  1. Morristown area, about 45 mins north east of Knoxville. Willing to meet though
  2. Keeping for now
  3. Im in East TN near Morristown. TWRA updated the dove page on their website but it only has the WMA’s listed so far, maybe the other fields will follow soon
  4. Thanks for the replies guys. The water part of hydro dipping is what worries me about it. I talked to him again this afternoon and I think I’ve talked him into just krylon for the stock. He doesn’t want a new rifle, just wants it to blend in a little more and be camo...I can’t blame him I like some of the camo finishes I saw when googling for an answer for him myself.
  5. This might not be the best forum for this, I apologize in advance if I’m in the wrong place and if someone could kindly direct me to where it belongs I would be much obliged. A friend of mine asked me this question this morning and while I thought I had an answer for him I paused and wondered. He has a bolt action deer gun he wants to freshen up. It has a walnut stock on it, not in terrible shape but it’s nothing particularly interesting either, no mentionable grain or design. He is wanting a camo type job on the whole rifle, and he has pretty much decided to OD green cerakote the action and barrel. He asked me if the cerakote would adhere to the walnut stock though. My initial gut feeling was for him to sand it down and just krylon camo paint the stock, but then I wondered if cerakote would be a better option...or if it would even work on walnut...or if hydro dipping would be better or worse for the walnut.... I just thought I’d post here and see what y’alls general thoughts or advice would be on it. He does want a durable finish as it is a hunting gun.
  6. I have always wanted to see one of these blinds in person, in theory I think that they would be awesome...but I’ve never had hands on
  7. Anybody ever deer hunted this wma? I live in East TN but looking for somewhere to hunt in Unit L this year and wondering if this wma is worth the 3.5 hour drive to check it out...
  8. Thanks for the replies guys, I guess I’m just to early looking for the twra website but will keep an eye on it
  9. Anybody know of any dove fields in the east TN area? I’ve been out of the dove scene for several years but want to get back into it...I know season opener is still always out but thought I’d ask if anyone knew of any field plans yet.
  10. Now that is a good looking scope. That’s spear dot in the 1-8x is about what I’ve been looking for! Thanks!
  11. I just don’t think I will enjoy hunting with that type of reticle myself... I have some Nikons that I like but due to the mentioned possible warranty issues I’ll probably shy away from them. I do really like both of these. They are now on my short list to compare and think about. Looks like for a standard type reticles it’s gonna be rough to find a 1x to “greater than 4x” on the top end. While that’s probably plenty, I just wish someone made a standard type reticle in a 1-8x range myself. Maybe I’m just old fashioned lol Thanks for all the thoughts and suggestions!
  12. Ranges to 150 yards, mostly deer and coyotes but I will be doing a pig hunt in 2021. Price range is $500. I'm not an optics snob but I like good quality glass. I was thinking the Vortex Viper HS 2.5-10X44mm. I can't find an LPVO from anyone that has a standard hunting or BDC type reticle in it, unless you get down in the super cheap sub $100 range. Everything has a tactical cqb type reticle in it and i just don't know how i would like that for hunting.
  13. I’m on the hunt for a good hunting scope to go on my 300 blackout AR pistol. It’s an 8.5” barrel, and will be used with my suppressor. I initially planned on just popping a Holosun 403 red dot that I already have on it but I am now thinking I would like some magnification. I love Vortex scopes, and have been considering a couple of their models like the strike eagle 1-8x. I also looked at a Burris 332 prism the other day and really liked it. I don’t know if I would like some of the tactical style reticles for hunting situations though....but I honestly have zero experience with those types of reticles. Just for clarification, this AR pistol isn’t braced but I have a Thordsens cheek rest on the buffer tube. Any advice??
  14. I’m looking into Loshbough myself now, chased them a bunch at Catoosa WMA on the deer hunts there but haven’t been successful yet
  15. Thanks for the heads up. I’ll look into it!
  16. Hey guys and gals...two buddies of mine and myself are looking for some land to hunt in Unit's A, B, or L...looking to tag a doe for the freezer. We live in Unit C and our doe season closed today...long story short the private land owner we had an agreement with on hunting this year just before season opened said no does. So we've got the Type 94 anterless tag and would like some meat for the freezer. Any advice on any public lands in these units (A, B, or L). We just want one doe each...not looking to slay them LOL. We don't have a lot of experience outside of units C & D, we've hunted the Catoosa WMA quite a bit however. I was just curious if anyone had some advice for us this late in the season... Thanks for reading! Chris
  17. With the law change in 2014, pretty much anything goes
  18. I did some googling and searching on the blade forums here and found the answer...sorry for posting before searching guys...
  19. EDIT: I searched and found the answer...sorry for posting before searching Anyone know the legalities on the carry of double edged fixed blade knives in TN? A friend and myself were discussing knife carry laws and this topic came up. I wasn’t 100% positive on it myself.
  20. Hey guys and gals, I'm looking for a rifle range in East TN that offers shooting at longer distances. I'm not currently a member at any range or club. I know ORSA has 1,000 yard there, but my weekends are filled with work and I would never be able to meet there high power team requirements. I'm looking for somewhere to go shoot during week days that is further than 200 yards. I have looked at Tac2 in Greenville on their website and they show a 600 yard range but I've never spoken with anyone that has been there. Anyone know of any other ranges that offer longer distances? Or have any advice/thoughts? Finally got the rifle setup (Rem 700 AAC-SD in 308, MDT LSS chassis, Timmey trigger) and will but upgrading the scope once I have somewhere that goes beyond 200 yards. Currently it wears a Bushnell Elite 3200 fixed 10x and that does fine at the 200 yard berm...for now.
  21. These P-09 and its smaller brother P-07 are some of the most underrated polymer pistols out there IMHO. I'm a huge CZ nut, I love the all metal 75 and it's various variations but the P-09/P-07 have really grabbed spot in my heart. I have 3 of them in total, a black gen 1 P-09 in 9mm and I also have the Urban Gray Suppressor Ready P-07 & same in P-09 with threaded barrels that I use with my SilencerCo Hybrid. I had the P-09 listed for sale/trade on here when I picked up the UGSR P-09, but when it didn't move I wasn't upset!
  22. Thanks for the info guys! I'll definitely be looking into them. Gary, I hope I don't have sellers remorse on that one...
