  1. Some months back I decided to go with the new Silencerco Sparrow. I was impressed with the design and disassembly. I agree with one of the previous posts that the major factor is what will be shot the most, not to mention the weight and sight issues with shooting a 556 can on a 22. I should get the paperwork back next month and will give you all an update on the Sparrow.
  2. I found the video below very helpful. It is a comparison of the industry leading .22LR suppressors. It compares the original Sparrow and the new SS one. I have one on order, but from what they told me last week, if you ordered one now there is like an 8 month wait! Part 1: YouTube - Silencerco's Channel Part 2:
  3. A friend of mine saw one at the Shot Show this year and said it is way ahead of the competition. The new Sparrow is stainless too.
  4. I like the SilencerCo design...very easy to break down and clean with the double sleeves that fit around the baffles. Check out the videos they have linked on their website. They compare all the top .22 suppressors on different firearms...very informative.
  5. I've heard good things about Tactical Solutions suppressive. They have an all Ti rimfire for $350. Look at the new Sparrow from SilencerCo. It breaks down easy for cleaning with a very unique design. I just placed an order for one.
  6. I have been looking at getting a suppressor for my Ruger SR-22. While visiting family last week I stopped in at a small shop I heard of near Aransas Pass, Texas. I got to demo one of their suppressors on a Walter P22 and on a M&P 15-22. I was very impressed. Their website is: www.jetsupressors.com I've also heard good things about Tactical Solutions .22 suppressors.
  7. I agree that the P30 has the most comfortable grip I've ever felt on a handgun. I have a v3 .40 and loooove it.
  8. I had a hard time finding my P99c AS 40. I eventually found one and love it. I bought the H&K P30 this year and absoultely love it. I never thought I'd find a pistol that held and shot as well as the P99, but I finally think I found it in the P30.
  9. Welcome - I grew up over there too!

    Smith 642

My best friend bought one for his wife to learn to shoot and get he HCP with. We all went to the range one evening after they bought it. She couldn't get used to it and after about 30 rounds her hand was as red as a tomato. I lent them my Glock 27 and she loved it. She used the 27 to get her permit with and ended up buying one. I ended up buying the 642 and it now lives in the safe. I think it is a great pocket gun but I'm just not used to the heavy DAO trigger pull.
  11. Welcome aboard!
  12. High Noon makes several different types of holsters that are popular for the P99's. I have carried both the full size and the P99c AS in .40. They're really nice guns.
  13. The Equinox is no different other than the looks, and I believe it is the only model with the truglow front sight. Sharp eye on the ammo - those are Gold Dots. I have been using those for a few years now for EDC. I have shot 1 box to ensure initial reliability with no problems. I have also used a S&W 642 for carry some. I am now in love with this gun over the 642, though it's really no comparison. I read many problem reports such as yours before I bought it. I read others from owners who have never had issues. I think it could be contributed to the ammo. I read a few were folks had trouble with their feed ramps.
  14. I switched to using this gun as my EDC from carrying a LCP. In my opinion it's a night and day difference. I love the sights on the P238. The Equinox has a Truglow on the front and night sights on the rear. There is little recoil on the P238. I shot 84 rounds of Tennessee Cartridge with no issues. My groupings were for the most part all within 5" at 7 yards. I read a lot of reports on FTF and FTE issues with the P238. I thought I should post a good report. Here are a couple of pictures for you to enjoy.
  15. I flew for a regional carrier for several years. I made captain. I was on the CRJ-200. I looked at what I was making and knew I could do better elsewhere and have a better quality of life. I do miss flying the jet though.
  16. A lawyer definately needs to be retained. Wow.
  17. My motto is never sell only add guns, however, I have seriously been thinking of doing the exact same thing you described. I have an older gun that was my first handgun...bought it used and got my HCP with it. It's old and outdated but I can't bring myself to sell it due to the sentimental value. It is like an old friend. I was so close to listing it today and even got it out to take pictures of it, but once I held it...it went right back into the safe. Keep the oldie and save for the 9mm.
  18. I lived in harbor town for several years and have friends that live down there now in houses. Like everyone else has said, it's great but like anywhere in Memphis know your surroundings. I grew up in West Memphis and the Wal Mart is fine. Miss Cordelias is a little small grocery on the island but is overpriced; useful for the quick gotta have something. There used to be a little movie rental/pizza shop right near the grocery too. That was always a good place to eat.
  19. What do you do there? I'd like to visit Knoxville Zoo sometime.
  20. I bought the P30 from Florida Gun Exchange for a very reasonable price. They're on gunsamerica.com
  21. Or better yet chemical spray followed up with 12 gauge bean bags...just to get their attention.
  22. I suppose I was considering that there would be witnesses or the assailant was an intruder on your property. Good point.
  23. I'm sure glad to know someone else asks this question. Also what quality to buy? If it's TEOTWAWKI then cheap steel cased HP's gotta be ok.
  24. I think so much rides on the circumstances behind the confrontation. This is what the jury will come to know. If I feel I may become incapacitated, I believe I would draw and then negotiate before using deadly force.
  25. Good question though - I have thought about what my actions would be if faces with the same scenario. I had a guy have some road rage at me once and actually got out of his car and started at me at a red light several years ago. I was carrying at the time and had to quickly weigh options. I never knew what I did to make him angry. About the time he started walking toward me, I took a right turn and drove away. Not sure where it would have went if he would have made it over to my truck. Every since then I have always thought about your exact scenario. In the end we must exercise precise judgement and good common sense. What scares me is that in the world today common sense isn't so common anymore.
