We do't have an income tax here in TN. I don't want to be them, I just want TN to have what they have :D.

Unlike a real sales tax holiday, Genesis is still gotta pony up sales tax to the state, so the discount comes from their margins. Since the sales tax holiday is almost a 10% discount from the state, you can still shop around anyway and expect to save even more. The retailer will still have wiggle room, since this savings isn't coming out of their margins. For the retailer, it's a no brainer, sell as much as 6.5 times as much product on a sales tax holiday as on a normal weekend and it's a scheduled event that they can prepare for. Plus, since the customer is getting a discount from the state, further discounts from the retailer means less wasted time with tire-kickers and more time calling in background checks.

that was awesome, even my arachnophobic wife loved it

Makes me wonder how CCI and other .22LR ammo mfg stock is doing.

Apparently they have a sales tax holiday on guns, ammo, and archery supplies this weekend. Why can't TN have something like that? http://www.myfoxmemphis.com/story/26452138/mississippi-gun-shops-ready-for-sales-tax-holiday-weekend The article mentions that SC has one too and gun sales went up 650% in a single day.

I haven't asked about unlubed bullets, but you might try the guys at S and S Casting. They were very accommodating and had awesome prices. http://www.snscasting.com/

I assume this woman attempted to pay at the pump, but couldn't. Then she realizes the pump is already "on" and starts pumping anyway. Until you told her, I'd bet she had no clue YOU were the source of her free gas, she just thought she hit the free gas lottery. She'd probably have driven off and bragged to her friends about getting free gas, if you had been a little later getting out there. Some people don't see this as theft any more than they would if they found 2 Hershey bars instead of 1 in the trap door of the vending machine. It's sad how loose many peoples' morals have become.

If you want "a real pocket cannon," have you looked at the Springfield XD-s? It's almost the exact same size as the Shield. I pocket carry mine about 3 to 4 days a week at work. Hard to beat 5+1 rounds of Hornady 230 gr +P .45 ACP.

I've never told another man he had nice wood before.

I bought an el cheapo Meade scope on Adorama.com a few years back for $40-45. They're a little higher now, because they come in a padded case. It's clear out to 100 yds even in low light. I'm not about to say it's as good as the expensive ones, but for what I need it for (100 yds max), it's perfect. It's plastic, so it's kind of light, but the tripod is stable and easily adjustable. If you look around you can find one cheap http://www.walmart.com/ip/Meade-20-60x60-Spotting-Scope/14550475 P.S. Go with the angled lens, it's MUCH easier to use, IMHO.

My wife broke the bad news to me yesterday. I'm not happy either. Aside from The Sportsman Channel and The Outdoor Channel, it's getting harder and harder to find good TV lately. There's nothing else on like Longmire! I watch a few reality shows, like Broken Skull Ranch, Hell's Kitchen, and Master Chef, but I don't think they're the same as crap like Pawn Stars and Survivor.
Please explain what you mean by "flex" in a strong mount. Bill
I'm curious too. I've setup 2 650s and a 550 and with the bench firmly lag-bolted to wall studs and on a solid footing, I haven't even noticed the slightest amount of "flex". I'm just loading pistol ammo, though. I'm guessing the increased torque of rifle bullets may be why?

I started on a Lee turret and loved it. It can be run as a single stage while learning, if you feel that's necessary. You just disable the auto-indexing feature. I did this a few times when I was calibrating the powder measure and setting the case flare, crimp, and bullet depth. I never reloaded in single stage, though. I have a couple of Dillon XL 650s now and couldn't be happier. I "can" crank out 200-300 on my way out the door to the range, if I want. For me, the beauty of the progressive presses is that my time available for reloading is limited. So, the more ammo I can safely make when i do reload, the better.

A woman calls the police late one night to report people in her shed stealing things. The dispatcher explains that they are very busy and there's no squad car in the area, but that they'll send someone over as soon as possible. She hangs up and calls back a minute later to say: "You don't have to hurry now, because I shot them." Within a matter of minutes 6 squad cars, a dozen officers, a K-9 unit, plus helicopters and an armed response unit show up at her house and happen to catch the burglars red-handed. The officer in charge says to the woman: "I thought you said you'd shot them." She replies: "I thought you said you didn't have anyone available."

Will Hayden (Sons of Guns) arrested for child molestaion "allegedly"
BigK replied to Lumber_Jack's topic in General Chat
I'm with you on this. We clearly don't have all the facts and may never know what really happened. From what I gathered he has custody, charges were filed, he was arrested, released on bond, and the child was placed back in his custody. Is that right? How could they place the child back in his custody until the first charges are cleared? -
I used Lee dies in my Lee turret press for a long time (9mm, 45 acp, 9mm Mak, .38/.357). Then I ran across a sale price on a set of 9mm Hornady dies and 100 free Hornady 9mm XTP bullets that I could not pass up. I thought the dies were much much smoother. The sizing die is where I noticed the most difference. It took far less pressure to size the brass and the return stroke is less jerky and with no sticking (even without lube). The bullet guide jonathon1289 mentioned is very nice, but I couldn't fit the larger lock rings on my tiny Lee turret. When I upgraded to a Dillon press, I moved the 9mm Hornady dies over and was still very satisfied. Only now they felt even smoother all around (maybe due to the increased leverage and stability?). Plus, I got to use the awesome lock rings too. I tried the Lee dies in this press too and could honestly feel the difference in the smoothness of both the up and down stroke. So, I switched back. Then I went and got a 2nd Dillon press for 45 acp I went ahead and got it with Dillon dies. Now I'm spoiled rotten. They are even better than the Hornady dies, but I did miss the Hornady lock rings when I was setting it up.

Can't change status of Trading Post ad

I've had the same issue on For Sale threads too and got the same permissions error. It'd be cool to be able to mark things as sold. -

I knew an ol guy that could do that trick. I knew he stacked the deck for telling the story, but couldn't ever figure out how he knew where I'd cut the deck.

dang, I missed it too

And add that the officer is already suffering from facial fractures from the last time this poor innocent child got within arms reach of him.

dang, it's bad enough to die that young, but after all that hard work, he didn't even get to reap ANY rewards from it...that sucks
I took a look at TN university system tuition rates. Wow. I had no idea it was so expensive now. MBAs from $45K to $70K and more. I would have to sell my house or kill my 401K to even think about finishing a grad degree. No idea how I would even start back up now. Kudos to OP for getting it together.
Two of my co-workers have wrapped up their MBAs and one a PhD in the past couple of years. They say nothing but good things about the overall process and that the feeling of accomplishment surpasses just having their bachelor's degree. All 3 went slow (1 or 2 classes per semester), so the cost and class load is easy to handle and still work fulltime. The problem with all 3 people is that they still work at the same place. They'll NEVER get a fair return on their investment in time/money until they shop that new degree around in the market. Same would hold true for any new marketable skill, I guess.

I like the blk/gray...looks great with the 2-tone. IMHO...black slide + silver frame + wood grips = looks like a Kimber
