CLAIMED!

I'm sure in the end, evidence of some kind of wrong doing will be presented. Perhaps he has a garden and they'll find some fertilizer or maybe he has a slow drain and they'll find some Drano or maybe he reloads and they'll find some Bullseye. Any will be listed in their report as bomb-making implements of mass doom and destruction to justify pi$$ing on his Constitutional rights. On the other hand, they may find something legit, who knows. Just sounds like a BS fishing expedition to me too. Any of us could be victim to this kind of crap. All it would take is one a$$hat anti to turn you in saying they "think" you have illegal weapons or bombs, etc. In they end, we may be exhonnerated, but the inconvenience and cost would still be up to us to bear.

I wish I could say I've never been forced to enter into a purchase with an unscrupulous seller, who was neither fair nor honest, due to circumstances beyond my control that favored him in a way that gave me little or no choice. It sure didn't feel like capitalism to me, LOL.

I love those stocks! I've been wanting to swap mine out for one of those same 2 for a while. They look great and are SO light!

I guess this punishment would be too much to ask, huh?
I agree on the recoil of the XDs .45. I like everything about the pistol except the recoil. I had a pre-recall version, so when I got it back from Springfield I noticed it had about 1 lb more trigger pull weight, and it did not feel as nice as the original. I honestly have not shot it much since getting it back beyond making sure it worked reliably. It is still as reliable as ever, but I have to say I don't like it as much as I did. Maybe if I had only had the post recall version I wouldn't feel this way.
I thought mine felt like the trigger was heavier when it came back too. Since I hadn't actually measured it, I couldn't say for sure. It could have just been my perception or my angst over them taking almost 3 months to give me my damn gun back. Either way, 250+ rounds later, I don't notice that anymore. Maybe I just got used to it? Aside from the time I accidentally shot up a whole magazine of my 230 gr +P Hornady ammo by mistake, I never thought the recoil was that bad. Again, this may just be my perception, but I feel like since it's so thin and I can get so much more of my paws around it...it doesn't seem like the recoil is all that bad to me.
If you don't mind my asking, how do you carry your .45? I'd love to be able to pocket carry it, but it looks like it's a bit too big for that.
To be honest, it depends on what I'm wearing. When I'm wearing a close fitting pullover, I carry it in a Crossbreed style holster I made. If I have a baggy shirt on, I usually carry it in a Bianchi Minimalist (model 105)...my favorite holster for it. If I'm not sure where I'll wind up, I use the paddle holster that came with it. On the weekends when I'm wearing looser pants, I put it in a DeSantis pocket holster, but it takes big pockets and loose pants for that.

I'm with you...until I hear/see proof this even happened, I'm calling BS. I've met some poor excuses for people in my life, but the chances of one complaining about or kicking out a scarred 3 yr old is slim to none. Even if true, this poor little girl's life isn't ruined by the actions/memories of an idiot customer/employee one day at a KFC. It's ruined by the irresponsible trashy sacks of crap that let the dog mauling happen to her in the first place. Every adult in charge of her well-being at the time she was attacked should be in prison.

I carry an XD-S 3.3 in .45ACP most days. I love the way it carries and the way it shoots. It's ergonomics aren't as good as my CZs, but still darn good. As far as the grip safety is concerned, I find it to be a non-issue. If I have a proper grip on the firearm, the grip safety IS depressed. I don't have to think about it, just like I don't have to search for the trigger.
-
Congrats on the new CZ. I have to commend you on your impeccable taste in firearms, sir. My P-01 is my favorite all-around gun I own.

that's a damn fine looking handgun! The slide reminds me a lot of a Sig except for the trigger guard.

I understand your position on external safeties. I feel the same way. But, a gun with a decocker is still ready to rock and roll when you draw it...just like a DAO. You don't have to do anything to the decocked pistol to put into action. The decocker is only there to put the hammer to a much safer, half-cocked, position after you insert a mag and charge the weapon.

