  1. I liked 8 the best. Looks just like she's pushing him off the cliff. LOL
  2. These are the people the media will continue to use as the face of American gun owners. You'd think the only people ever hit by a tornado lived in a trailer park and everyone who owns guns is like this idiot.
  3. I don't even own a computer nowadays. I use one every day at work, but at home I just use a tablet. All I do is surf the web, check email, and read TGO anyway.
  4. If enough people liked Macs for them to have a respectable share of the market, it might be worthwhile for more scumbag virus writers to attack that OS. It's not that Mac users are immune, just too small of a target to bother with. In 2012 600K Mac users (probably a large percentage of them, LOL) were hit with "Flashback" . Before that even Linux got hit with koobface and BadBunny. It's a numbers game from both directions. Virus writers won't "waste" their time to hit small chunks of people like the Mac community. Likewise, to make Windows as secure as Linux would make the user experience less desirable and anger too many people.
  5. Man, you picked a fantastic round to get started on. If you get Lee .357 dies, they will not turn down far enough to do .38 spl. I don't even know why Lee makes .357 dies, because you CAN use .38 spl dies to load .357 (the only difference is how far you screw them down). I'm a tinkerer, so measuring tools and fine tuning come natural to me. That made the turret press the best choice for me starting out. I just fiddled with the sizing/decapping operation until I got it perfect. Then I added the next die and fiddled until I got it perfect. To me this was the same (in concept) to starting on a single stage. I didn't just screw in all the dies and test my setup by shooting the ammo. That brings me to what I think is the most important choices...the tools. I hated the beam scales with a passion, but the darn things work real good. I just don't have the patience. I lucked up and got a real good digital scale real cheap on my first try thanks to Dolomite's advice (Franklin Arsenal mini digital). The other important tool to become good at using is calipers. You're gonna need to be able to use them to check the over all length (OAL) of a finished cartridge, check the flare you put on the brass (less = better), the crimp, and even the brass length. I respectfully disagree about some things others have said, like powder choice. Low volume powder like Bullseye has been around for over 100 years for a reason. It meters well and is very economical. Unless you are trickling each cartridge's charge using a scale, you're probably converting a weight to an estimated volume. Small powder converts from grains to cubic centimeters the best. So, it's a good choice for case activated powder measures on turrets and progressives. No denying it's less forgiving than bulkier powders, but you don't start reloading if you don't think you can be careful. If you can't measure accurately with small amounts...save yourself a hospital bill and buy ammo at Walmart.
  6. I've never seen a bad Bill Whittle video, he just seems to "get it" and is better than most at explaining it too.
  7. It's not historical, but I've recently finished tthe Monster Hunter series by Larry Correia. It's modern fantasy, only way better written than usual. Characters are realistic and flawed and the author is clearly a gun nut, because he does a great job of getting the weapons and gun fights right.
  8. I can barely fathom the stupidity it takes for this dimwit to see a senior citizen with a HOLSTERED handgun and the only scenario his tiny little brain can imagine is that a black guy with a gun is about to shoot up the place, must save the day. So many things wrong with this picture that could be avoided even by watching mainstream news. First, the chances of a black gunman shooting up a Walmart is slim...only drugged up white guys and Muslims would do that. Second, bad guys don't wear holsters...duh! Third, with all the anti-gun hate we see daily, how can you not be aware of the concept that legally armed citizens are out there? As for Walmart, a big lawsuit or a bunch of pestering letters from either side would be most easily remedied buy posting their stores. So, here's to hoping they don't get flooded with letters from either side and that the victim doesn't sue them (crazier suits have sues and won). I'm not a fan of Walmart, but it's not because of them, I respect their business model and admire their success. It's their clientele that I hate rubbing paint and elbows with.
  9. Whipped this up in Excel...hope it helps. Wish I could post it as a spreadsheet, but a pic will have to do...
  10. A meeting with the NRA leadership would be great. I'm definitely going! I'd love to go to the Foundation banquet that Thursday evening, but I won't go by myself. Nonetheless, I'll be there either Fri and Sat or Fri and Sun. I'm really looking forward to it.
  11. When I was 16, I was a way bigger idiot with a car load of friends than I was alone or with just one friend. Like someone else said, I'm lucky to be alive after all the ignorant crap I pulled.
  12. Twice, I've had to get into my truck from the passenger door before and crawl across the seat due to a-holes like this. Both times it was at work here in Franklin and both times it was chicks in giant SUVs. Luckily I've been able to fold my mirror and get out safely.
