  1. That's awesome news, thanks again for the input.
  2. Thanks for the input, I think I was told they still shoot there. I shoot at the TWRA range on Hobson Pk., so I'm used to lots of rules/regulations, but why trade the devil ya know for one you don't. At the NG range can you do moving drills at all (shooter moving, not targets) or is it just a static firing line? I really want to practice shooting on the move, but cannot find ANYWHERE that is set up that way.
  3. I do not suggest that a gun shop offer someone $100 in trade for an item they can only sell for $100, forgoing a reasonable profit. I only suggest that if they know an item is worth $320 and the customer truly has no idea of the value, offering $80 is not an honest practice unless a 300% markup is your standard margin. That's what the goose that laid the golden egg parable was about. You get a little profit as time elapses on multiple occassions. Letting greed overwhelm you by cuttion open the goose to get all your profit at once is an epic failure.
  4. I would like to thank the people on this thread that see the described story as being unjust. There is some hope for morality in this country. Some people misunderstand the economic theory here. The price the market will bear and the price the seller is willing to accept meet at a general point that is only slightly flexible. One unfortunate guy trying to trade his guns for a new one does NOT represent the average consumer and this dispicable salesman does NOT represent the average supplier. All of us wouldn't know he got cheated if we didn't know what the market would bear. Likewise the salesman did and used his superior knowledge to take advantage of someone. He was being trusted as an expert with greater knowledge than the customer and he could have been fair, but he chose not to. Now, we can only hope RB learns a little lesson in economics. If this story spreads and enough people are angry, they lose sales. This is what Milton Friedman said would happen in a purely capitalistic system. Dishonest suppliers will take advantage of some, but will be exposed for their shady dealings and cease to be able to do business with honest consuers.
  5. My wife bought me the wrong pistol for Christmas (right brand, similar size, but wrong model). I've heard that once a firearm is sold, it can never be re-sold as new. Yet the my local gun shop, where she got it gave me full retail price toward the one I wanted. Mind you, this was the 3rd gun I'd bought from them, but still...they did me right! In fact they did me so right that I actually felt bad when they didn't have the next gun I wanted and I had to buy it elsewhere. When someone treats me fairly, I remeber them in my comments to others and with my wallet. I have boutght another gun from them since this happened and will continue to give them as much business as I can afford to. I'd recommend Specialty Arms in La Vergne to anyone.
  6. Huh, I would have thought somebody on here would be a member or know someone who is. Oh well, it didn't hurt to ask.
  7. Yep, forgot about them. H&K may have made a polymer handgun first over 10 yrs before them, but there no doubt who got the whole plastic gun industry going.
  8. I bet HE THINKS you scared him as much as he scared you. Of course that's not possible, huh? Last night must have been the night for being woke up with a pucker factor involved. About 2:45 my dogs start growling down from the top of the stairs. I sounded kind of low and ominous as American Bulldogs usually do. I grabbed my gun and mag lite and head down the hall to face the intruder in my boxer briefs. The dogs went on down and were barking before I could get to the top of the stairs to go down. Never saw anything worth barking/growling at, but they did apparently. I guess they scared away whatever/whoever it was before I got a chance, which is best for all involved.
  9. I love when a product like Apple's iPod and iPhone, Phillips' dvd player, and Amana's RadarRange creates a whole new industry or changes the direction of one all together. Everyone scrambles to make something similar and WE the consumer are the winners. With this much competition...prices are competitive, quality is high, and amazing functionality is offered. Ain't life grand? Congrats on the new toy, hope you like it.
  10. The Ruger looks better and feels tighter. It's a tiny bit taller and wider and an ounce heavier, but you won't notice. At the price range the 20-30% price difference isn't much either. Neither has a last round hold open. Head-to-head the 3AT is a better shooter at 15 feet in my experience and from most side-by-side reviews I read. The LCP had less perceived recoil, though. The biggest thing for me is that the 3AT has a lifetime warranty and the LCP has NO warranty whatsoever other than the implied warranty under the consumer protection laws of the state. B/w the slight price difference, the logevity of the 3AT over the LCP, the warranty vs lack thereof, and the accuracy, I'd go with the Kel-Tec. I'm sure some would disagree.
