I agree 100% with EVERYTHING you just said about hiring practices. If hiring managers choose the best individual, and doesn't base that decision on any of the DEI measures (for or against), they'd get the best outcomes. In the nursing field that might mean most of your labor is female. In engineering most of your labor might be male. I can't think of any circumstance where skin color or sexual preference should be known/considered, let alone be a deciding factor. You nailed it...judge people as individuals and based on their ability only.

So you have to have a different skin color, sex, country of origin, or creed to think differently? Everyone who checks some of the same DEI boxes of the form all think alike? I agree there are some cherry-picked career paths were representing multiple backgrounds is a huge benefit, but in the majority of the STEM or highly skilled labor jobs, for instance, those things are exceedingly less important than qualifications. The soft skills are a good place for diversity and in ALL case we should NEVER let a DEI checkbox disqualify someone from a job. The notion that 2 equally qualified candidates actually exist is rare, let alone common enough to disguise the DEI hire as legitimate. The truth is many companies decide how low they're willing to set the bar to justify a DEI hire over a more qualified candidate. Then the team is stuck working with someone who isn't a good fit and/or is incompatible to work with. EDIT: Before someone gets the wrong idea, a woman from different country, who is not heterosexual will beat out a straight black American male on the DEI meter, so NO, it's not just the vilified straight white male that suffers. The whole system suffers when DEI is more important than hiring the best candidate.

I don't care where you stand on UT vs Alabama, Ford vs Chevy, designated hitter vs real baseball, or even if you put slaw on your BBQ sammich, but Miracle Whip has no place in this conversation, LOL

I think the politicians and main stream media are equally to blame for this predicament. They foment the vitriol as if pitting us against one another is the only way they can achieve their goals. We should be even more afraid of why they don't want unity than we are of the lack of it. EDIT: Even though I'm well aware of this fact, I fall for it all the time.

As long as there's been faith there's been disbelief.

That inner peace you describe is inspiring. It's been my experience that only God can make me feel like that. Thanks for that testimony about the surgery that never happened.

Speaking of "that didn't take long"^^^^^^^

We lost the lead singer of the Oak Ridge Boys last week to ALS.

I hope they have that image on a tshirt soon for his campaign, so I can buy 4 or 5 of them.

An evil man with murderous intent accurately fired a bullet that was headed right for another man's head, but at the last possible second the victim turned his head and the killshot became a flesh wound. I'd say that chain of events is all the evidence many of us need to believe that God saved him. God doesn't owe you any proof and neither do I.

I read about others claiming it was staged too. How nuts do you have to be to think anyone would allow someone to shoot your ear from 130 yds away? Shows how illogical and blinded by hate some people can be.

sounds legit to me

He pushed his wife and daughters to the ground and shielded them with his own body to save them. Had he not done so, they might be dead instead of him. Sounds divine to me.

Spoken like a true expert on the topic. Geez

For someone whose "people" have been stereotyped for far too long, you sure do paint with a mighty broad brush there.

I loved "The Last of Us" so much, I think I've watched season 1 three times. -
If you look in the fun pics thread alone, we have users with nearly a terabyte worth of meme pics posted. Just doesn't seem like the total size of all pics could be the problem, but I've been wrong way more often than I can count.

This case notwithstanding, there's all kinds of laws and oaths to keep this kind of stuff private, but the whole nation is clambering for gun reform in place of mental health reform. The gun mfg and the gun stores didn't know she was a psycho and couldn't have done squat to prevent these murders, but her shrink(s) sure as hell knew and might be the only ones left alive to blame. Makes more sense than blaming the gun or society.

I have nothing better to do, so I already bought tickets for the Sat. afternoon showing of Horizon. I'll be in a leather'ish electric recliner with a belly full of popcorn and soda, so if I fall asleep it'll be a comfy, albeit expensive, nap. LOL

You could be right, but for me and a lot of my circle of friends abortion, the economy, and gun control are my big 3.

and they ask why it is better to not just have Concealed Carry
BigK replied to DHF's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I doubt there's much reliable "proof" either way, but my experience with members of the OC community aren't pleasant. I get a sense that most (not all) OC'ers are seeking attention and like @deerslayer said, most often have junk holsters you can buy at Walmart and almost zero sense of situational awareness. Plus, I'm all for our rights, but I feel like it's a game of trying to scare teh anti-gunners and/or wanting a confrontation. -
There wasn't even space for another digit on that sign. They never even imagined gas at $1, let lone what we pay now.

...and despite being 50+ years older the real Charger will still be around in 50 more years because somebody actually loves it.
