1. I'm seeing a theme here: I carried a Spyderco that I absolutely LOVE for 5 or 6 years until Willis ruined it for me. Now all I want to carry is my Protech Magic. Not only is it the highest quality steel I've ever owned, but the cool factor is over the top. I've never been happier with any of my EDC gear than I am with this knife.
2. Nice color choice...I picked gray. Excellent checkout process. PayPal FTW!!
3. Kudos!! I know how proud I'd be, if I was you. My daughter was nowhere near that good at at that age, but I was proud. I wish she'd stuck to it, but she lost interest when she got in high school. Cherish it while you can and I hope for your sake she never loses interest.
4. I'm not a huge fan of the stock M&P trigger either, but that can be fixed if money is no object. While you're at it, you'll also have to spend some more money to get sights as nice as those that come stock on the XD-s. The other thing I didn't like about the Shield 45 is that that bore axis felt tall to me. It FEELS like there's more gun sticking up above my hand, even if there isn't (I'm not sure, I can't find that measurement anywhere). The 45 Shield feels really really thin in my hand and I wear size M gloves. I think I read that the shield is actually about 0.09" wider, so I'm guessing the added length of the Shield grip front to back lets them round the corners of the grip, giving it a sleeker feel than the squarish Glock-like feel of the XD-s. Add the fact that the 45 Shield is also about a half inch taller (looks like the extra height is all in the grip length), letting you get you get that extra finger on the grip. It just feels better in your hand even if the extra height is a little harder to conceal. Bottom line for me is I'm not selling my XD-s any time soon, but if I didn't already have one, it'd be a REAL tough call between the 2. I like a lot of things about both.
5. Yeah, that was hilarious...he actually expected us to pay him to go drop a deuce. Then we got stopped in a long line of cabs making their way to the taxi stand, so we asked to just pay him and walk the rest of the way. He insinuated that we shouldn't get out yet, so we rode the remaining 1000 feet. With the congestion near the building, that cost a little over a dollar more on the meter, which naturally came out of his tip.
6. Speaking of walking distance...our hotel is in some kind of weird space-time warp...it's about 3/4 of a mile to walk to the convention, but feels more like 5 miles back.
7. Absolutely no issues carrying. No searches, not even a second look.
8. I'm sure the other 2 witnesses know he caused the AD, but with no other victims involved and a fellow's career being at stake, I wouldn't rat out one of my co-workers over this either.
9. Playing devil's advocate: Let's completely suspend disbelief say something mechanical actually did fail and there was absolutely NO human error on the part of the guy with the gun. What happens next? Do they throw the department's armorer under the bus for letting the gun get in a state of disrepair? Do they ban SAO/striker-fired weapons due to the inherent danger of having the hammer/striker already cocked?
10. Life has a funny way of working out. Nothing brings balance to one's life like a good ol' case of food poisoning.
11. I've been slacking for almost 4 weeks (only lost 3 or 4 pounds). I guess that beats gaining. Now that warm weather is here, I better get my act together if I wanna fit into that 2 pc, LOL.
12. When the love of my life life (my 11 yr old Amerian Bulldog, Lucy) had to be put down we used All-Tenn for the service. The cost is by weight and by how fancy you want the urn/box to be. My dog was around 90 pounds and we chose the aromatic white cedar box, so it cost us $255. They were very respectful and helpful and even picked her up from the vet for us after she was put down.
13.   If there was no grass to watch grow or paint to watch dry and nothing sharp to poke my eyes out with, I MIGHT join you at arfcom, but I hope it doesn't come to that.
14. that's all you had to say to make me a believer, LOL...I've never owned a semi auto that would shoot those crappy bullets
15. I've had 3 Kershaw knives (kept one, gave the other to bladeless friends). For the money they are very good knives, but this Launch series looks like they really stepped up their game!!
16. That's easy,  NC700-Forum.com
17.   that is SO true...so, me and another nerd at work started a spreadsheet that we share on Google Docs. It has multiple rows for each vendor and multiple columns for each part. We keep it updated when sales come up so that we can tell with only a few keystrokes what the cheapest build we can make would be.   We got the columns and rows to total up with shipping using formulas that account for combined shipping...because, like I already said, we're nerds.
18. This time next week I'll be packing for the convention. Anybody else as excited as I am?
19. I bought one of these off Willis a while back and absolutely love it. I'm a bit jealous of y'all's cool serialized numbers.
20. Going with another TGO'er. We reserved rooms back in December. We'll be staying within walking distance and the rate was not jacked up due to the event at the time I reserved the room!!!
21. Only time I've seen an Anderson build go bad was when a friend at work built an AR with Anderson receivers that wouldn't cycle by hand. Anderson replaced the upper, but it still didn't work. Problem turned out to be the $10 charging handle he got from eBay. Oops!
22. Welcome to TN and welcome to TGO.
23.   I worked in IT at a place that specializes in credit breaches and monitoring. This was a pretty standard offer as far as I recall. There's a pretty strict set of rules governing what constitutes a breach and what must be done based on the level of the intrusion when personally identifying information is exposed.I just don' remember all the subtleties.
24. I also frequent Primary Arms and AIM Surplus. Like PSA, you can find deals if you have time to wait for a holiday sale. I have seen a decent price from time to time at JoeBob Outfitters too.   Best of luck, $400 is hard to hit without buying Chinese knockoff parts on eBay, LOL. Then again, at least you're skipping the stock :D
25.   24 lbs in 5 weeks is seriously impressive!   I'm with ya about that junk food. I used to live off Taco Bell and fast food burgers.
