They will surely film something or at least take pictures for promo purposes. Too bad I don't have a TGO hat or t-shirt to sport, hint hint

I don't know what he was gonna post, but the title got my attention. That's all I was commenting on. That title would attract a lot of unwanted attention is all.

A week ago I got a confirmation email from The Sportsman Channel that I am a Grand Prize Finalist. I was skeptical, but I distinctly remembered entering the "Be A Handguns HotShot" contest (The Sportsman Channel | Enter to Win to be a Handguns Hotshot!). I looked up their site, verified that the email was actually coming from their Director of Communications. I had to give them my middle name and DOB for a background check. Apparently they don't wanna trust just any idiot to shoot with. I've been pretty excited all week, but tried not to get worked up, in case there was a catch or something. Well, today I got word that I was officially 1 of the 6 winners. I got an all expenses paid trip to a training class put on by Aaron Roberts, host of The Sporting Channel's show, "Handguns." If you click the link above, it tells the other goodies that are included too. It's pretty cool to me, b/c my son & I watch the show every week. Plus, I never win anything. I have always wanted to take a training class and now I get to do it for free!

I get that, but I seldom get a chance to try a new weapon. Who knows, I may like 1911's and go out and get one.

Wow! Nice setup already, can't wait to see the final product. What a steal too, btw.
-
Well, it turns out I can have my cake and eat it too. I was told to go ahead and bring mine just in case and they'll have enough ammo for both!

GUNS and politics and shooting and guns and pro football and cooking and guns and fast cars and hot chicks and guns.

Nice title anyway! Sadly, I doubt it will do as much to prevent an argument as you think, though.

I got a Taurus TCP 738 as a gift. Worst gun I ever had. I won't bash Taurus, since that was against the OP's rules. But I will say that for a gun that cost 2x the price of my Hi-Point C9, I expected at least as good or better performance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I was leaning towards what you guys said. If I don't commit to bring my own and wind up not using theirs, I might have to buy 3 days worth of ammo. I haven't found out yet how many rounds that is, but my best conservative guess is 1,000. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I've got an opportunity to use a sponsor's provided handguns or bring my own. Theirs: All ammunition is supplied by Winchester and guests will be able to practice with different caliber Puma and Citadel handguns supplied by Legacy Sports International. Mine: CZ P-01 (same as 75 D Compact) and they'll still provide ammo as stated above. My thoughts are... I don't own any 1911 style pistols, but shot a few rounds once from a RIA basic model (whatever their 5" with fixed sights is). I liked shooting it and did well with it. I like trying out new guns, since I'd consider myself VERY comfortable with mine. Those brands aren't exactly the best 1911 style guns made, so I may not enjoy the experience as much as I think. Whichever I choose, I'm stuck with my choice for 3 days. Would you bring your own gun, which you know to be reliable and VERY accurate? Would you opt to try theirs for the new experience? Would you say "I'll use yours" and bring your own and your own ammo, just in case?

I only own one gun that I'd call pretty and it's my Hi-Point C9. Ok, I couldn't even keep a str8 face while typing that. Ok, sure, it's big and its ugly and its heavy and my friends make fun of it when they see me with it, but so was my my ex-wife and I actually married her. In the Hi-Point's defense, at least it does its job pretty well. In fact, I've owned it longer than I was married to my ex and I'm still not sick of shooting the pistol.

I think we fundamentally agree that allowing this mosque to be built is a bad idea. I am against it mainly b/c I don't trust the group's intentions or ability to self-police itself of radicals. My only issue is the feeling of helplessness to legally stop the project. The Cordoba Group bought the land from Burlington Coat Factory last year and are already holding Friday prayers there. Their only remaining legal hurdle is whether the land use commission declares that building an historical site. It was built in 1858 and has some elements of Italian Rennaissance architecture, but the panel that makes the recommendation is roughly 2-1 against holding up the Cordoba project. Even most NYers polled seem to have concerns. According to Sienna Polls, over 70% of those polled in the state are against the mosque, but over 60% also feel the group has the constitutional right to build it.

I had to get mine in places that can be hidden by short sleeves, but they are there. If you're lucky enough to get away with not hiding it, I say rock it with pride!

I bet you are glad that you don't appendix carry.

Me too. I know 9mm gets a lot of ribbing by the "nothing that doesn't start with a 4" crowd, but I like them a lot. I may sneak a S&W .38 or .357 into my collection before I get the 2 9mms I want though. I got my eye on a police trade in Model 67 for around $250, but I'd rather hold out for the .357.
-
I thought I was the only one that wanted 4 9mm's. I have a P-01 and as much as I hate to admit it, a Hi-Point. I want a M&P 9 and a 75B.

On "Impossible Shots" on the Outdoor Channel, I saw him shoot a safety pin open with a .45. He literally had to just graze the pin in order to make it open without damagin it. BTW...this is the same man that threw an ASPIRIN into the air and shoot it. He also threw a playing card into the air and shot it in half on its edge. The man is truly Superhuman!

+1 probably your best bet and welcome btw

I've almost gotten one of these twice now, but something got in my way both times. I've heard lots of good things and fondled a few from time to time.
-
Perfect music in both cases!! I'll never sleep again until I get that pic of hairy Rosey out of my head.

Sorry, I haven't checked this thread in a while. I'm sure you already found some ammo that works well by now. It would be nice to compare notes, though. I mostly shot cheap Federal brick ammo w/ no issues, but get best groups so far w/ CCI Mini-Mags. How 'bout you?? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm heading that way Saturday, l'll stop in and see 'em, since I didn't get to place my order today. Thanks for the heads-up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Between sharia law and the fact that the birth rate among muslims is considerably higher than average, I can see why some don't want them around. They will outnumber their non-muslim neighbors in a generation or 2, becoming the dominant voting base. Despite that, I don't see how you can legally tell them they can't build something, if they aren't doing anything illegal. Yet still, at the same time, we can't ignore what's happened in Europe when large groups of muslims settled in places.
