  1. I like the looks of it and if it works as advertised, you can't beat the price. However, that's a lot of weight hanging out on the end of the barrel. Do you notice the added weight much? Seems like you would.
  2.   I am way too impatient for beam scales. I tried the Lee scale that came with my press and I tried an RCBS that I picked up used. The RCBS was a BIG step up in quality, but digital scales are the way to go, IMHO.   While you're on Amazon.com, check out their tumblers. I bought the one below and after 3 years, the tub finally cracked and I had to duct tape it together. That lasted another year, then I emailed the company to ask about buying a new tub. They sent me one for free...pretty darn cool of them, if you ask me.   http://www.amazon.com/Frankford-Arsenal-Master-Tumbler-Kit/dp/B000TTILBC/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1417642972&sr=8-3&keywords=reloading+tumblers
  3.   I laid 3/4" MDF on my bench and used bolts to go thru the MDF and the wood of the bench with wide fender washers underneath. Has held up for years of pushing and pulling. Where the lag screws come in handy is anchoring some sturdy L-brackets to a couple of wall studs. You definitely don't want your bench/table to have any wobble in it when you work the press.
  4.   I think you made a very wise decision. I reloaded my first several thousand rounds on the cheaper Lee 4-hole turret press. My only regret was not getting the classic. I still have it setup for 9mm Makarov ammo. It's been worth every penny.     If you haven't gotten a scale yet, I can't say enough good things about the Franford Arsenal Digital Scale]. I paid nearly $30 for it and consider that a steal, but at only $20 you really can't beat it. I've been using mine for about 5 years and haven't even needed new batteries yet. http://www.amazon.com/Frankford-205205-Arsenal-Reloading-Scale/dp/B002BDOHNA/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1417642069&sr=8-6&keywords=frankford+arsenal
  5. too soon, bro...too soon
  6. I signed up for TFA at a gun show a few years back and they gave me a stack of these cards. The back had details about what requirements an HCP holder must have and something about how barring legally armed people won't prevent crime. Sadly, it didn't take long to give them all out to posted businesses.
  7. I couldn't sharpen a knife worth a darn before I got a Sharp Maker. It'll make you look like a knife sharpening wiz. Now I have people who send knives home with me to sharpen all the time. I think they sell course rods too. You'll need them to get an edge started on harder steel like durell81 said.

In short barreled guns, I think +P ammo is a good choice for mitigating some of the velocity you lose. I caught a sale on 124 gr Speer Gold Dot +p in 50 rd LE boxes. I love them.
  9. I like this guy
  10. I think I'd make a cleaner cut with a Dremel cut-off wheel than I would a hacksaw, but that's just me. That's prolly a moot point, since I'd be filing, sanding, and painting anyway.
  11. Dang, it was bad enough after the first couple of posts when I thought I was only a gun snob, but now I realize I may be a snoob too. Oh, the shame.
  12. Have you been in there since Everything Weapons bought it? I'm wondering if it's better/worse than before.
  13. I was in Outpost Armory on Friday looking around and killing time. I couldn't believe the number of people encircling the checkout stand waiting on their background checks to go through. There must have been 20 people or more of them and they were all clogging up the aisles. That made it hard to get around and look at stuff. I did manage to score some .22 and Bullseye, so I'm not whining.
  14. I'm also glad you posted the link to this scope. I picked one up as well. This is a huge step up from Vortex I was about to buy, which is still a good deal since it comes with a PEPR mount.
  15. black cherry, all the way...reminds me of these red wattle grips from Marschal Grips on my 82
  16. only a few foods I won't eat...mushy greens, evil baby cabbages that smell like farts, squid/octopus/eel, and no organ meats
  17. I heard an instructor warn a student when we arrived for class that his gun likely wouldn't make it to lunch time. He offered to loan the student his spare, but the guy insisted on using his own. After holding up the class a couple of times and then sitting out for a few drills to work on his (cleaning, I assume), he took the instructor up on his offer in the afternoon session. I felt bad for the guy for not getting to train with his very pretty and very expensive gun, but that's the way it goes some times. Some guns won't make it through long shooting sessions without maintenance and cleaning.
  18.   Woo Hoo, thanks, OS!!! just got one for $119 shipped using the Make An Offer button too. For the record they rejected $110, $115, and $118.   So, I guess I'm building a pistol now.... :woohoo:
  19. I want my next build to be tungsten with black small parts and dark gray furniture...I love that look.
  20. I'm sure there's bad batches of components and/or days when a machine needed recalibrating and the like, but I still find it odd how hit and miss stuff like this is. Some rave about how good theirs is and others had just the opposite experience. It even seems to happen, but less often, with the high-end brands.
  21. reminds me of these oldies but goodies
  22. I've got the one from AIM and love it. Easy to clean, good lubricity, works in every gun I tried it in so far.
  23. what's so exciting about a candle with holly and berries? :hiding:
  24. See, this lil guy will talk her into getting a .45, he'll take her to the range and "teach" her to shoot it, she'll hate the recoil, miss her target, develop a permanent flinch reflex, and learn to hate guns and shooting....all because of this idiot.
  25. dang, that looks fantastic! I love it.
