  1. I agree 100%. I also have a hard time reaching the slide release on a Mossberg with a pistol grip. The beauty of a Mossberg with a stock is that safety, trigger and slide release are optimally located.
  2. I haven't owned a computer in years. I use one at work, but at home all I have is a Gen 3 iPad. It sits in a handy little Logitech bluetooth keyboard cradle, so I don't have to use the onscreen keyboard. I miss not having a mouse sometimes, but more for the right-click than the pointing accuracy. I kind of got used to making the quick un-pinching motion on the screen before I tap a link. It's so easy and I'm so used to it that I can do that almost as fast as I could click with a mouse.
  3. For me, the ergonomics is the first thing I noticed. Like the CZ 75 series, the 97 has that nattural point of aim that I love. The way the grip fees in my hand is the 2nd thing I noticed. I don't know whaat the actual circumferences are, ,so I can only go by how they feel to me. With the thin aluminum grips a CZ 97 doesn't feel any bigger in my hand than a 1911. The P220, on the other hand, feels about as girthy as a Glock 21 in my hand. I found myself having to readjust my grip more after each round with the P220. I think it needs some checkering or something. It could also be that for even for a single stack, it's just too wide for my hands. edit: I forgot to mention...I'm a huge fan of decockers. CZ put theirs in the perfect spot and it works much easier. The P220 is too much of a reach for my thumb. Add the long vertical range of motion and I just can't operate it well with my strong hand.
  4. After giving 1911s a fair shake and trying my best to like the P220 grip, I got a 97 BD. I'm glad I did. I wish they'd make P-01 size version.
  5. Lots of gun owners refer to a break-in period (first couple hundred rounds or so). I don't believe in it, myself. In fact one of my friends seats his 9mm reloads to near the max length and I reload mine about halfway between the min and max. Neither of us have cycling issues in our CZs even when they're new. I think a CZ trigger feels a little gritty out of the box. It doesn't affect reliability, though and it does go away quickly as the fire control group parts get some wear. I recommend using a snap cap and dry fire the problem away before your first range trip.
  6. It's stories like this that make me realize how lucky I am to live in TN. Our gun laws are definitely not perfect, but they could clearly be worse. I hope this failed policy in MD was extremely costly for the state's taxpayers, because they elected the idiots that passed the law. Stupidity SHOULD be expensive.
  7. I don't know if I'd go so far as to say reloading is fun, but it's definitely satisfying. If I ever stop feeling a sense of independence and satisfaction from ammo that I didn't have to go buy, it'll be a sad day for me and a lonely future for my reloading equipment. Until then, even if I only break even on cost, I'm still getting something out of it that I can't get by driving to Walmart.
  8. I thought they were awesome looking guns with some cool features. I just can't see any justification for that price. I could do a lot of damage in a gun store with the money it'd take to buy one and walk out with at least 3 guns on my wish list that I'd like more.
  9. There's nothing like an all metal gun with a SA/DA trigger and an hammer. I'm biased, but I think the CZ 75 is the closest model to getting it perfect. Have you shot it yet? That's when you'll be the most pleased with your decision.
  10. Here's and example of how I shop for reloading. Buy real cheap bullets in bulk $80/1000 with free shipping. Bullseye powder from Outpost Armory $22/lb Winchester primers from DLM at gun show by the case last fall $134. Tula is even cheaper by the case. I recover my own brass plus some extras at the range and this is a fun hobby for me, so my labor is free. So, powder = $00.05, bullet = $00.08, and primer = $00.03 for each bullet. At 16 cents per bullet a box would cost me $8. I haven't been able to find this Perfecta ammo in stock for $7/box and hate depending on Walmart for my ammo supply, so I'm good with reloading.
  11.   leave it to HBO and they'll "gay it all up" every time
  12. I'm with you 100% on UTG! I put a drop-in super slim handguard on my M&P Sport and loved it so much that I put the 15" free float on my last AR build. It was also awesome, so I didn't hesitate to pick the 13" rail for my AR pistol (10.5" w/ 3.25" linear comp). It looks fantastic and I love how light and yet strong it is. I got their 11mm to picatinny adapter for my sister's .22 rifle, because it has 3 tightening screws to keep her scope from moving. It worked so good that I put one of their QD one-pc scope mounts on my &P 15-22 to hold my 3-9X30 scope. I know it's just a rimfire, but that thing is rock-solid. The guy at their booth said their new rails will be available soon. THey have picatinny at the front and rear of the handguard and a smaller ridged section between without picatinny. It looks even sleeker and will probably be even lighter.
  13. There's some mega-giant forums out there on the Net and they didn't have booths either. Maybe that's too much to ask.
