  1. I didn't know which forum would be best to post this is or where it would get the most attention, so I guessed at putting it here. If an admin thinks it best somewhere else, please accept my apologies and guide me to the right place. I did a search for "castle doctorine" and only got one result, so thought I'd post and ask. Basically I know TN has CD that allows people with no permit to carry in their car, deeming the vehicle is an extension of their castle. Does this apply to long guns? If so, does this apply to HCP holders when in possession of a loaded long gun in the vehicle? Once the long gun is brought out of the vehicle, are other laws being broken at that point since one is no longer in their "castle"?
  2. If that was going to be a hold up for me, then I'd get out of the 5.56 game before I didn't get into the .300 BLK game. That's how good it is! It's so much fun, both supers and subs, and I've got a suppressor sitting in paperwork jail that's going to make it even more fun when she gets to come home!
  3. Savage made a few pump rifles, I had one in 30-30. It wasn't very accurate. A friends 7600 in 30-06 didn't shoot near as good as his bolt gun did. That's my only experiences with them.
  4. How about a Remington 700 AAC in .300 Blackout and add a PTG AR15 magwell to the factory stock? Maybe kinda expensive but does meet your criteria... http://pacifictoolandgauge.com/remington-700-detachable-mag-bottom-metal-dbm/9404-remington-700-short-short-action-sa-stealth-detach-mag-bottom-metal-for-ar-15-magazines-223-556.html
  5. I only use the sand colored Magpul mags for my 300 blackout. And I never use those for 5.56. Safety safety safety... It can happen to any of us though. I was reloading a few glock 30 mags after taking it to the range and couldn't get the shells to stay in...I thought dang I must have broke a mag lip...looking closer at it I was trying to load .40s&w into .45acp mags...duh.
  6. The 45 line is thicker. The .40 is very slightly thicker than the 9mm but generally as far as holster go the 9 & 40 are interchangeable. I think the CM line is fairly new, it's the budget side of the PM line. I've got a CW40 that has been out for quite a while and it's a really nice pistol. I also have a PM45 and like it as well.
  7. And I've seen the box & wax paper alone bring $300 in the past to someone who really needed it for a collection piece.
  8. That's a very nice old smith. I have a 19-3 nickel 4" that I wouldn't sale for $1500. Of course it belonged to my dad and he passed it on to me. I agree with the others, when it comes to old smiths (and most guns in general), throw the books in the trash.
  9. I'm waiting on papers for a SilencerCo Hybrid, it is direct thread but different back caps are available. I picked up the M13.5x1LH piston for my Glock 17 barrel and will use the direct thread 5/8x24 for my .300 BO. I'm almost positive I saw a 3 lug back cap online for the Hybrid.
  10. I agree with Caster, anyone on the trust who isn't being deployed should be in possession of them
  11. I deprime before tumble. I've had some media in the primer pockets but it's never been a pain to clear out
  12. Well, after exchanging a few PM's about this with the two suggested leathersmiths....I think I've decided to scrap the idea.  I already carry a lot of junk in my wallet, and it's already pretty thick.  I have semi large hands and without the G10 scales on my Izula I hated that knife...never felt secure in any cutting tasks with it until I added the G10.  Adding a thick scaled Izula to an already pretty thick wallet will leave some massive sized tumor that I'd be carrying around.     Many props to gjohnsoniv and East_TN_Patriot for their willingness to listen to my thoughts and offer their advice and willingness to jump on this project.  For it to work out well though I think I'd end up with a wallet that was way to big (thickness) or a knife I'd never use...
  13. Thanks guys, I sent those guys a message to see if they would be interested...
  14. In dreaming of other ways to daily carry my Esee Izula, I had an idea for a leather wallet/sheath combo. Surely I wasn't the first to think of something like this but after some extensive google searching I'm just not finding anything. Im thinking something along the lines of the long wallet in the link at the bottom but with a sheath on the outside of the wallet for the Izula. Does anyone know of anything like this being made or will I need to go full custom order with a leather shop? Or does anyone know a leather smith that might want to tackle this? http://ep.yimg.com/ay/yhst-70313169882065/3db-wjb125-justin-camo-western-rodeo-wallet-11.jpg
  15. In my AR building experience, my suggestion is spend the cash on a good quality barrel. This should be the most expensive part of the upper besides glass. I really like the ARP barrels and he's an East TN company to boot. My second option would be Stag. I tried a Radical barrel in .300 blackout and was severely disappointed...4" groups off sandbags at 50 yards...but that was a $89 barrel. Like has been said 5.56 mags will work as long as they aren't poly mags, but a C-products 6.8 mag is less than $20 and well worth the investment.
  16. ARP is the name in the 6.8 AR15 world
  17. Polecat, you can certainly do that...you also need a 6.8 bolt at the least, or a complete bolt carrier group for your 6.8 upper would be slightly easier. Then as time and savings allow, build you a second lower and then you've got two rifles!
  18. I got my last bit from Sportsmans Guide
  19. I've had two AR's in it and currently have one 15" TC Encore pistol barrel in it. I love the round, never took game with it but I see it as an excellent choice for coyote through whitetails.
  20. For the OP, not sure where you're located as I'm posting from my phone but if you are in eastern TN I'd be willing to help with the installation if needed. I've got the site pusher for the rear and the wrenches for the fronts. I've never installed TFO's or TFX but I can't imagine they'd be much different than any other Glock night sight
  21. I had this same issue with even the 30SF. It just felt huge in my hands. I had considered these grip mods then I held a Springfield XDS .45 3.3 and wow, that was the answer for me...it's now my EDC. I know glock guys don't want to hear that, I'm a glock guy myself... I do like ehull20000's rules for cutting though, I feel the same way about stippling. Once it's done it's yours forever
  22. Suppressor manufacturers should be heavily lobbying for this bill. This increases there target audience by thousands if not millions. I wouldn't see the price dropping a great deal on the units themselves but sales would certainly go through the roof. I know if I were selling an item that was targeting a small percentage of the available market and suddenly there was a chance to increase that, I'd be all over it. Monkeylizard, thanks for the forum help. I knew that was there on the full site but I'm on the mobile site and that's not an option that I could find unless you post a reply. Until now I didn't think I had $.02 to pitch in...hence the post above.
  23. I'm just posting here to follow the thread as it's interesting reading... Please ignore me while I sit in the corner
  24. I love my Vortex Strikefire. Mine is the red/green and I've never had a problem or noticed that the dot was dim.
  25. Williams is what my Marlin lever guns wear. I've got both the WGRS and the Foolproof, with the latter but much better in my opinion. I especially love the target knob FP model
