Thank you, Tom, for saying so eloquently what most of us have been thinking. Taking nothing away from your well-spoken, expertly-framed remarks, I have to take my hat off to Chris Peck and his editor for being REAL, objective journalists long enough to let a dissenting opinion reach their readers.

Near Miss for a Tennessee Handgun Instructor
BigK replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Uh oh! I've shot somewhere b/w 700 & 1000 rounds of cheap commie crap (Wolf, Bear, Tula) in my CZ P-01 (steel & aluminum) all the time. I also shoot cheap reloads in my Ruger SP101 (built like a freakin' tank) all the time too. I WILL NOT shoot this same stuff in my Glock (plastic), though. However, I did read at the link below that there is not a single confirmed kb report from any of the 9mm Glock models. Glock kB! FAQ v1.35 -
I was comparing the LC9 to the Kel-Tecs (PF-9 and P-11): The P-11 has the best capacity (+3 rounds), but is the tallest (+.35"). The PF-9 is the smallest (-0.4" L, -0.2" H, and -0.12" W) and lightest (-4.4 oz). The Ruger is the heaviest and longest and is the only one that WILL NOT handle any +P ammo. We know you can get either K-T for around $250, but I'd guess the Ruger is gonna stay around $400 for a while. Anyone seen a "real world" price yet?

I told my wife about this site, she said "hey, Valentine's Day IS coming up!"

+1 That basically sums up their mission statement, which is why I bought one to start with. Being at least as dependable and more durable than many guns I've had that cost hundreds more is the reason I kept it.

Lady who fell in fountain while texting ponders lawsuit.
BigK replied to Punisher84's topic in General Chat
This is the best argument we could offer for tort reform. Most of the civilized world has laws that allow this kind of idiot to sue as well, but if she loses, she has to pay for the legal fees of the other party. That alone would get rid of a lot of these frivolous lawsuits that cost innocent parties thousands of dollars to defend themselves. It's no wonder so many defendants offer settlements. It's cheaper than the court battle. -
Man goes berserk after excessive-flatulence teasing

You're right that was a crappy thing to say...I couldn't help myself. -
I'm wearing my SP101 as we speak, but I'd still go with a GP 100. Love my snubbie (that's what she said), but 10 or so rounds of full power .357's and I'm hurtin'.

How much you wanna bet that if the results hit 54/46 or lower, they'll pull it off their site. They can't handle the truth, that's why they invent their own version of it.

Well that stinks! -
My Hi-Point C9 is big, ugly, and heavy. It's hard to get a good grip on it when racking the slide. It only holds 8 rounds and has a terrible trigger pull. On the other hand, it goes bang every time I pull the trigger. It's more accurate than is should be for the price. It's made in America and the warranty is great. Unfortunately, I still wouldn't recommend it for anything other than plinking, b/c it won't go all the into battery after mag changes without a push.

I think it looks decent and Ruger makes a fine firearm. If it runs as good as a LCP or Kel-Tec, they'll have a winner and make another mint. I got burnt pretty bad on a Taurus, so I'm not a big fan of their semis. I'm sure their revolvers are just fine.

Maybe I'm just lucky or tngw1500se was unlucky, but I trust my Kel-Tec. The P-11 has been in production for 16 years and a lot of folks over on KTOG are nuts about theirs. Here's some decent info about them (real quick read): Kel-Tec P-11, The Almost Ideal Pocket Gun I'm holding out for this bad boy, here: Ruger® LC9™ Centerfire Pistol Models

That totally could have been a reporter from the Tennessean,

I got a newsletter from GunsAmerica about the upcoming Shot Show. One of the featured pistols that they briefly mention is Ruger's new LC9. With their LCR and LCP momentum, I'm betting it's gonna be a huge hit. If you believe the short write-up below, it would be worth checking out, unless you don't like pocket guns SHOT Show Sneak Peek – Media Day at the Range It's also on Ruger's splash screen for their home page: Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc.

When my kids were young enough to think a gun of any color might be a toy, I made sure they couldn't get their hands on it. As soon as they were old enough, they each got "schooled" on firearm safety and they STILL couldn't get their hands on them. Now that they are teens and have made dozens of trips with me to the range and several serious talks about how kids get shot with "unloaded guns" while showing off to their friends, I feel a little more comfortable, but they still can't get their hands on them. Mine aren't just "hidden" where they "can't find them", they are locked up, so they physically cannot get to them without some serious tools that they don't know how to use, LOL. I'm not trying to be argumentative about the idea that kids might think they're toys. I just couldn't live with myself knowing I left them a way to get their hands on them when I wasn't around and someone got hurt.
-
I'm with the folks that may not like them for myself, but like the idea that they exist. I'm for almost anything that gets women interested in shooting, it's good for the industry and the pro 2A movement. As far as them looking like toys...if a bad guy laughs or doesn't take her serious and keeps on coming when my wife pulls a pink gun out of her pink holster in her pink purse...he's getting shot! My only hope is that he survives, so he can tell everyone else in prison that he got shot by a girl with a pink gun, LOL.

Surprise at work this morning. Carrying guns here is now legal.

Good for you for being tenacious and fighting the good fight! -
Good for you! They really need as much support as we can give them right now in the wake of all that Tuscon crap. I'm good til 2014, but I may go ahead and extend mine too.

Was President Obama using code words for gun control legislation?
BigK replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I've been listening around the office to people talk about this all week. I've heard a lot of folks I know to be hard-core conservatives say stuff like "Why does anyone need a gun that holds that many bullets?" and "Nobody should be allowed to have a gun capable of holding that many bullets". I don't even need to tell you the kind of stupid crap I've heard the lefties say. These people are ignorant on so many levels it scares me. What frustrates me the most is that there's no way for our side to reach enough people to correct the ignorance to start with. I asked a few how come when a drunk driver kills someone in a car crash they don't call for the immediate ban on alcohol sales or automobile sales, but as soon as a lunatic shoots somebody, they blame the weapon he used? I guess I'm just sick of the way too many people demonize firearms. -
there was a something folded?

Hey, I appreciate the feedback about shooting left. You're actually 2nd person that has mentioned that I may just need to get used to the new trigger, I'll bench it next time out to see if that helps. I had no idea there were 2 versions of the G34. I thought they all came with 3 mags, so I asked and the seller said it only had 2 mags when he bought it new. My 3rd mag is a Korean knock-off the guy threw in for free. I don't have a trigger scale, but I fashioned one using a shoelace, some duct tape, a pencil, and a jug of water. The weight of these items and the water it took to pull the trigger was just at 73 oz. Close enough to a 4.5# trigger for my estimation. The SA pulll on my EDC is 1-2 oz short of 5#, so they are pretty close.

La Vergne, here. BTW...the map is kinda cool.

REAL late to the party, but I'm on there now, too.

I'll definitely shoot you an email in the next couple of days to see some of the pics you mentioned. I almost took the Dremel and a woodburning bit to that trigger guard last night, but I am a little apprehensive about altering the frame just yet. I guess I'm still gun shy about making alterations that would make it hard to trade/sell it. I guess I'll just get over that and do what I want to it to make it fit me.
