  1. heck yeah!! looks medieval and bada$$
  2. I counted this morning, I have 18 holsters. Several are hybrids or pocket holsters that I made, a couple came with guns when I bought them, and one I won in a Christmas drawing on the CZ forum. The rest I bought, but most were cheap or on sale. Funny, I'm looking at a couple more I want to try too. I think I have holsteritis too.
  3. Welcome to TN and welcome to TGO. Despite the leniency of our carry laws for HCP holders, I still prefer not to be made. I don't stress about it, since I'm legal. I just like be incognito is all, so, I dress to conceal. Long-tailed, loose-fitting shirts are all I wear. This keeps all my bases covered, since I don't have to tuck my shirt in at work. On the rare occasion when I do have to tuck my shirt, I prefer to pocket carry, though.
  4. Impressive work GT! I love the spine work on this one. Don't worry, it's GOT get better in 2016.

    Archery caddie

Thanks Dane, you were pretty close. I looked up the parts at HomeDepot.com. Assuming it's 2" pvc pipe, it looks like the 1st one will require 3 x 10' sections of PVC pipe, 2 wyes 8 tees, and 2 couplers,. That puts its cost at about $50 with a can of cement. The 2nd one requires 4 elbows, 4 tees, 1 wye, and 2 x 10' sections of the same cheap DWV pipe. Including a can of cement, it'll only run me $35 and I think I'll like it better than the 1st. Still hoping for more ideas, though. Don't worry, it's GOT get better in 2016.

    Archery caddie

I wish we had an archery section here, I didn't know where else to post this. Don't worry, it's GOT get better in 2016.
  7. I've looked around for something to use as an arrow caddie and bow rest for my back yard. Ideally, I wanted something I didn't have to haul in and out every time I shoot. Also, I'd to be able to hang 2 bows up, for when my wife or daughter are shooting with me. I tried to order this one from Academy, because it's so cheap. It'd do the job, I think, but it looks a little unstable with such small feet/legs. It's a moot point, though, since it seems to be discontinued. Then I ran across these 2 on eBay: The seller wants $5 for the plans, but it's so simple. I'm pretty sure I can figure it out. I've never used PVC, but it can't be too difficult. I have no clue how much PVC pipe costs. Anyone work with PVC that has a clue how much it would cost in materials and/or how difficult it'd be to make? Anyone ever run across a better idea for an arrow caddie that I can hang a bow on? Don't worry, it's GOT get better in 2016.
  8. I work with a bunch of young junior developers. They all have college degrees, mind you, but out of the 3 that are the brightest and show the most promise, 2 were home schooled in HS. I know that's a small sample and anecdotal, but I've had the same experience elsewhere. The home schooled kids I know tend to be more self-reliant. Many were self-taught before getting formal training. That kind of willingness to be proactive about learning things is awesome, if you ask me. Why any employer wouldn't want an employee that grew up learning to feed himself intellectually is beyond me. Don't worry, it's GOT get better in 2016.

    Llama or keltec

Kel-Tec holds it own among the subcompact semi autos in their price range better than Llama. In an apples to apples comparison that is weighted toward price, you can't do much better unless you buy a used gun. If you follow the "fluff and buff" directions on KTOG.com, you should be fine. I shot on box of ammo through my Kel-Tec with few issues, but still used the marks left inside and the KTOG instruction to make a pretty darn smooth little gun. I've carried it every day for about 6 years as either a backup or a primary.
  10. I thought the hybrid holsters were such a good idea that I made a Kydex press and bought all the tools/hardware/materials to make them. I can't make myself one for less, even if I don't count my time/effort.   Regardless, I find an OWB pancake style holster to be most comfy. I can carry my CZ P-01 all day in one and it's more comfy than my XD-S in an IWB holster.
  11. did you sort by availability? I see plenty of .45 that is in stock
  12.   That's hilarious, because I do something similar. I put one earbud in the ear facing people and tuck the other in my collar. They serve as protection against small talk when I need to get work done.
  13. Congrats...big time!!   Hard to believe something that old can be that beautiful and functional after all those years.
  14.   I see those same people all the time and I usually feel the same way. Even though I was paying attention (visually), I was concentrating on rounding up to the next dollar.  Add the earbuds to the equation and it only took a few seconds to miss something important. I was disappointed in myself to say the least.
  15. I was getting gas yesterday morning and got a little scare...   It takes a while to fill up the truck, so I had my earbuds in listening to an audiobook. I am pretty aware when I'm out and about, but not exactly code red...just my usually glancing around. I saw this black guy in a nice suit pull up to a pump across from me. He starts pumping his gas and goes and talks to a black lady directly across from me. I figured they knew each other, so I let him drop off my radar.   When my pump clicked, I rounded off the last 26 cents, removed the hose, and turned around to hang up the nozzle. This guy was right on top of me. I mean uncomfortably close and with his arm outstretched. I straightened my left hand, holding the nozzle, moved back a few steps, and reached in my pocket out of instinct. Apparently that scared him as much as he scared me, judging by his expression. Realistically, it probably only took 1.5 seconds to evaluate the situation, see he had nothing in his hands but a church pamphlet, and let it register that it was the same guy in the suit from earlier.   I pulled my hand out of my pocket and yanked my earbuds free as I hung up the nozzle and he apologized. He was trying to tap me on the shoulder to offer me a church bulletin and invite me to church. That explains being inside my "too damn close for comfort" circle. I told him "I'm good, you just scared all the Hell right out of me" but took one anyway, apologized for being so jumpy, and left.   I'm NOT EVER wearing earbuds in public again...he wouldn't have gotten that close otherwise. Next time, it might not be one of the good guys...lesson learned, but I should have known better to begin with.
  16. Sorry to hear that happened, especially at an event that's supposed to be all about community and all. Even if the other people weren't the type of scumbags to hit a parked car and leave, they'd have filed a report if their vehicle had any appreciable damage and wasn't some hunk of junk. So, at least you know what kind of folks you're probably dealing with.
  17. I heard it was $hi++y
  18. good stuff, man, hope to read more
  19. Judging by the title, I was afraid this was going to be another negligent discharge story.   While they aren't my favorite, I respect the brand and LOVE to hear a good "I love my new gun" story. So, congrats on finding something you like.
  20. Sounds like a clear-cut case of premeditated murder to me as well. The "finishing shot" makes him a monster in my book and I hope his final years in prison are miserable. That being said, I have absolutely zero sympathy for Brady and Kifer, though. Considering their criminal past, the world is better off without them, even though the circumstances of their deaths is illegal.   If every would-be criminal had a reasonable fear of the same outcome, they'd think twice about a life of crime. It's obvious that fear of the legal consequences isn't stopping them.
  21. Depending on the holster, you could switch to J-clips. They're a little bit less noticable. However, I agree with the concensus above that only "friendlies" will know even if they do notice.
  22. The weight, dimensions, capactiy, and accuracy of their choices ar all over the place. I can't figure what their criteria were. However, they're a newspaper, so why would I expect them to know anything about guns?
  23. Last year they took in 20 guns. This year....SIX. That's 6...2 pistols, a rifle, a shotgun, and a couple of revolvers.
  24. I like my Boker Kalishnikov pretty good for the price. My only complaint is the button is exceedingly harder to press than the need for safety dictates. It's so cheap that I tend to overlook it.   I love that M&P the OP linked. It's hard enough to find a knife < $100 with an S30V steel blade, let alone an auto.   The Benchmade linked above probably has the best action for the price. If it had AUS-8 steel or better, I'd jump all over it.
