I'm sorry for your loss, but uplifted by how you honored him. Gorgeous urn, by the way.

Levi's boycott in 5 . . 4 . . 3 . .
BigK replied to monkeylizard's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I wasn't a customer of Levi's to begin with; there are better jeans out there for less. I had nothing against them, however. I guess their CEO knows more about jeans than guns...no surprises. -
I don't know anything about deer, but how they taste...delicious. If a stated does DNA testing, what do they look for?

One could argue it, but one would be wrong. Daylight Saving Time was created to add an extra hour to the evenings from spring to fall. We revert to standard time every fall. National Geographic explains it here on this link.

73-Year-Old Outdraws, Kills Teen Thugs
BigK replied to xsubsailor's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I guess it makes me some kind of blood thirsty warped psycho, but I LOVE hearing stories like this. I'm always glad to hear 2 scumbags died trying to rob someone. I mean, I'm sorry he has to deal with the hassle, but it's better than the alternative. -
Daylight Saving Time starts in the spring and ends in the fall. I'm with y'all though...I hate dark starting so early. That means we all like the fake time (spring/summer) with the the extra hour and hate the real time (fall/winter) without the extra hour added. LOL

It started kind of slow and I lost interest. Sounds like I need to rethink that and give it another try...thanks.

I could be wrong, but I think it's a skill that comes from playing a lot of video games. My neighbor's kid and I got one about the same time and he could fly his like a champ in the same time I was installing my 3rd set of blades due to crashes. I just couldn't get the hang of it and got bored. Ironically, he was so good at it that he also got bored.

If everyone being pulled over acted like this guy and if every copy pulling someone over acted like this cop, the media would have a lot less to report on. This is my modus operandi as well. I'm not riding in a pack of vehicles that outweigh my motorcycle by a ton or more. That's more dangerous than speeding. Plus, I've only been pulled over for speeding once since I was a teenager and never on a motorcycle...ever. Lucky? Strategic? Who knows?

What food stamp recipients buy with their food stamps really DOES matter. Every penny they spend on chips and soda is a penny not spent on real food. For every convenience sized microwavable Chef-Boy-Ardee bowl, they could have a can 3X the size. I'm not saying they don't deserve conveniences in life, but these decisions aren't weighed properly at the beginning of the month and they suffer for it at the end of the month. I think this is where these abuse stem from: bad choices. Many people on food stamps made a bad life choice. That could be as simple as marrying a bum and later becoming a divorced single mother of 3 OR not taking advantage of the overwhelming educational opportunities only afforded to the poor OR making personal choices that render you unemployable. I've got no clue of the percentage of people on food stamps due to bad choices, but I do know that people who make bad choices will do so over and over. Part of the problem is they get that money monthly in a lump sum to cut admin costs. I think that's short-sighted. If the fed would dole out the freebies every Friday instead, there's be less waste, because people can budget a week at a time when they see 1/4 or less of the dollar amount to spend. Even people who make bad choices will be LESS apt to buy $40 worth of T-bones when they only get $90/week. However, that food stamp lottery check that arrives once a month makes them feel like they can afford to waste money on Redbulls and Slim Jims...plus, they 'deserve it' to splurge; they've been hungry the last 7 days waiting on the next check to arrive.

Alabama, Georgia declare state of emergency after pipeline spill

I just figured everything is still Bush's fault, so I didn't bother. -
Alabama, Georgia declare state of emergency after pipeline spill
BigK replied to Grand Torino's topic in General Chat
All this panic did was move the date some people fill up from Monday to Friday/Saturday. I'd bet that a lot of unnecessary trips will be cancelled this weekend out of fear there won't be enough gas to get to/from work next week. All in all, there will likely be LESS gas used in the next few days...meaning, when everything goes back to normal I suspect a lot of the panic buyers' tanks will still be full. -

Not to put words in your mouth, but if I understand our point...panic buying would stop at some price. That would leave plenty of gas for those that truly need it in the short term. By the time that price became overly burdensome, the crisis would be over. -

All the stations I drove past in La Vergne are out, but a few smaller places in Smyrna still have gas. The azzhat at the Marathon across from Kmart jacked his price up to $2.999. -
When the police respond to an armed robbery call, I'd assume they expect to confront an armed suspect. My guess is they had no more time to analyze how young and cute the suspect was than they did to analyze whether the gun fired BBs or bullets. I bet the media and soon to be protesters believe the officers should have waited to see if getting shot killed them before they decided to use deadly force.

