  1. i've made that same trip several times...never had any problems...
  2. you've got a lot of recommendations for the S&W J frame. i love them also, and carry one regularly. i also have a NAA mini-revolver in .22magnum, its about the smallest revolver there is but its single action only and very small...its just pocket insurance for me and i treat it like a pocket knife...just another tool i carry... you cant go wrong with a good J frame...big enough to shoot accurately and regularly, and small enough to carry daily.
  3. What is your favorite pocket holster? i've been using a DeSantis Nemesis (which i love) for a S&W J frame, but i'm in the market for another one for a Beretta Tomcat. i thought i'd ask around before i jumped out there and just bought another Nemesis to see if there was something better...
  4. very much agreed, awesome post!
  5. this does sound like a good idea... i've always been interested in the black rifles, but never had the opportunity to own one...
  6. i've hunted them at Catoosa WMA and also at Big South Fork. like the others have said, i've seen tons and tons of sign, but not seen much hair at all. i've never actually saw one at Big South Fork, but i did have a run in with a big one at Catoosa 3 years ago. it was my fault i didnt get a shot at it. we started out hunting in the open woods/fields so i had my scoped bolt action with me. long story short, weather got rough and we moved to thicker territory, much thicker, so thick that it was very hard to shoulder a rifle, much less swing one. it ran in front of me about 20 yards up, if i had only had my rifle slinged across my back and my handgun in my hands i might could've gotten it...
  7. we hunt them quite a bit up here north and east of Knoxville. lots of guys have started hunting them and our numbers of them are going way down...which alot of farmers think is a good thing. its definately been tougher hunting them now with more people after them...it used to be real easy but not anymore...in the past three years my hunting group has probably killed 600 or more...
  8. check out the TWRA website, they usually have several pay fields all across the state that usually hold some good dove hunting for the first few days. i usually try to burn these fields up for the first couple of days and then move on to my private land i have lined up to hunt. i'm north east of Knoxville though, so it probably wouldnt be worth the drive from Crossville for you. i'd guess with a little door knocking you might could find a farmer or two who would let you hunt if you dont want to go the TWRA fields route.

    Value of gun

these Model 19's have been coming into there own lately, so to speak. i've seen them in the past for as cheap as $300, but seems today any -# you see is priced in the $400 to $500 range...
  11. i'm a S&W man myself, and i love the little J frames. the 442/642 are my favorite of the bunch. they are light enough to still be able to shoot and carry it all day, dont have a hammer to snag as you draw (for me thats usually from a pocket), and they are 5 shot dependability. IMHO you cant beat them!

    Ruger LCP .380

i just saw one of these today at the local gunshow, and i must say i was impressed. it looked nice. they were selling for $269, and the guy selling them had only two on display that were already sold...said he sold 30 of them this morning! had one of those two been available, i'd probably have bought one just to have.
  13. i guess its just not a fashion that i like for me...much like the suit and tie. not many times will you see me in a suit and tie...
  14. ***EDIT*** guess i should read the entire thread before posting, huh? i didnt realize there were six pages. i'm glad to hear that it is legal to carry while on my boat...i was worried that i'd be breaking the law if i continued to do as i had been doing in the past without thinking about it...
  15. i have never understood the desire behind fanny packs... they look uncomfortable as crap, and i just dont see the need for it. with a good holster and a good leather belt, its not hard to conceal a handgun...
  16. i would love to make it to the range more often...work has been killing me lately!
  17. while it is possible to conceal guns, there is no way he could move around like that. i have on one occasion carried concealed 5 handguns while going to walmart, just to prove to my wife that i could. she was complaining about me wanting her to carry one small S&W J frame snub nose. two of the five were full size Beretta 9mm's... oh and i love the 870...