Isn't that ironic? In the 80's we spent a sizable amount of money and effort to oust fundamentlist extremist Shah's and their ilk to install greedy dictators that we could reason with. Now we are doing the opposite.
-
If those people don't want freedom enough to fight for it, I find it hard to justify our involvement any more. Missiles, drones, boots on ground, and airstrikes aren't cheap.

but...Obama told them to stop this time

Heard some folks talking about several Iraqi cities falling back into the hands of extremists. Looks like things are NOT getting any better over there. http://online.wsj.com/articles/iraqi-drama-catches-u-s-off-guard-1402529874 http://www.cnn.com/2014/06/12/world/meast/iraq-violence/ http://www.usnews.com/news/politics/articles/2014/06/12/obama-iraq-will-need-additional-us-assistance

There's no doubt that a lot of parents don't pay enough attention to what's going on with their kids. We see it when their kid gets shot while committing a robbery and their response is 'my lil <insert name here> was a good kid, he didn't deserve to die'. We saw it with the Columbine kids once the investigation started, they turned up all kinds of evidence of their planning. Also, it's not just parents...look how many people knew something was wrong with the VA Tech shooter and the Gabrielle Giffords shooter. Still, there are cases where an otherwise good parent had no clue. Kids are good at hiding stuff (my parents never found out about a LOT of stuff I did growing up). I'm a little torn about the bullying. On one hand, we all dealt with bullies growing up and we either learned to deal with them or we got past it in some other way. Kids have always been mean to one another. It seems to be worse now, but I'm not sure how much of it is sensationalism by the media and how much of it is an actual increase in occurrences.
-
These lil monsters leave a wake of destruction in their paths. Imagine trying to live the rest or your life, if it were your own child who did this. I know we'd like to think we know our kids, but most of the parents of these shooters saw no outward signs to indicate their sons would do such a horrible thing.

are school shootings directly damning the ar-15?

if they think guns are scary...they should imagine a society without them...where strong can take anything from the weak that he wants, because they lack the even playing field to fend him off. -

hmmm...are you avoiding the question? I'm not saying there's anything wrong with plugging your own blog. After all, it is interesting material and quite relevant here. You'd stand to gain more hits and fans, by being straightforward is all I'm saying. -
"What are you so afraid of that you have to carry a gun?"
BigK replied to daddyo's topic in General Chat
I've never been asked this question either, but I'd be inclined to be polite and informative, if possible. I care a lot about the "vibe" folks get from the gun community. That being said, some are just looking for an argument and no amount of common sense will disuade them. These types deserve any smartass answers they get. I like ol' Clint Smith...watch him on some videos and TV shows from time to time. -
Glad I'm not the only one who doesn't trust the BBB. I searched for a scumbag collection agency, who was mistakenly calling me to make threats on a bull$hi+ debt. I found hundreds of sites where people were complaining about them lying and breaking FDC rules, but the BBB gave them an A for responding to each complaint with a canned statement. In each case the complaintant was dissatisfied with the result, but the BBB closed the complaint in favor of the company. Gotta be some kind of scam going on there.

I'm also curious...is this your blog that you're plugging? -
I did score some .32 auto today through. And I like shooting ammo that costs more than 30 cents per round. ;)
You really did find a deal on .32 auto compared to what I've been seeing. I haven't seen a box of 50 for under $23.99 in a long while. My lil P-32 is so lonely since the days of 30 cent ammo to feed it, LOL.
34 seems a little young to have a daughter old enough to have a vehicle. Anyways, good for them. +1 for the good guys.
I noticed that too. Both parents are 34, the daughter is 17, and there was a 5 yr old son in the home as well. They apparently got knocked up at about 16 or 17 yrs of age, depending on when bdays fall. The fact that they are still together is welcome and worthy news all by itself. Add the fact that they are gun owners and took such decisive action and you have an even better story. Apparently, at least one article said the police are treating this as a murder investigation. I hope not, based on what news we have now, but who knows what else is going on. The suspect that survived caught one in the chest and one in each thigh.
