Perfect music in both cases!! I'll never sleep again until I get that pic of hairy Rosey out of my head.

Sorry, I haven't checked this thread in a while. I'm sure you already found some ammo that works well by now. It would be nice to compare notes, though. I mostly shot cheap Federal brick ammo w/ no issues, but get best groups so far w/ CCI Mini-Mags. How 'bout you?? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm heading that way Saturday, l'll stop in and see 'em, since I didn't get to place my order today. Thanks for the heads-up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Between sharia law and the fact that the birth rate among muslims is considerably higher than average, I can see why some don't want them around. They will outnumber their non-muslim neighbors in a generation or 2, becoming the dominant voting base. Despite that, I don't see how you can legally tell them they can't build something, if they aren't doing anything illegal. Yet still, at the same time, we can't ignore what's happened in Europe when large groups of muslims settled in places.

My thoughts exactly! I'm no tree huggin', greeny weenie, hippy dippy, animal rights whacko, but my daddy raised me better than this. It's Ok to kill an animal for food, but the only thing worse than torturing an animal to death in the name of sport is buying a ticket to watch it happen.

STOLEN GUN ALERT: Springfield Champion SS with Bobtail
BigK replied to BimmerFreak's topic in General Chat
Darn, I saw this thread come back up and was hoping you caught the a$$hole that stole it. Much luck recovering it. -
I used to rent 17's and 19's over at OnTarget in Murfreesboro in hopes I could get to like them. I mean, let's face it, whether you are a fan or not, they are good guns. Unfortunately for me, I could never put more than 1 box of ammo through them without my strong hand being sore for a couple of days. Those huge wide a$$ trigger guards always cut into my middle finger and my fingers are just too short to get a firm grip. Considering everyone and their dog makes gear for these damn things, they run very well, and they aren't overly expensive...what's not to like....if they fit your hands, that is.

Not sure how typical my experience is, but mine eats everything so far. The manual lists a dozen or so lines of ammo that are known to be good for feeding. It also warns to avoid subsonic rounds. I'd love to run into a 522 owner at the range, so we can trade off for a few mags. My 13 yr old daughter wants one and I'd prefer to try something new over buying a duplicate, ya know? I tried offering her a Cricket rifle now, since they are cheap, but she just rolled her eyes and said, "PLEASE, that's no fun." Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm ordering the S&W Model 67 on Friday. I chose it mostly b/c of the adjustable sights and stainless finish. That leaves me 2 days to find a place that charges less than $50 + $10 for the transfer. My LGS is HIGH, huh? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks you guys, I just used my Comcast app to delete all my DVR recordings for Jerry Springer AND Dr. Phil. Now I have enough space for all those gun shows on the Outdoor Channel. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I had a hard time deciding b/w the Sig 522 and the S&W M&P 15-22, but I went the other way. My short-sighted reason at first was the lack of optics on the 522, but I went right out and bought a scope anyway. After nearly 1500 rounds, I'm glad I went with the S&W. It shoots and handles well and I love the quad rail.

Jamie, that is the most sage, honest, and useful advice anyone could offer at this point...very well put.

You guys make extremely valid points and I see a lot of wisdom in your DAO advice. I guess I mostly just wanted the option to shoot SA at the range, if I chose to do so. I'd NEVER use it in a self-defense situation, so thanks for that advice. I won't let that discourage me. Is there anything you guys can tell me about the 3 models I mentioned (15, 64, & 67) that should sway my decision? Is one better than the others? They are here (Revolver) if you'd like to see and make an informed recommendation. I appreciate any advice you can offer.

Unlike a certain former Dominos delivery driver, who shall remain namelesss, mere words will not raise my temper. My shooting skills have been besmirched too often for me to fall into that trap!! HA

I wonder if anyone has ever done a scientific study to find if the kind of people who are offended by kind words are the same kind of people who shoot up their workplace?

What I find odd is that David didn't even call him that...he only used the "C" word as an adjective.
-
I love the way this slipped into the conversation unnoticed. It was like and anti-commie subliminal message. Even strel didn't reply! You forgot something, though. When Dominos gets a union all pizzas will be pepperoni only and the pigs it comes from must be raised on a farm that pays its workers a living wage and the farmer must sing lullabies in 2 languages when the pigs go to sleep.

I don't know a lot about revolvers. I've shot a few and enjoyed myself, but mostly prefer pistols. I have been considering a .357 recently, but might settle for a .38. I ran across some great deals on police issued S&W models (15, 64, and 67). The price ($230-270) seems about right and fits my budget, but they've all been modified to be DAO. The site says it's to "comply with law enforcement requirements." I've also ran across some other revolvers (mostly S&W) that caught my eye, but they say DAO also. Are SA/DA revolvers less common? Can the DAO mods on the police trade-ins be reversed cheaply?

I just wish there were a place anywhere near us where we could shoot steel targets of any kind. Maybe when I win the lottery, I'll buy a nice piece of land, put up a bunch of steel targets and invite you all.

The dueling trees was the most exciting thing I've seen on TV in a long time. I wish I had a place to try that.

I watched it several times and then watched several other similar videos. Wow, these lil things are impressive! That pilot is remarkable too. I can't imagine how many hours of practice that took. FWIW...these lil buggers sell for $1200 - $1500, plus whatever mods he did to it.
-
With the incredible advances in ammo mfg., I think our ability to hit a target makes more difference than caliber nowadays.

My LGS was at the last RK show I went to in Murfreesboro. I had been eyeing a new S&W M&P 15-22. They were marked down by about 10% to sell at the show. Same on several handguns too. Maybe that just means their everyday price is too high, I'm not sure. I do know that NOBODY else at the show was selling 15-22's cheaper, b/c I looked at EVERY table b/f I bought one.

This will sound like we are paranoid at my house, but we aren't: I have the ADT security signs, the system is hooked up to VOIP (internet phone) instead of land line, 2 big scary sounding dogs, 2-way deadbolts on all doors with glass near by, enough guns to start a small war, plenty of ammo, and everyone in my house is a decent shot. Wow, it does sound paranoid when I list it all out like that. The alarm was free for one year when we bought the house, so I'll let the monitoring lapse when the contract is due to renew. The rest is just good old fasioned common sense to me.

That's cheaper than my LGS (Specialty Arms in La Vergne) charges. They want $50, which I refuse to pay. At those prices plus shipping, I seldom see any savings over buying directly from the LGS. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