  14. Aside from the friends (netmindr and NoBanStan) I went there with, I didn't see one single TGO person that I recognized. We need a better way to represent! They really did a great job putting this together. The maps were right, the layout was brilliant, the venue was big enough for all 15-20K people to enjoy themselves without feeling overly crowded, and the people working were nice, friendly, and helpful. I can't wait to go back tomorrow, even though I'm sore and tired from all the walking/standing. Note to self: desk jobs make you soft.
  15. I hope you can make it to the NRA convention this weekend. They have one of every CZ in their lineup along with all their rifles and shotguns. In fact, the highlight of the show for me today was meeting Angus Hobdell. He was one of their first successful pro shooters and now runs CZ Custom out in AZ. He's an awesome guy. He had some cool stories about getting in/out of countries with his guns back in the day for international matches.
  16. This is straight from the Hodgon website (Berry's hollow-back round nose thick plate bullets) BULLET WEIGHT124 GR. BERB HBRN TP ManufacturerHodgdon PowderTitegroup Bullet Diameter.356" C.O.L.1.150" Starting Load Grains3.6 Velocity (ft/s)957 Pressure27,700 PSI Maximum Load Grains4.1 Velocity (ft/s)1,057 Pressure32,700 PSI From what I've read, Titegroup is a great powder and I have it on strong authority (a Hogdon rep at the NRA convention today) that Titegroup production is being ramped up in hopes people switch from HP 38 and Win 231. If I understood correctly, the way those 2 were manufactured is an older/slower process and Titegroup is easier/quicker. I may switch to it myself when I run out of the 2 above for my 45 acp loads.
  17. If you got a like new RAMI 2075 for $325, I'd say you made out like a bandit. I don't recall seeing one in that ballpark...EVER. Kudos

I got a buddy with one that I've shot quite a bit. I think they're VERY fun to shoot. He has an Eotech XPS 2 on his and that makes it even more fun to shoot. My choice would be a green laser with pressure pad, personnally.
  19. I chose CZ over other brands, because to me the pros outweigh the cons. In fact, the ergonomics and accuracy alone outweigh the cons for me but that's just me. I also think they're good looking guns. Love the lines and little contours that they have. I prefer DA/SA handguns anyway, so that's a plus as well. The biggest drawback would be the cost and availablility of accessories and gear. Mags cost more, holsters have to almost exclusively be ordered online, and currently I believe you have only one choice for tritium sights (Meprolight). I've heard some say weight is an issue, but if you compare models of equal size, I think you're only squabbling over 3 or 4 ounces. Your striker-fired fans don't like the heavy first pull of the trigger or the take-up of a DA/SA, but I like it. I have 6 CZ pistol (82, P-01, PCR, SP-01, Phantom, and Shadow) and I'd put their accuracy and reliability up against anything on the market. You already trust the reliability, so I won't beat that horse. I think the accuracy is due to the comfort in your hand and the much lower than average bore axis. I took a Glock 17 to a class once and used a Glock 34 in IDPA for a while and honestly, it beat my thumb to death (small hands). I was actually bleeding by the end of the day. The beavertail on my CZs don't do that. I prefer the decocker models and find them safer to carry at half-cocked and safer when making ready due to being able to drop the hammer safely. However, my SP-01 and my Shadow are the ones I've used most in IDPA and they were a pleasure to shoot. Hope my ramblings helped. I love my P-01 the best, it's a G19 slayer for sure, LOL. CZ discontinued their best polymer gun, the Phantom. If you ever run across one, you'll love it. It feels just like the steel models only lighter. Too bad they never made a compact version of the Phantom. I have friends that swear by their P-07s, though. I just prefer the PCR and P-01 the most.

I don't see how Taurus can afford her.
  21. +1 on being jealous...that is one sexy gun right there   I bet it's gonna be a LOT of fun to shoot
  22. Tell me about it. I had the wife convinced it was a good idea and everything.
  23. I've bought way more NRA gear than they've given me over the years.   I can't even give the hats away and have so many of their duffles and shirts and cheap knives and lights, that I usually skip the giveaways most of the time and go straight to the sites that offer $5 off when I renew.
  24.   I hadn't gotten that far into the thought process yet. Glad you mentioned it, because sure enough...there is no poultry allowed inside the city limits. I guess I won't waste any more time thinking about fresh eggs.
  25. I'm going with a couple of other guys on here either Fri or Sat (all day). I intend to go back with family the other of the 2 days to see anything I missed.   I'm hoping to sit in on a few of those seminars. They sound very interesting, plus it's a good chance to rest my legs, LOL.   I'll be sure to wear my black XD-s hat with Big K on the back. Please stop me and say hi, if you see me there.
