  1. Was down in New Orleans for Mardi Gras, and I went shooting with a buddy who I just got into gun ownership and 1911s. Long story story short we had magtech rounds loading into the barrel, the primer striking, but no discharge. After the issue was safely resolved we talked to the guys in the shop and they said magtechs just have hard primers. I've fired magtech .45s through a variety of handguns including a couple different kinds of 1911s but I've never had that issue. Has anybody else experienced this with magtech?
  2. I'm flyin' down to New Orleans this Friday for Mardi Gras, and I've been having some lower back pain since I started weight lifting again. I think I'm gonna ask 'em if they can send me through the body scanner and tell if my spine's out of whack.
  3. To be fair Dolomite, one look at the discussions on this website would also give people the impression that every person who carries a gun must be a smartass. Besides, it's better to be a smartass than a dumbass.
  4. I didn't read the article, but I am curious as to why the FBI was using a chainsaw to conduct any raid in the firstplace. The only time people ever use chainsaws to get into someone's house is in the movies, and it's always some maniac in a mask trying to brutally murder someone. Regardless of the outcome of the raid I think the FBI needs to seriously reconsider using chainsaws for forced entry.
  5. One thing I heard about open carry while I was living in Louisiana was simply not to do anything with the firearm while OCing, no touching it or fiddling with it or whatnot, and most people just assume you are an off duty cop and leave you alone. I'm not saying you did any of those things, just sayin. It sounds like the asian couple may have been from another country, not just another state, and may have been even more surprised by the presence of an individual with a firearm.
  6. Went ahead and made a batch for the superbowl. Found an old tub of chocolate frosting that didn't have any purpose so I threw that on top.
  7. Being in school to be a police officer, I've already made a decision about several states I would refuse to work in. The short story is that this decision centers around the fact that I refuse to enforce laws I myself would hardly be able to stand as a citizen of any of these states. Aside from that list of mostly extremely liberal coastal states I'll go to work for the first person who's willing to hire me. I must admit I would like to visit California sometime, as they have a massive amount of very good microbreweries coming out of the state.
  8. I tried to get a job at Dick's once. Telling them that you yourself are a dick is not as effective as you would think.

    M&P9 vs 1911

Just out of curiosity, specifically what 1911 is it?
  10. Hey, I'm closin' in on 25 thank you very much. In an ordinary circumstance, with ordinary people and customers around, I would CC. Hel, in any ordinary circumstance I wouldn't be stepping foot in a Starbucks. But, what does it accomplish if a whole bunch of gun owners go to Starbucks, to show their support, on the same day the antis are protesting, and the only people who had any idea we did such a thing, are us, and the handful of Starbucks managers. Then entire point of my idea, is that the people who would normally freak out and scream at the sight of a firearm, and respond by doing everything they could to get them banned from Starbucks, are refusing to do business with them on that day. Just imagine if we had a single entire Starbucks full of gun owners peacefully drinking their coffees, and eating their bagelses for an entire day, with nothing bad happening. Every single thing those hippies would be outside protesting would've just been shot to **** with recent, modern proof that they are wrong about us. While I do respect the wisdom that comes with experience, and as I said earlier, normally CC, I am also relishing this opportunity to show the rest of the country, that the morons who think we're a threat to everyone around us have no idea what they are talking about.
  11. I'm thinking this is an excellent opportunity to fill businesses with openly armed citizens, and sit back and watch, as NOBODY GETS HURT.
  12. While I do appreciate the arguments that OC might scare Starbucks into banning firearms, as this wouldn't be the first place that has happened, I now see Valentine's day as the perfect opportunity to show Starbucks who their real customers are while the hippies are out banning them and protesting. I say we pack our local Starbucks' with OCing gun owners. Also, Lagerhead, when you said the Starbucks in Bellevue did you mean the one off 70, or 100?
  13. THE FULL GROPE OF FREEDOM!
  14. I wish you had posted this closer to christmas, when the white fudge covered oreos were still in stores.
  15. I think Kwik needs to stage his next carry protest in NYC.
  16. Okay, my answer about the fat man has pretty much already been taken, 1 dead is better then 2 dead. I'm more concerned about this fat guy vaporizer that's running around. I could be in serious trouble here.
  17. Death comes for all men. Some just can't wait.

    Ruger SR1911

I got one and I love it. Just won the bidding on ebay for some new grips for it too. Out of every handgun I've ever shot, this is the gun I've been the most accurate with. I introduced a buddy in N.O. who's planning on starting carrying to a variety of pistols, had him shoot em all, and taught him a couple things. The first thing he wanted to know was where he could find a Ruger 1911.
  19. Cool. I might be scrapping the tartan idea though. I've found some nice hand carved wood grips on ebay that dont look like the bidding'll get to high.
  20. I'm with Wyatt on the blame going to Miles. You could tell that after Nov. 5th, Saban studied the current LSU team relentlessly. LSU on the other hand, was guessing haphazardly about what to expect from Bama.
  21. Sound expensive.
  22. That didn't look like college football. That looked like it was from Little Giants.
  23. It was an old old thread. I'm surprised this one is still popping up to be honest.

    1911 Noob Question

I find I have more trouble with the bushing wrench, then just using my finger. My finger has never failed me, but once or twice that bushing wrench has slipped resulting in a certain projectile being launched freely from it's home at a decent velocity.
  25. Sounds good. The only thing I'm really worried about is getting the colors to come out right in the wood.
