1. I've been eyeing a Pendleton safe for years, but they're so darn expensive. These seem to be about half the price, but I can't help but consider how big of a safe I could buy for the same money.   I can't wait to hear what you think of yours when you get it.   In the meantime, I love to tinker around in the garage. There may be a lazy susan build in my near future, if I can find the parts I can't make myself.
2.   That's taking it way too far, IMO. In fact, I'd say the way they did you is borderline defamation of character.
3.   Sounds like you think the writing is on the wall, so to speak, where you are. If so, I think your short game is spot-on. Take as much with you when you go as possible and hopefully it happens on your terms. I've heard it said that staying in one job too long in IT is the kiss of death. Promotions are harder to get than better jobs; market value pay is hard to get without switching jobs every few years; and learning/applying new skills is hard when you've only had one environment to work in for a while.
4. A month or 2 ago IT recruiters were nagging the hell out me, but I told them I'm not looking. It was true, I wasn't looking. I loved my gig and had no intention of leaving for a LONG time. This was, after all, the best job I've ever had. I was doing what I love, getting paid a fair salary for it, and the work culture was everything I could ask for.   A couple of Mondays ago, I got an email from work at 6 pm at night, but I ignored it until a co-worker texted me to ask if I got an email too. When I checked, it was a damn "it is with deep sadness that we inform you..." email saying I was fired, because the company was losing money. My security access was revoked and by 8 pm, they'd shut down our email as well. Turns out 1/3 of the company got that same email and we were all truly blindsided by the news.   Moral of the story...strike while the iron is hot.
5. How the heck do you get enough leverage to work the bolt on that thing? LOL They tend to be hard enough to open as it is.
6. damn, that sucks   mind if I ask?...without an admission of guilt, how do they know the transfer took place on company property? video?    best of wishes on the job hunt
7.   yeah, don't blame you when you put it that way...unless the $150 bag lasts more than 3X as long, it's a no-brainer to save the $100
8.   Not sure if it matters, but Maxped uses 1000D polyester and most of the less expensive brands only use 600D polyester. Again, it may not matter, especially if the worst your bag will see is the floor next to your desk or the floorboard of the car. Also, don't know how important double-stitched seams and YKK zippers are either.   Unless I'm mistaken, that bag looks like it's copied after the larger Kodiak (18" height instead of 15"), not the Sitka.
9. All I have is guns, ammo, other weapons, survival tools, camping gear. I have some medical supplies, but no food/water stockpile.
10. Best all-around bag I've ever owned is my Maxpedition Sitka. It'll JUST hold a 15.4" laptop, but isn't too big to fill up with stuff I can't bear not to have with me. I've had mine for years and carry it every day, yet it still looks brand new...these things are really rugged, like all their gear.   I also have the larger version, Maxpedition Kodiak. If you want something smaller, they have a Maxpedition Malaga as well. Hard to go wrong with anything Maxpedition makes, IMHO.   A note about their gearslinger bags: if you're right-handed the strap goes across your body and rests on your left shoulder. This makes it easy to swing the bag around and use your right hand to get stuff out or access the "hidden" pouch for your gun.  BUT, this comes with a drawback...the bag kind of hangs more onto your right hip, making it awkward to get a gun out of its holster. So, they make the same bag for lefties called an S-Type, but it's not easy to draw a gun from the bag, if you carry yours inside the bag and you're a rightie. You may want to mull over the idea, when you decide which one to get.   EDIT: This guy does great reviews on YouTube, if you can get past the accent.. 11. I lower the seat when I'm done...one less argument to have with the misses...but after 20 years of complaining, she still won't put the fresh roll back on the holder instead of balancing it on the empty one...life's not fair, LOL.     BTW...my best bathroom prank ever was unrolling a few feet of paper and drawing a spider on a sheet and rolling it back up. She's deathly afraid of spiders and I never heard the end of that one.
12. I sat on the fence for a very long time watching for a used XL 650 and/or sales...it just never happened. I have seen them used, but seldom less than $40 or $50 off retail and very very rarely.   Best of luck with your search.
13. When my primary carry was a Ruger SP101, I kept quite a few speedloaders close to hand...even made a decent drop-away carrier that held 2. They were just too bulky for my taste, so I carried a couple of speed strips instead and kept 3 or 4 more in my bag and car.
14. this stuff?      I've never bought ammo that has this many warnings in the description. Is this normal? I have no clue.

WTB: Handgun

check out SlickGuns.com. They have them for around $326.
16. I wish I had some intelligent input for your sling conundrum...gotta say, damn gorgeous looking rifle, though...a true work of art
17.   I was as shocked as everyone who witnessed that happen. Wish I could say it was on purpose.
18. The design of pocket holster I made for my XD-s and my Kel-Tec P-32 is identical to the Alabama Pocket Holster. The only difference is that I spent a lot of wasted time fiddling with and tweaking mine to get it perfect (for me). Wish I'd seen a pic of theirs first. It would have saved me a lot of time and Kydex, LOL.    BTW...all the skinny jeans references about those not able to pocket carry always have me rolling in the floor laughing. Good stuff guys.
19. I have a couple of customized CZs. One is a SP-01 with a lot of work done on it and the other is a 75 Shadow Custom. Both are absolutely top-notch shooters that I'll probably never be able to wring the maximum performance out of with my limited skills.   I've had dozens of people give both a try and all were amazed at the trigger and accuracy. For the money, I think anyone, but the most die hard custom 1911 fan would be ecstatic with the SP-01 Shadow.

Papa Johns

First, I'm VERY proud of the fact that so many people complained about the posting that it made a difference and they recognized the potential loss of sales.   Second, I'm happy to know a corporation that big is smart enough to be flexible in their policies like that. In another town that was predominantly anti-gun, taking down that sign would have as much negative effect.   The owner and/or his policy makers probably couldn't care less about the 2nd Amendment rights of citizens in Mt. Juliet, TN, but they care about the money and made a smart choice. I'll take that small win and smile.
21. I've never had a brother-in-law I liked very much, so I'd get mine a single stage press.   Since you seem to like your brother-in-law, I'd recommend a turret press instead.

Steak rant.

anything past medium rare is burnt to me, LOL

Steak rant.

I like to watch Hell's Kitchen and noticed they refer to medium rare as "regular". They kind of act like it's a big deal when someone orders a steak any other way. They usually sear, then finish in an oven, then let the meat rest until it reaches the right temperature before serving. Right or wrong, it looks good on TV.

Steak rant.

My grill at home doesn't get hot enough to properly sear a steak, so I have to pan sear them in a cast iron skillet. They're still good, but not as good as a quality steak house.   If any of you ever get over to Smyrna on a Fri or Sat around 5:30 or 6:00, give Hickory Falls prime rib a shot. Best I ever had.
25. Congrats on the new gun!   Totally bada$$ gun...love to have one too. It's the only gun that I'd be willing to bend over for Uncle Sam for to get an SBR stamp.