I don't disagree about the idea that stickers make you a target, but I happen to like stickers, I have insurance, and if I conduct my life in fear, evil wins.

I want a CZ , tell me why I should not get a Tactical Sport....
BigK replied to Fourtyfive's topic in Handguns
Both pics you posted are of the Tactical Sport models, which means they come from the factory setup for SAO (like a 1911). I've shot one, they are really fun to shoot...almost to the point where it feels like cheating. I'm not the best shot in the world, yet I was able to stack shots on top of one another with almost no effort. It really is an awesome range toy. -
Today was going to be a great day. I went to bed early, got a solid 7+ hours of sleep, was out the door 15 minutes early for work, and was already looking forward to getting to work early enough to hit the omelet bar in the cafeteria before I started work. That all got ruined by a red light. I was alone in the left turn lane and the sensors under the road just wouldn't give my motorcycle a left turn arrow. I even tried shifting to neutral and lowering the kickstand (I heard that works sometimes). I'm sure somebody would have eventually pulled in behind me and maybe would have tripped the sensor for me. I have had to pull completely across the crosswalk to let a car behind me trip the sensor before, leaving me way out in the intersection, which makes my butt twitch. So I figured best bet was to wait for a clear spot and turn anyway. The officer that pulled me over a block down the road didn't agree. He asks why I think I got pulled over, so used that opportunity to respectfully and politely explain the phenomenon about motorcycles not being able to trip the traffic sensors (in case he didn't know that was "a thing"). He says I still should have waited; I respectfully and politely agreed; and he walked off to his patrol car with my license/registration/proof of insurance. I don't know if it was my respectful and polite demeanor, the fact that I have a clean driving record going all the way back to 1986, or the "BOOBIES MAKE ME SMILE" license plate frame on my bike that won him over. Furthermore, I don't care. I'm just happy he was cool and let me off with a warning. Nonetheless, I was starving by the time lunch finally rolled around, but at least I didn't get a ticket.

Sight solution for Long and short range
BigK replied to ReeferMac's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Yep, sure does. You'll have your head slightly more erect when using the red dot of course, but it seems like a popular configuration based lb all the pics I saw on Google images. -
Sight solution for Long and short range
BigK replied to ReeferMac's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
It doesn't look like you have a front sight mount, so maybe the BUIS aren't an option. If I were building one with your optics budget I'd buy a scope, a mount ,and a red dot. You can get fairly decent options for all 3 on your budget. You'e in luck on the mount, because this wekend you can score a hard to beat Burris PEPR mount on Primary Arms for $60. I'd jump on that before they sell out, because it'll be good for any scope you choose that has a one-inch tube. Plus, the red dot can mount directly on the scope mount. The rest of my money would go on a totally decent Bushnell AR Optics scope for under $123 and a Truglo Tru-Brite. Neither are the best, but both are darn good for the money. Plus, they'll get you by until you can get something better, that is IF you don't wind up liking both like I did. -
see all the gear the motorcyclists are wearing? well, the bicyclist is going faster and he's wearing yoga pants and a thin shirt. dress for the slide, not for the ride...just sayin'

Sight solution for Long and short range
BigK replied to ReeferMac's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
+1 for the angled iron sights I set my go-to AR up with a variable powered scope (Bushnell 4.5-18 X 40) zeroed for 100 yards and a set of cheap-o 45 degree offset BUIS zeroed at 25 yards. I love the versatility of this setup. I can hit anything I'm a good enough shot to hit at almost any range with this combo. If I were a better shooter, I'd want 3 rifles, but with my limited skillset, this works for me. I call it mulitple minute of close-enough.
