  1. SG ammo is a great source for ammo. Quick delivery and reasonable prices . Somethings are just not popular enough to get locally. I only know of a few places locally here that carry any 5.45 x 39 and it is just the small boxes .
  2. I have what may be a stupid question . Does a 5.56 and .223 use the same headspace gauge ? I am getting mixed signals from looking up the gauge. I am thinking they are slightly different and the barrel I have was listed as an 5.56 / .223 .
  3. I have both grips and do not care for the SAW. I actually prefer a factory AK grip to the SAW as far as feel. I lick the Houge the best of the 5 grips I have. I do agree that it is best if you can try before you buy. I got the SAW on an AK I bought and just leave it on something because it counts as a 922 part. But it really deponds on the individual , It just doesn't fit me as well as others.
  4. I went to the range yesterday with mine and ran 100 rounds through it. No problems at all with my Plum Crazy , shot great . I am happy with the price and think it is a great alternative for a economy build. I am sure there are better lowers out there ,but as a starter ,entry level AR it would be hard to beat. I am not saying I would want to go to battle with it but it does what I was looking for. A low price .223 / 5.56 first AR .
  5. I bought one from Gun Brokers. I was looking for a low cost AR . I have run about 40 rounds through it so far and no problems. I am going to run a few hundred through it next week. It and a Del Ton upper was around 560.00 and that fell in my price range.
  6. I am looking at a stock for a SKS and can't decide on the Tapco or the similar ATI that folds as well as collapse. I do shoot left handed and the old ATI folder had a thumb groove that I had to remove. Any good or bad points on either ?
  7. There are great little rifles . My next door neighbor bought one of the early ones and had a ejector problem. Smith fixed it and it has been fine . I liked it so well I bought a used one at a gun show from someone who I just happened to know. He told me that it had the same problem and was repaired / updated by Smith. I wish mine had the treaded barrel , but other than that I love it. I checked with Smith and they will change the barrel to the threaded one for 100.00 plus return shipping and return the old barrel as well. Not sure I will ever spend the money.
  8. Thanks for the info .
  9. I just go a Draco AK 47 pistol . My question is if I add a muzzle break , Does it create any legal issues ? I ask this because the barrel cap is welded . I see where people are adding them , but that doesn't mean it is legal to do so. I just don't want to do anything that will make it illeagal and wonder why the break is welded. The only reason I come up with is that laws dont want you to add a flash/muzzle break. Sorry for the dumb question but I can't keep up with all the rulings.
  10. SPEEDFEED® | PRODUCTS Check there pistol grip
  11. I bought a Cabela's Carbine like the one in the link except a little shorter barrel a few weeks ago for 150.00 . It came with Pyrodex powder , powder flask , leather sling and bullets. Same rubber pad and black trim. I bought it because it was 58 cal. and I didn't have one. It has a capital I with a squre around the I . Made by Investarms for Cabela's . The guy had priced it to me before doing any checking on its worth . When he brought it by he said he had a buyer for 200.00 but would honor his word of 150.00 . He could have been just saying that but it was a friend and he has always been straight with me in the past . I believe he was telling the truth and had found someone else that was looking for one. It is a buyers market and I agree that looking on Gunbrokers is a good idea of what something is bringing. You just have to weed out the one that are priced high and no one ever bids on it.
  12. It has a adjustable rear sight. I can make out K.B.I. 380ACP and ING HBG PA or RA on one side of the slide . The other side I can barely see SSIA but it is real pitted in front of it . I am guessing it said Russia . Grip is a one piece wrap around with a single screw in the middle of the back. Magazine release is on the bottom of the handle. I will try and get pics up tomorrow. Thanks
  13. It is marked 380 on the side . I have it soaking now so it will be a few days before I can get it cleaned up and a picture. I made a quick measurement of the mag well and came up with about .820 and it seems too wide for a single stack . Thanks for the info and I will do some looking at some more pics. This pistol is not marked well at all. The grip goes on with 1 screw in the middle of the back strap and are 1 piece grips with both sides and the back all together . The CZ looks like 2 seperate grips .
  14. I swapped for a pistol today and it is rough. From the pictures I find online I believe it is a Makarov. It is a 380 and nothing else is marked well enough to see. It has no magazine and I am finding single and double stack . Can some one give me the width of the bottom of the magazine well of either one so I know what to hunt. It looked a little wide for a single stack to me. Thanks
  15. I shoot left handed and have never had a problem shooting standard AR's . To me you are better off to buy standard rifles and add any left handed parts because if you ever sell it , the market is so much larger for right handed guns.
  16. Yes I have seen them. Has anyone used them ? I like the more traditional look of the stick or drum magazine , but to go and shoot it woud work fine if it functions properly .
  17. After the repairs of freinds 15 22 , I bought one at a gun show last weekend. The only thing is I had wanted one with a threaded barrel. Does any one know of a reliable place to get it threaded ? About how much does it cost ? I see the crush washer adapters but I thick I would prefer to have it threaded . Thanks
  18. Thanks for the input. I was at Sportsman Warehouse today and picked up a factory Ruger magazine . That will get me going for now and I will look and see what else pops up between now and spring.
  19. I was told years ago , that when buying an aftermarket magazine to look at the small pin that points at the rear of the magazine , and get the ones with a metal pin. Now it seems that I am not seeing the ones with a metal pin anymore . Does anyone know who is still making them ? Are they still being made? Any other brands that last as well as the ones with the metal pin ? Anyone try the drum type magazines ? Thanks
  20. I went and the Mrs. went with me. That is a first gun show for her. I bought several magazines and accesories for my AK . We had a good time .
  21. Mike I will check into finding someone who can check the headspacing in the Chattanooga / Cleveland area. If not I may buy a set of the go , no go gauges. If it is off , what can be done to correct it ? I have heard the term but not sure about how it is checked or fixed. I have a idea of what it is , in how the cartridge fits the barrel . Thanks for all the info .
  22. mousegunner Thanks for the review. I skimmed over it and see a bunch of good info. I looked again and this one is a GP WASR 10 but there is no 63 on it. Not sure of the year of manufacture but it does have the bayonet lug and screw on muzzle break. I was a little worried yesterday , but after some more in depth research and shooting it , I am pretty happy with it.
  23. I walked out back to the targets and it shoots great. No feed issues and my eyes are not what they used to be but at about 65 yards I had no problems hitting the chest size targets. That is with open sights and standing . I go to the eye doctor on the 15th but even with new glasses it seems rifle sights look fuzzy or the target looks fuzzy. It has the side folding stock and a UTG rail setup on the front. I don't care for the muzzle break that is on it but push a lock pin and it just scews off . I will be getting some more mags and ammo and a few small items .
  24. It will take a factory AK magazine and it came with a 20 rounder . The front sight looks good and straight . The magazine seems to fit about like most I have seen , with some side to side movement but not much and it goes in and locks with ease . I will try and shoot a few rounds tomorrow and hopefully it will do O.K. I was just looking for a rifle that took the 30 round mags and still used the 7.62 x 39 like my SKS. Fun to shoot and not real high for ammo .
  25. I had been looking for an AK type rifle and found one yesterday. However not being close to a computer at the time , I couldn't look anything up on them. I looked it over and it looked decent ,plus it had several add ons that I would have wanted to add and so on. There are so many variations on Ak rifles that I couldn't keep them straight in my head . Unfortunatley I am not seeing great reports on this one. One of the main things I see is when they were cut to allow the high capacity mags , It was done crude and sloppy. This one is not that way and looks like it was done on a mill. I hope to fire it shortly and hope I didn't make a mistake.
