    Reason I switched.

    pipe smoking

I haven't had the opportunity to try very many different pipe tobaccos, but my favorite so far is probably the Blue Ridge blend out of Upton Smoke shop over in Green Hills.

    I do, why?
  4. Even if the video didn't show the guy flinching, it would be shot at an angle to show his bullets punching through the paper. The fact that it wasn't tells you that they more then likely filmed someone emptying the magazine, and then put the paper right in front of him and drew little Xs where they wanted the bullet holes. Plus you have to take into account that nobody trained with a firearm, or involved in the world of firearms at all is gonna do anything for this campaign, which means their shooter just does not know what he is doing, and there's no way he got that luck with the groupings.
  5. 1. Go ahead and ban the assault clips, I'll keep my hi-cap magazines. 2. I guarantee the guy shooting those rounds did not put those holes in the paper.
  6. I'm glad to see this. I like Rugers, I like the company, and the 1911 I have now I bought on a budget to plink and carry until it crapped out on me. Pending performance and prices, I think I just found its replacement.
  7. I've decided on the M1A, now the question is model. I'm REALLY leaning towards the Socom II with the urban camo design. The 6.8 is still a caliber I'm going to own someday, but until I do my own reloading I already know I wouldn't be able to take it out shooting near as much as I'd like to. Plus I think it's a good idea to have an expensive dream rifle, it'll keep me from spending my money as soon as I get it.
  8. I'm surprised nobody has pulled up the chart yet.

    the locked gun

I remember finding my dad's .38 in the garage in a cabinet when I was a kid. Being that my mom is at best nervous around firearms she had done everything she could to keep me and my brother away from them as kids (yeah, that worked out), I guess my dad figured an unlocked cabinet was good enough, but the fact is that I was a nosy kid. Well I must've also been a genius when I was a kid because I somehow magically figured out not to point it at myself, not to pull the trigger, and not to try and check if it was loaded because I had no idea how to do that.
  10. I know. I've looked into the prices.
  11. Ok, so I'm pickin' up more hours, gettin' a decent paycheck again, and I'm sittin' on about $900 from sellin' stuff on Ebay that I can't move for about a month because I'm a new seller. Here's the question, do I go for the M1A in .308 which, depending on model I might be able to afford as soon as I can get to the Ebay money, or do I save up for my dream rifle the Barrett Rec7 in 6.8 spc? I'm leaning towards the M1A due primarily to greater availibility and lower cost of ammo. Since I know people are going to ask this rifle is going to primarily be for disaster/zombie preparedness, and just shooting for fun. I'm really liking the Socom and SocomII models of the M1A.
  12. I decided to slightly change the topic, but the good news is I've gotten the teacher's approval to write my final paper arguing that it is unethical for state universities to ban the carry of firearms by those who have acquired a permit to legally do so.
  13. I know. I was making a joke about how basically anything that produces joy or any sort of good feeling is banned by Islam.
  14. I'm thinking about showing up Sunday just to observe, as I've never been involved in competition shooting I think I'd like to watch one first instead of just showing up without having a good idea of how to conduct myself. I also have a lot of school work type stuff going on as it's near the end of the semester, and might not even be able to go, but if I can be there, it'll definitely be on Sunday.
  15. I need to get a new extractor for my Metro Arms American Classic. Looking online I keep seeing stuff and 70 series and 80 series. How can I tell which one I need?
  16. I have a 10 round mag. The rest are 7.
  17. Good point. Maybe it should've been more like OH NO! SALTY!
  18. I'm not sure about that part Lagerhead. Isn't salt against their religion?
  19. Metro Arms American Classic (A milspec 1911).
  20. Are there any kind of restrictions on the handguns allowed or magazine capacity?

    sbr ??

Is the $200 tax stamp the only money involved, aside from the parts and the conversion process? If so I might be tempted to start such a project.
  22. After doing some browsing I'm also eyeing a reconstruction of a Finnish M31 Suomi in 9mm.
  23. I did some online research right after I posted this, found out the CETME did come first, and I heard about the brass problems. However, I don't do my own reloading and it seems as long as I chamber 7.62x51 NATO, I shouldn't expect any problems. I did hear some bad things about Century, but I also heard a lot of people saying they've been shooting one for years without any problems, so it seems to be a toss up in that aspect.
  24. Seen one one a website for $600. Sounds great, basically an HK knockoff in .308, but I don't know anything about it and sure would like to before I consider a future purchase.