  13. My deepest condolences for your losses. The timing couldn't have been much worse. I've had my vehicle broken into a couple of times. It really sucks. With all that glass, door locks only keep honest people honest. They won't stop anyone willing to make some noise. I feel a little better with my valuables in a safe under my seat, but I'm sure that a prepared and determined thief will bring a tool to cut a steel cable.
  14. I wondered what they were doing across from Lowe's...figured more apartments or something like that. It does make sense for Walmart, but dang, I hate getting on Sam Ridley Pkwy.
  15. thanks for the info, but dang that's expensive
  16. I'm so glad everyone else is liking this movie as much as I did. I think Eastwood should get an Oscar for this one...maybe Cooper too. Now I can't wait to watch it again tonight!
  17. Anyone ever hear what happened with the plan to put a Walmart in La Vergne? I heard it was going in across from Fergus Rd. then I heard it was going in on the corner of Fergus Rd, now I'm hearing they're putting it on Sam Ridley in Smyrna. While I can't in all fairness blame her for poor traffic planning, I can't pass up the opportunity to join you in whining about this moronic intersection. The fact that A-holes have an empty left turn lane to use at all should be evidence enough that we don't need one. I'm with you, we needed a dedicated right tun off of Nri Shreibman ADDED to the intersection. It's way worse than it was before now. And the mayor has the nerve to send cops to the KFC parking lot to police traffic trying to cheat the intersection after they created the problem. I almost don't blame the A-holes that go thru the KFC lot, but I hate the ones that go straight thru the left turn lane or bully their way into traffic at the intersection. Then you look at the other side of the street, coming from I-24...they made the middle lane a left turn OR straight lane. That makes no sense either!
  18. I've been eyeing one of these since they were $249, but never pulled the trigger. Even after I started reloading and was able to get the cost of 9mm down to an affordable price, it still seemed like a sensible investment in the long run. Now that .22 LR ammo is so hard to come by and is approaching the cost of my 9mm reloads, the only purpose I have for one is when I'm teaching someone to shoot. Assuming I can reload a 9mm for 13 cents or buy a .22LR for 10 cents, I'd have to shoot nearly 14K rounds to break even on a Kadet Kit, but I still want one, LOL. It's just not much of a priority unless .22 lr goes down to around 6 or 7 cents and becomes more available in bulk.
  19. I'm not a fan of the recent mayor, personally. I'v lived in Lake Forrest almost 6 yrs now. It was MUCH better when I moved in than it is today.   My water bill nearly tripled. We went from fancy police cars to fancy police SUVs. I worked next to the place that equipped them. They were NOT cheap. We lost several really good police officers that I liked during her administration. We built sidewalks and walking bridges to nowhere. Overall, I'm just saying we are NOT better off than before she was elected.
  20.   Are you kidding? My butt was puckered first few rounds of every new batch. It took me several trips to the range to relax and enjoy shooting up my kids' college funds.
  21.   I agree, I can't imagine someone watching this flick and walking away disappointed. As far as walking away pumped up goes, I didn't expect to walk away from this movie feeling good. Like you said, his story is too heavy, tragic, and heartbreaking for that.   If any of you are someone or know someone who did anything heroic in battle, you can relate to my favorite scene in the movie. Spoiler alert not necessary...he runs into someone whose life he'd saved over there and Bradley Cooper did an amazing job of showing how uncomfortable it would make a real hero when someone called him a hero to his face. I found it to be one of the most powerful scenes because if you're a big, strong, bad-ass, door kicking, well-trained, killing machine...like Kyle was trained to be...he's got to be a confident and strong-willed SOB, with a little swagger in his step ya know? Yet, when confronted with his achievements or being thanked face-to-face for his heroism, he's embarrassed to receive that kind of attention. It's was a real "lump in your throat" moment for me in the film.
  22. Oh come on! He didn't even have a thigh holster and trauma-hawk. How could anyone take him serious as an operator? edit: yeah, that one's for you No Ban Stan
  23. I'm for whatever it takes to get as many people shooting SAFELY as possible. It's great for the economy, great for my flavor of politics, and good for our country.
  24. that was REALLY cool seing that bright red barrel through that handguard
  25. That's what I call a true "Come to Jesus" moment...wow! Glad nobody was hurt and that you didn't have it loaded.
