Yep, sure does. You'll have your head slightly more erect when using the red dot of course, but it seems like a popular configuration based lb all the pics I saw on Google images.

It doesn't look like you have a front sight mount, so maybe the BUIS aren't an option. If I were building one with your optics budget I'd buy a scope, a mount ,and a red dot. You can get fairly decent options for all 3 on your budget. You'e in luck on the mount, because this wekend you can score a hard to beat Burris PEPR mount on Primary Arms for $60. I'd jump on that before they sell out, because it'll be good for any scope you choose that has a one-inch tube. Plus, the red dot can mount directly on the scope mount. The rest of my money would go on a totally decent Bushnell AR Optics scope for under $123 and a Truglo Tru-Brite. Neither are the best, but both are darn good for the money. Plus,they'll get you by until you can get something better, that is IF you don't wind up liking both like I did.

+1 for the angled iron sights I set my go-to AR up with a variable powered scope (Bushnell 4.5-18 X 40) zeroed for 100 yards and a set of cheap-o 45 degree offset BUIS zeroed at 25 yards. I love the versatility of this setup. I can hit anything I'm a good enough shot to hit at almost any range with this combo. If I were a better shooter, I'd want 3 rifles, but with my limited skillset, this works for me. I call it mulitple minute of close-enough.

I wish I had the talent to do leather tooling. I bought the tools and tried to learn, but sadly I don't have the eye for leather carving.

I'm jealous, mine came with Euro trigger pack. I know I could drill out the trigger and swap parts, but I don't have enough of a problem with the trigger as it is to bother. So, I decided to wait until my number comes up on CZ's list to swap out the trigger pack for free. I definitely want that charging handle, but I don't hate the factory one bad enoungh to spend $53 + shipping...YET. Perhaps more rounds downrange will change that.

This is purely a matter of perspective, I'm sure. I never "grew out of" playing or watching sports, but I did outgrow Hot Wheels, GI Joe, Scooby Doo, and my Big Wheel. Now, I ain't saying your average 25 yr old shouldn't be playing with pokemons; I'm just saying *I* don't get it. I'd be glad to see them get out of Nashville or at least out of the fairgrounds. The expo center in M'boro isn't bad, but even with free parking it's a pain in the rear. I guess Lebanon is as good a place as any.

Since you said the heirlooms come later, I wouldn't break the bank on my son's first, especially knowing how 18 year old boys are. I'd go with something cheap and polymer, expecting him to clean it less often than I'd like to see something better be cleaned. I mean if he beats up an SR9 or an M&P, who cares. If I gave my son a nice revolver or 1911 as a truck gun I'd expect to see surface rust and/or scratches.

I'm 5 out of 6 books into a series by D.J. Molles called "The Remaining". It's your infected, not zombie, type EOTWAWKI type story line. Without giving anything away, it's about an Army Captain who's in a program where he and others like him go into a bunker when there's danger and come out when it's safe and try to rebuild the world.

I watched this back when it was aired. Great to see it again. I love me some fight science like this.