  11. I had to change my grip all together for my Kel-Tec P-32. My full-size guns get a modified isoceles stance and a high grip w/ my thumbs aligned and pointing forward like Todd Jarrett holds a 1911. My mousegun gets a firm one-handed grip with support hand underneath and my fingers wrapping around my shooting hand from underneath. I still get 10-12" groups at 10 yds. An NRA certified instructor at the range taught me the full-size grip I mentioned above and she demonstrated, putting 3 shots into a ragged hole in the bullseye at 7 yds with my CZ P-01. Needless to say she's an unbelievably good shot. She also taught me the mousegun grip too and told me that I'm wasting my time shooting "that little thing" at targets past 5 yds. She says that's not what they are designed for. She says a gun that light with a barrel that short is real hard to be accurate beyond 10 or 20 feet. Do with that info what you will, but I mostly agree. I've put several hundred rounds through my P-32, since she helped me with my grip. I saw an initial improvement, but I'm still not getting 6" groups at 5 yds. I think it's more the gun than me, b/c I can get all 9's and 10's with 4 14rd mags at the same distance with my P-01.
  12. The Boondock Saints!!!!
  13. Too funny, I like that!
  14. Wife went to the gym and daughter's at a sleep over, so my son and I ordered pizza. First time I've had Domino's Pizza in 20 years. I've been missing out.
  15. I was talking about shooting ranges and such with Dan down at Specialty Arms in La Vergne. He mentioned PRIEST LAKE PISTOL AND GUN CLUB in SMYRNA, TN. From the little I had time to learn, there's monthly meetings and/or range time and/or breakfast once a month. I didn't want to bother him much at work about it, so I thought I'd ask you folks to see if I could learn more. I'm really hoping someone on here is a current or former member and wouldn't mind sharing some information. I'm mostly interested to know what constitutes meetings or events, but to be honest, any information would be welcome.
  16. Food, my favorite topic... BBQ: Famous Dave's (beans and brisket are the best I've had) Steak: Hickory Falls (an independent in Smyrna, TN) Wings: Slick Pig in Murfreesboro (slow smoked dry wings - add your own sauce) Mexican: Taco Bell, just kidding, La Siesta (love me some Plato la Siesta, a sampler platter that few can finish in one sitting for $10) Pizza: eh, they all kinda suck around here, I make my own Sushi: Sakura in Murfreesboro or Tokyo in Smyrna (both are darn good)
  17. Yes, thanks for the opportunity!!
  18. This has to be the all-time worst job ever. I won't even get into how insanely unsafe that backstop is for target shooting.
  19. Last weekend Walmart in Antioch had 100 count boxes of WWB .380 in stock for $31, but they were flat nosed. My Bersa will eat anything, so I got 2 boxes. As a measuring stick...the same store had 100 ct box of WWB 9 mm (not flat nosed) for $25. I didn't think I'd ever see 6 cent diference per round b/w .380 and 9mm again.
  20. For the love of all that is Holy, no! Not a Taurus pocket pistol! Just kidding, yours may be fine, but I had the TCP and it was a nightmare. I hope you have better luck.
  21. I like going in Outpost even if I'm just looking around, which my wife calls "pre-shopping", since she knows I'll find something I have to have w/in 4 months or so. They also have a huge holster selection and it's easy to "try one on" there.
  22. .22 LR .32 ACP .380 ACP 9mm X 18 mm Makarov (my favorite) 9 mm
  23. At the range I like to load my 14 round mags with 12, 13, or 14, instead of always 14. That way I get to the end of a mag I unexpectedly, since I can't help counting shots. I give myself a big pat on the back when I hold steady on that last squeeze and I flog myself mercilessly if I dive or flinch and it don't go boom.
  24. I believe most candidates are in the a$5-kissing phase of their campaign now. It's good to be the ones whose a$5 is being kissed instead of kicked for a change.

    CZ Question

I know a lot of folks like that. I show them how and they do it their own way...then they have the gall to whine when they can't get 3 in a row on paper at 10 yds.
