  1. I had time on my hands...nothing going on in my life but this thread....so I counted (another public school arithmetic success story) the bullets in that pic on Collier's site. Considering all the places a bullet could land vs the area covered by commercial roofs, recovering 40 bullets by a single roofing contractor is scary, even if they've been collecting them for 30 years (which I doubt).
  2. I may eventually give it go.
  3. Been said several times, but posts were deleted, seriously.
  4. FYI...yesterday was UN Radio day (I'm not making this up, I swear). I heard an interview on the radio with some kind of expert on the UN Small Arms Treaty. One thing he emphasized emphatically was that it only applies to the illicit sale/traffic of small arms. He's probably just a liberal nut-case trying to lull America to sleep, but that's what the man said.

    THE WEAPON?

I have it on good authority from an unnamed source in Mansfield, OH that the weapon that killed OBL was actually a Hi-Point 995TSRD.
  6. Be careful at Walmart...everyone will be staring at you ...and they'll all know you have a gun.
  7. yeah, maybe, but are they safety contacts...inquiring minds want to know
  8. Donuts?! We're not tough enough for donuts...Pop Tarts are the best we can hope for. Or for those guys in sandals on the other thread...maybe some Grape Nuts and Wheat Grass juice.
  9. I'm all for helping the local guys with my business whenever possible, but I'm too cheap in this case. MTS is a full 35% higher.
  10. Oh I see! So this is like "yard time" in one of those prison movies. You're hoping we'll blow off some steam and get it all out of our system while it's focused on the doofus. That way we'll be less likely to sling poo in other directions when you put us back in our cages. You guys are clever, but I'm on to you. You gotta get up pretty early (noonish) to pull one over on me.
  11. CZ is my favorite, I have 5 of them and to me the stock sights aren't bad. IMO your money would be MUCH better spent on a custom hammer and a trigger job. Out of the box the trigger is kind of gritty...nothing 500 rounds won't fix, though.
  12. would I have to let you take a video of me screaming and whining to shoot it too, LOL might be worth it...looks fun
  13. Here, here! I'll take a little meaningless drivel over world peace and feeding the homeless any day. Dang it...you beat me to it!
  14. Unexpanded hollow points make holes...expensive holes...but holes just the same and holes are holes and they freakin' hurt. I'm no expert on bullet-ology, but the concept behind Corbon Pow'RBall and Hornady Critical Defense makes sense to me. Unless I'm off the mark, which is very possible, they should be good for year-round carry, right? It seems like they wouldn't over-penetrate or regularly fail to expand. Someone please correct/inform me, if I've misunderstood.
  15. +1 I drank the Critical Defense Kool Aid, I guess, b/c I'm a big fan. I think Hornady is a leader in SD ammo industry. I don't leave home without it.
  16. Seems like there are lots of sites that sell hardcast DEWC bullets, but they aren't any cheaper than HBWC. Besides, everyone I've asked say HBWC are more accurate. Since I'll be reloading them for target/practice, I see no reason to pay more for hardcast bullets just in case I want to push them faster. So, I've looked around online for some 38 caliber 148 gr HBWC bullets. So far, the best price I've found is on 500 Speer HBWC at MidwayUSA for just over $45 shipped. Naturally, I save more with volume, but I only want 500 to start with. Anyone know where I can get HBWC bullets any any cheaper?
  17. ^^^ THIS Plus, the wife and kids stay away while I'm realoading. This means I get to enjoy the man cave in peace and quiet.
  18. Over the course of reloading my first 500 or so rounds, I smashed up half a dozen or more primers that somehow got sideways in my hand primer. I mean I smashed them up good too. Some were completely collapsed in on themselves. Luckily, none went boom. I didn't realize they were hard to insert due to being sideways, b/c some brass has a lip around the primer pocket that causes me to have to squeeze the hand primer firmly to get past. Each time, I deprimed them with my press to salvage the brass. I was being careful when I did it, but I didn't exactly go in slow motion, though. I try to be as careful as possible (no more smoking in the garage even when I'm not reloading, safety glasses, gloves while priming cases, etc.). Also, I respect the potential danger of the process, but they are just small pistol primers. My cousin and I smashed a bunch of rifle primers one at a time on a concrete block with a hammer when were kids. We had a blast (hee hee), but they were like firecrackers without the messy shredded paper. Nobody got hurt, but I acknowledge the high degree of stupidity involved. In fact, I'd beat my kids' a$$e$, if I caught them doing that. But, you you do dumb stuff as a kid that sometimes turns out to lower your inhibitions even when you know better later.
  19. DOH! Didn't think that one through.
  20. Too bad for me...GT Dist. only sells ammo to LEOs. That's GREAT price.
  21. Where can I find 38 special rounds that cheap? Seriously though, I completely agree. .22 mag rounds in a pistol don't make sense unless you're on Swamp People. One guy used a .22 mag revolver to kill gators he caught. He could have used a 9mm for the same price and gotten better results. In a rifle, that's a different story. I LOVE shooting ground hogs with a .22 mag.
  22. You got that right! I just pawned my car to get me some extra bipods and optics. I can't wait to show off at the range.
  23. sounds like fun, took the survey, hope it pans out
  24. I use coffee cans.
