  1. My Christmas highlights were TFO sights for my XDs and some cologne. No guns for me either.
  2. after shooting my Saiga 7.62 this past weekend, I'm jonesing for a real AK too...also looking forward to what folks have to say
  3.   After the permit class, I took 4 advanced handgun training classes with Jeff at SRHEC. The last 2 times I had enough friends and co-workers join me that we were able to fill the class. I learned a lot and enjoyed it immensely.
  4. I'm guessing the first wave of Z's will be the ones who can't fight, are out of shape, or aren't prepared. That makes them the easiest Z's to evade/defeat. If I make it that far, a food shortage will make for a great diet plan.
  5. Do you think a slam-fire is more likely with a rifle buffer and spring? Just wondering, because they seem to have more tension than carbines.
  6. Initial adjustments and periodic sanity checks are the only time I weigh any charges. I agree that weight is theoretically more accurate, but I only use low volume powders like Bullseye and Win231, so volume is surprisingly consistent.   Using a case activated powder drop is perfectly safe to me, especially if you're using an auto-indexing turret or progressive. I think it removes a level of human error, because you're less likely to double charge or skip a charge. As long as you visually inspect as you go to make sure there wasn't a rare mechanical failure, you're gonna be safe.
  7. I had a CZ refinished in Cerakote once and the first time I took it back apart I found a broken spring that I had to replace. I suspect this is why he took an extra week returning my gun. He whined and griped about how hard t was and said that was the last CZ he'd ever work on. So, I'm just saying...if a gunsmith had trouble reassembling a CZ (not even a decocker model, which are even more complicated), that should tell ya how much trouble they are to reassemble.   Worst case, send it to Cajun Gun Works and let David do something awesome to it while he has it to justify the trip. He's probably the foremost expert on CZ decocker guns in the country.
  8. I'd rather have one Sig 220 than 2 Glocks. Getting the 1911 too makes it a no-brainer.
  9. I know it's their employee that screwed up, but good for them for doing what they could to make it better.
  10. The outcome of this story sucks on many levels:   The kid who lost control of the dog will feel guilty that their actions led to their pet's death. The man who shot the dog is obviously a dog lover too and likely feels guilty for having to shoot the poor animal. In the melee he looses control of his own dog and it bites a kid. His own dog could possibly be quarantined due to the bite. The mom probably never imagined their dog would lose it's mind and go after another dog or she wouldn't have let the kid hold the leash.   All in all, just a crappy situation all the way around.
  11. Looks like a good drill and they'll get better with more practice too. Beats static 5 yd target shooting, which does far far less to improve your odds.
  12. I think everyone already covered most of the reasons. I think volume and R&D are the 2 major factors with premium SD ammo. Even cast hollow points with no bonded jacket or petals costs a little more for the precision required to make ammo your life depends on vs target ammo.   Right now they compete based on who can convince you their ammo is more effective. That costs more, but if demand went way up, they'd find a cheaper way to make them and they'd become less effective. See Wolf FMJ ammo quality vs Federal FMJ for how far a mfg will stoop to compete on price.
  13. Noir for the win!!   Women have been using their sexuality since the first caveman dragged one home. Nothing wrong with that or someone figuring out how to make a buck off it.
  14. Wow, thanks for the heads-up, I'll check my Kroger today.
  15. In light of current events, I'd be suspicious if ONE Muslim guy came in and bought ONE prepaid cell phone.
  16.       You 2 make good points, now that I stop and think about it. I am a big fan of how they use the money. You've inspired me to send them a Christmas present, but technically I'm the one that gets the benefit of the gift. Thanks for the reminder.
  17. I've wanted an EOtech for a long time, but couldn't bring myself to spend that much dough. It would probably suit me just fine for my weekend trips to the range too, but I'll never find out.   For starters they knowingly risked the lives of our soldiers to make a buck. Add to that the fact that they defrauded us taxpayers. I just can't forgive either.   Now that doesn't mean that if I owned one I'd chuck it in the trash to show my outrage, but I'd sure as hell send it back if I could get my money back...just out of spite, if nothing else.
  18.   I agree. However, I will sometimes forgive ignorance, but never stupidity. If the guy didn't know, he should have said he didn't know. It would have shown better customer service to take the time to look up the information than to spew false information.
  19. Anyone who would take what another person worked hard to earn gets no sympathy from me. I may not take that as far as to extend the death penalty to include larceny, but I recognize karma when I sees it.
  20. I've been watching ZoNation for years. He's right about a lot more than this. Great video.
  21. My dues are paid up for several years in advance, but I'd buy a Life Membership, if it'd get them off my back about asking for more money. :D
  22.   too true
  23. I won' be going for a few weeks, but not because of any potential attack. I just can't stand the crowds in the first few weeks. I'll wait til it dies down and catch a matinee when the theater is only half full.
  24. With your budget in mind (<$250), my first choice would be a Sig Mosquito and my second choice would be an ATI GSG M1911 . Both would be fun/easy to shoot and would server well.   However, there's a lot of great choices within the next $50, like a Walther P22 for $276 or a Ruger Mk II 22-45 for $293. I'd consider either worth the wait to save a little longer, if it were my money.
