If all salads were that good, I'd go vegetarian in a heartbeat.

Man with gun walking around midtown Memphis
BigK replied to deerslayer's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I am asking this with genuine curiosity, not stirring the pot. What good is it for it to be legal to carry an AR pistol if even us pro-2A folks don't want people to carry them? I'm accusing myself of this same thinking. I'd NEVER carry an AR pistol around for all the same reasons above. BUT, I'm also ashamed of myself for not doing so if the reason is that I might scare the lib-tards. -
I have no clue whatsoever why the general public didn't like them. @NoBanStan and I talked to the reps a couple of times at the NRA Convention about the P-10 series. He admitted it wasn't as big of a seller as they expected. For me my biggest issue with the P-10 is the quality of the polymer they used. If you compare CZ plastic to the plastic used by S&W, Sig, Springfield, Ruger, etc it's shiny and slippery. The other mfg have a dull/matte look to them and are far less slick. To a lesser degree the trigger felt a little spongy, kind of like the early Glocks that felt like plastic was bending before the trigger broke.

Spot on about everyone loving their nearly 50 year old pistol design. It's working for 1911s, why not CZ-75 variants. I think that's what's keeping their pistol business alive. Sadly, a lot of new shooters only want polymer striker fired handguns and CZ's attempt at that flopped really bad.

It looks like 9mm and 556 is not worth the money to load
BigK replied to 2agood's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I'm also sitting on some old components. The last one-pound bottle of powder I used up had $16.95 on the sticker. I didn't get as good a deal on bullets as you did though. -
I think you're onto something about that pattern. I'm sure there'll be another crisis the anti-gun crowd can get behind. Once their stooges in DC start lobbing threats to ban this or ban that, sales will pick back up. I hope the next mass shooter uses a Hi-Point carbine and a crappy old Chinese Mosin (type 53). I'd love to unload those at a good price to free up some gun safe space.

My biggest gripes about rebates are the hoops you have to jump through often discourage follow-through and the rebate arrives so late that it's no longer tied to the purchase to feel like I got a discount.

The quick answer is around the 3:32 mark where Mr. Kirk explains the ruling violates the Administrative Procedures Act. I don't see how the ATF can come back from this. The court ruled that the ATF doesn't have authority to make this rule according the APA. I think they're dead in the water without Congress passing a new law.

I’m interested in getting an old rifle
BigK replied to 2agood's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
Back in the day a Curio & Relics license was the way to go. I never found anything rare/collectible, but I did find some decent rifles and had a blast cleaning, restoring, and shooting them. Maybe it's worth a look? -
I've read some accounts that the numbers support the possibility that they mostly cannibalized SBR applications from gun owners who were already going to apply anyway. I don't see how they came to that conclusion, but I hope it's true. So, I'm happy for anyone who wanted to SBR their pistol and got it done free. For everyone else who got extorted by the ATF against their will, I wish there was some justice. However, I'm of they opinion that they were overly gullible. Most of the 2A folks I know felt they just had to bide their time for this to fail in court.

BigK replied to 2agood's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Even with using today's prices vs what I paid for the components I bought, I could reload 9mm for 17¢/round, if I shop smart. 7.0¢ primers 8.5¢ bullets 1.5¢ powder If you factor in the bonuses that everyone else mentioned, like the enjoyment of reloading, the benefit of controlling the quality, and the ability to tailor loads to my needs, then it's a no-brainer for me. -
Every trip to the range I carry my Ruger Mark IV or my Ruger Mark II. They are undeniably my favorite guns to shoot. Funny thing...My CZ Shadow is the most satisfying to shoot and it used to go every time, but it's almost like cheating. You know, if it's too easy it isn't all that much fun.

My guess is corporate donations/advertisements exceed grassroots donations at this point. -
Eye Opening Article about the NRA... Actually Not Really
BigK replied to Moped's topic in General Chat
WLP is a crook, no doubt, but the 76 member board that elects him is who we need to focus on. In 2022 WLP got 75 out of 76 votes. If you're like me, you can't name one single member on that board. I look at the names on the NRA ballot when I vote, but I have no clue who they. My guess is that anyone we'd WANT to run the NRA isn't interested, but those who want to control all that NRA money are the kind of people who keep electing WLP. -
Wow, that's a great looking car, GLWS. I had a mint green '71 Coronet in high school. Good time, good memories, great car!

The best cheap name brand I've owned was the original S&W M&P 15 Sport. I was very impressed with the performance for the price and still have no need for a forward assist or dust cover on any of my better rifles now.

The idea of not trusting your opinions on guns to strangers has more merit than the OP realizes. Afterall, we're talking about 2A issues here that are protected by the Bill of Rights, not bond issues or legalization or mottos/symbols on a ballot initiative. If public opinion mattered as much as the law, we'd have lost our gun rights decades ago. With these questions, adding another number to the respondent count will NOT help our side when the stats are used against us.

My wife got a Vespa last year, so she could join my grandson and I on motorcycle rides. I liked her scooter so much I got me one too. I ride it most of the time now, but my grandson loves the Super Tenere better. He finally nagged me to get out on the big bike this weekend. You can tell by his big grin that he had fun.
