  1. i think this might be the best advice ever!!!
  2. with what you guys are talking about (922) is leaving the factory non-removeable 10 round mag in it but putting the TAPCO stock on an SKS legal? btw, thats a very slick looking SKS!
  3. i have one, i dont care much for it... not very comfortable and forget it if you want to sit down...
  4. i would not leave my gun in a hotel room at all, whether it was locked in a safe or not. i'd keep it locked up (probably in a locked case in the truck) in my car, and if thats not legal i'd unload it and lock the ammo up individually from the gun in the car. i use to travel alot and found that most of the room maids are nosey and like to go through things...
  5. when i get up and get dressed in the morning, there is always one in my pocket. lately its been a P3AT. i rarely belt carry (either IWB or OWB) one while i'm at home, but i have done that in the past as well. i also have a few scatterguns within easy reach...IMHO thats what a handgun is for at home...to fight your way to the long guns
  6. i cant get my wife to get hers, she says i carry enough guns for the both of us... gotta keep trying to get her to do it though...
  7. that link works...thanks! i was hoping for a smaller profile grip, something more geared towards CC and not hunting. that would be a nice addition to a 3" k frame .357 mag if the darn grip wasnt so big...
  8. is this on the website or in a store? if on the web, can you provide a link? i'm going through the cabela's site right now but cant find it...
  9. + 1,000,000 i agree 100% with the above statement
  10. i dont travel alot if thats what your asking, and we dont eat out alot either. when we do eat out its usually in our home county restaurants. yes, i do leave my county occasionally and i do carry my gun...i just make it a point not to give my business to places that i cant legally carry my gun there... questioning like this is one reason i dont post alot of replies...i have better things to do than get into arguments or "debates" on the internet
  11. thanks, thats what i thought it was referring to. No, i would not sacrifice OC for anything. i dont OC normally, but have on occasion. i think the biggest benefit from having the OC with us is that it saves us from having to suffer from brandishing laws if anyone anytime did make out a print or see your gun... my solution to this problem is do not go to restaurants that serve alcohol. i dont drink, and live in a small town and dry county so its a no issue for me anyways...
  12. can anyone explain the "restaurant carry" to me? i think i understand what your talking about but want to make sure...
  13. since primary carry will be in the pocket, i would suggest a 642. if SA shooting is important to you, then go with the 638 bodyguard. for self defense i feel that SA shooting is not needed and unimportant, so i went with a 642... reason i feel it unimportant is one doesnt need to have the hammer cocked and that short SA trigger pull in place, especially when adrenaline is pumping and things are happening fast. a good S&W double action trigger pull is plenty light enough in the heat of the moment...
  14. there prices do seem high on the new stuff, but i've gotten a bunch of great deals on used handguns from them so deals there can be had... i've also found Byrd's to be one of the best for new stuff with low prices...

    ruger lcp

Dixie Pawn in Jefferson City has one in the display case for $299 + tax and background...saw it today. i almost bought the darn thing...
  16. i've been eyeing these thinking i should get one...they are sweet looking!
  17. that looks like the typical K frame. you need a set of grips for a K frame Square Butt. if it is stainless steel it will be a Model 64 and if it is nickel it will be a Model 10. if you kick the cylinder open, in the crane area should be the serial # again and either a 64-# or 10-#...the -# tells you what revision it is. hope this helps...

    Revolvers?

while i love wheelguns, the can and do jam occasionally...just alot less likely. if you ever have a primer unseat or a bullet creep out far enough you will know what i mean...

    S&W model 681

its not that these guns are rare, its just that they were short lived in there productions. you dont see them all the time. there intended purpose was to go on a patrol officers belt, not quite as big and heavy as the large N frame S&W's but able to withstand hotter loads than the K frames that were considered perfect for police officers at the time. only problem is that the "wonder nine" came out about the same time, and police agencies begin switching to the semi-autos and no one other than police had a real use for a big fixed sight .357...everyone else wanted adjustable sights. hence there "rarity" if you want to call it that. i've had one in the past...and it was an awesome shooting gun. shoots just as good as the 686 line, only difference is you cant adjust the sights on the 681...

    Kel-Tec

+1 on VERO1's suggestions...that store in Morristown is full of BS IMHO...that or go on into Knoxville...i know its a little far from Mooresburg but worth it.
  21. looks like they could make one for the CW series pretty easily...just model it after the Glock models they already offer. both guns are polymer frames with no grips to take off...
  22. that should have read "Shouldnt all lever guns..." i'm editing it now to change it... also, i agree 100%, all my levers have peeps. scopes just ruin the smooth fluid lines of a good lever gun IMHO.

    Ruger LCP .380

Marswolf, thanks for posting that article...its a nice read. after holding one of these LCP's at the gunshow last weekend, it has me thinking about these (and debating the P3AT vs LCP myself). i've had 2 P3AT's in the past, nothing wrong with them just my brother and then my Dad wanted them more than i did for CC, so i sold them to them.
  24. i have a Marlin 1894c in .357 that i love! it is one fun rifle to shoot. i have Williams peep sight on it (shouldnt all lever guns where some sort of peep?) and it is very accurate as long as i do my part. i have never deer hunted with it before, although i'm sure it would work if you kept your distances short and treated it like a loud bow and arrow. by that i mean keep your shots off the shoulders and in the lung/heart area. here are some pics of mine...
