My company's policy says "no firearms on company property". My office is in a building where we lease half of a floor and we park in a partially undergroung parking garage. There are 8 or more companies sharing the common areas and the parking garage (i.e. no parking level is exclusively for a single tenant). Do you think they "CAN" search my car? What reason would they have to come up with to search an employee's car or they even need a reason?

I pinched my finger between the upper and lower receiver of my rifle last weekend and dropped the slide to one of my pistols on my toe while refinishing it. Both of which hurt like the dickens. Luckily, I reported neither...it's good not to be part of this statistic.

I don't know what the frame of our new Beretta is made of, so this may not apply. I asked CZ-USA about replacing my plastic guide rod with a stainless one and they were quick to warn me not to. Their claim is that the head of the guide rod that keeps the rear end of the spring against the barrel lug also touches the frame. Since they lightened the P-01 by using an aluminum alloy instead of steel on the frame, the steel guide rod would gouge the frame and do damage. Luckily, some nice folks on the CZ forum I also read showed some pics. Several folks (I suspect light shooters) had no damage, but I saw some pics of the gouges on some higher-round count weapons. That lead me to believe this would be even more damaging if the frame was plastic, but you decide for yourself or ask the mfg. or a gunsmith. Maybe this is only specific to CZ's.

After much urging from my almost 17 yrs old son, who is going off to the Marines next summer, I decided to get a new rifle for plinking. He wanted something tacticool and fun to shoot. I wanted to hold out until I could afford an AR-15, but the S&W M&P 15-22 seemed like a smart alternative. All-in-all I think it's a great compromise. It's being marketed as an inexpensive training rifle, so maybe it will give him more confidence when he gets his hands on the real thing. I got a fairly good deal on the rifle, a carry bag, and a couple of extra mags at the gun show last weekend and went straight to the range after a quick cleaning. We ran about 250 rounds of Walmart brick ammo through it without a single FTF or FTE. I've got a cheapo red dot, riser mount, and vertical grip on the way, so I'll post more pics later. I don't have anything worthwhile to say about the product, but hearing your rationale for trying it makes me feel like a lucky man. My wife thinks the smell of gun oil and GSR is sexy!

You, sir, are a lucky man! My first HD gun was a Hi-Point C9 ($150 NIB). It isn't nearly as bad as folks say it is, but that's all I could afford at the time and was better than nothing. When you get out to look at guns, ask to hold a CZ P-01 and I bet you'll like the ergonomics. If you like the Glocks, CZ also makes a P-07 Duty that is polymer that has the same feel as the P-01, but it sells for about $425. Personally, I prefer steel or alloy, but to each his own. If you find yourself heading toward La Vergne/Mt. Juliet some weekend before you buy, send me a PM the day before. I'd gladly let you test drive my CZ P-01. I think it's that good.

Almost all has been said about the 2 holsters, but if the interchangeable Kydex or the slightly better fit/finish doesn't swing you toward the MTAC and the lifetime warranty and thinner profile that allows it to contour to your body better doesn't swing you to the Crossbreed, consider this. Mark Craighead guarantees if you don't like his Crossbreed after carrying it for 2 weeks he'll buy it back. I emailed them to ask a question before ordering and he emailed me back himself. I thought that was kinda cool. Before mine was mailed out, I ran across a great deal on a new gun and emailed to see if it was too late to change my order. He said it was scheduled for shipping, but still pulled my order and changed it for me, which I also thought was pretty cool.

Thanks, I found some good info. There's a section devoted to 15-22's at Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22. I'm leaning toward starting with a mediocre scope and a cheap laser and I'll just remove the sights until I find a setup that I can co-witness.

My CZ 82 and CZ P-01 will fire fine with a weak grip. I was surprised to watch my daughter limp-wrist my Ruger Mark II without problems too. My Kel-Tec P-32, Bersa Thunder .380, and Hi-Point C9 will all jam if you don't have a reasonably firm hold.

I gave a shotgun to my little brother when he was old enough to hunt (10yr age difference). I traded a few over the years and even had one stolen once, but this is the 1st one I've ever sold. I am pleased with how smoothly it went.

My bad guys. I knew the specs said 40 oz, I just did the math wrong. No wonder it seemed so heavy for carrying. I was thinking 2.5# empty plus ammo, but somehow got 3.5# in my head by mistake. Thanks for catching my math blunder.

I like the looks of a nice OWB, but the IWB works best for me. I haven't read any complaints about the leather/Kydex hybrids, so that's why I tried it. It works good with my leather "gun" belt, but even better with my reinforced instructor belt.

Great advice, thanks. Next time I have one to sell, I think that will be the way I go. I lucked up and sold it privately before the show. Naturally, they were selling for more there. I asked a few what they'd give for one and the price was about the same as the LGS offered. So, me and the actual buyer made out OK.

Hey Chip, are you using the sights that came on it? I want to add either a cheap scope or red dot until I can afford something better. The problem is I want to keep the option of using the standard sights too. I tried a red dot scope, but with the riser the bottom edge was in the way of the sights and without the riser, the top edge was in the way. Any suggestions?

...it was a brand new S&W M&P 15-22, 2 extra mags, and a soft-sided UTG bag to carry it in. Needless to say I cleaned and lubed it and took it straight out to the range for a test run. It ran flawlessly through about 200 rounds of ammo. The sights take some getting used to, since I've never run peeps before. I've been saving a while to get one, but was a bit short and the show was coming up. So, I sold a pistol I can't afford to shoot much (.380) to make the difference. I'm glad i did, b/c this thing is a blast to shoot. Now I just gotta get out the dog house with my wife.

I can't say enough good things about the Crossbreed Super Tuck. I tried several other IWB and OWB rigs and none worked for me. The leather extends farther past the hammer/beavertail to prevent gouging. The Comp-Tac Minotaur is good too, b/c the Kydex can be interchanged to fit a different gun. Also, take a look at the Kholster, if you like hybrids.

I've been casually looking for one myself. I haven't had much luck, but I'll try the gun show this weekend. In case I don't have any luck...Anyone know where I can get one reasonable?
