. -
I knew I should've bought that belt fed .308 instead of planned for the future.

His book "Constitution in Exile" is an excellent read. It was after reading that that I realized Lincoln was as much of a tyrant as he could get away with.

Miles, about 150,000. I knew it wouldn't be perfect when I bought it but it seems like it literally comes out of the shop only to make a new noise the next day. I'm not worried about the ac leak as it doesn't affect an essential function. It is possible it was involved in a wreck that he didn't tell me about. There's a decent amount of body damage but again, nonessential so wasn't a concern, the Ford logo on the steering wheel is cracked and bent and I've been suspecting that that was a result of airbag deployment.

Yeah I figured. I was just bein hopeful. I'm starting to wish somebody would run a redlight into this POS. (the car not the dealer)

2000 Ford Taurus. It's the 3.0L 6cyl flexfuel. The dealer told it was an 01. I'm not sure if he was trying to rip me off with that or if he was honestly that stupid that he didn't know. He represented it as having no issues other then an AC leak, had just replaced the brake pads and the battery but that was all. I can say he was honest about the brake pads. They replaced the pads without realizing the problem was warped rotors and air in the brake line. I've put 4000 miles on this thing and already I've replaced a leaking radiator reservoir, the aforementioned front rotors, and practically then entire rear brakes after the adjusters recently came loose and the whole freaking thing pretty much came apart.

Looking into the lemon law details about used car sales for one that just keeps crapping out. Also, I'm starting to suspect the dealer showed me bogus carfax (Pulled up carfax on a different vehicle and then showed that to me). I'm getting close to taking it back and demanding my money back, some legal precedent would be helpful.

As much charity work as I hear about being done by members here on TGO, I smell an EXCELLENT and truly deserving project. If the next location needs to be built from the ground up, I can say I'd be more than happy to help and I have no doubt several others would say the same. I am of course assuming that this is okay with insurance whatnot. I have no idea but I don't see it being to farfetched for an insurance company to not cover something or increase rates or not want to insure unless they know the building company as a reputable company instead of just a bunch of helpful customers. I'm sure yall are much more familiar with those kinds of details than I am, nevertheless, if there's anything can be done by volunteer work and yall need some bodies, just post about it here on TGO I'm sure you'll get all the help you need.

I had heard about this from my mother. She has a friend who teaches in the psychology department. I had had my doubts until now because I couldn't find ANY trace of a story concerning it.

I was considering using Nashville Sporting Arms, but I know they have that setup with all the belts instead of an actual grindstone. I wasn't sure if that was a good approach for creating a new edge. Don't get me wrong, they're great over there, and I've had plenty of knives sharpened by them in the past, but I'm still wary about using belts to create a new edge.

Thanks. I'll keep it in mind if I can't find anything local.

Anybody?

Looking for knife sharpening services in Middle TN/Nashville area, or someone on TGO who can do this. I got a Woodsman's Pal machete recently. It's beautiful, the only flaw is that it is not sharp all the way to the top corner. I seek to remedy this. Here's a link to the tool itself so you can see what I mean http://www.woodmanspal.com/products/woodmans-pal-classic-model-481-tool-only. This is what one person did according to the reviews on Midway USA: My only negative comment, I didn't like the fact that they leave the last inch or so of the blade without an edge. The do this for "safety", but frankly, if I want a machete I want it sharp to the end. So, I fired up my grinder and carefully sharpened the end of the blade. Then polished it with diamond tools. If you do this Don't reshape the entire blade as it has a special convex shape that is nearly impossible to recreate. I don't know what they mean by special convex shape but I assume the knife sharpeners/makers here do. I include it as it seemed relevant. Anyway, like I said, if anyone here can do this or knows of someone who can (preferably middle TN area) please let me know.

^That's an insult to homosexuals. I'd pretty sure most of them would treat a Garand better then that. After all, it is an antique.
