  1. I wouldn't shoot someone else's reloads ever, but more importantly...I wouldn't let anyone shoot mine. It's not that I think mine are unsafe, otherwise I wouldn't shoot 'em myself. The issue is liability, I guess. That and it'd feel like kissing each others' wives, LOL.
  2. His comments were overblown, IMO. Regardless, if ESPN feels his comments reflect poorly on them they have a right to stop letting him represent them. He exercised his 1st Amendment rights and suffered the reprecussions. I just hope that ESPN suffers worse consequences for firing him.
  3. People can get fired from a job for something they do on their own time AWAY from work (stupid Facebook comments, DUI, etc.). If the company thinks your behavior can adversely affect their business they'll fire you in a heartbeat.
  4. Sometimes one slips past the Sheriff Darwin and the Gene Pool Police, huh?
  5. I'm REAL interested in hearing how they run too. I have been thinking about getting a .22 conversion for one of my CZs, but they are so expensive. I didn't even know Glock made them. Good news, if you can get your hands on one, I guess. They look like Advantage Arms, are they?
  6. Exactly what I keep telling folks! I had to listen to the guys call them "training wheel" sights and make fun, but I can clean a plate rack pretty damn quick with them. In the end, that's all that matters to me...they work. They are combat sights, not plinking sights.
  7. Never had this happen to a holstered weapon, but it happens with my Kel-Tec P-32 a lot when I use a DeSantis pocket holster. I guess I must be leaning against stuff or something, especially if I have it in a back pocket. I got worried, since it happens more often than not. So, I switched to a BlackHawk pocket holster and it never happens anymore.
  8. I completely agree with nicemac & quietguy about the CT grips. I've had 3 handguns with CT grips (still have 2 of them). They are awesome training aids and I've never been disappointed in them at the range. Also, the Big Dots are different, but they are outstanding at what they're made for. I ran them on my Glock 34 for a long time in IDPA. Despite being picked on by some old-schoolers, I was impressed with their performance. I think they are even better than fiber optic sights at fast target transitions. Their weakness is that they aren't pinpoint accurate, because the front dot covers the POI. I also liked how easy they are to line up the post with that big ol' dot.
  9. Most of my practice with my P-32 is around 15 feet. I have a 1-round extension on one mag and a the other is a 10-rounder. I practice 4 or 5 shot burst, depending on which mag I have in. I figure if I can get all 4 or 5 in a 8" circle, I'm doing good. The rest of the time I'm impressed with how accurate it is at 10 yds with the CT laser.

    Walmart SUCKS!

Walmart is paying a fair enough wage and treating their employees well enough that they always have a long list of applicants wanting a job. Some people that take that these low paying, part time jobs with no benefits have so little to offer that they're lucky to get a job at Walmart. Others accept a minimum wage job and use that as a stepping stone to prove they deserve more. Sadly, too many choose to prove they don't deserve what they're getting, let alone more.

    Walmart SUCKS!

^^^This, EXACTLY! It amazes me as well how much some people hate and attempt to penalize success. Let's face it, when my LGS wants $30 for the same box of ammo that WM has for $18, it's a no-brainer who gets my money. The honest truth is that I'd pay a $1-2 more to avoid going in WM, but the LGS can't be satisfied with such a small mark-up. So, I'll stick with just guying guns from the gun store (if I can't find what I want used). Don't get me wrong, I hate waiting at the ammo counter too. So, I do what R_Bert says. I call them and ask for the CS Mgr or just stop by the service desk on my way into the store and tell them I need someone at the ammo (since I know they won't be there when I get back there).
  12. Sounds like something my brother-in-law would do and he's way older than 10.
  13. This is too good to be true...the sheer genius of the idea is astounding. WTF took them so long?
  14. Nice site, I especially liked the "Metal Guide Rod" page.
  15. The Republican nominee: I want a nominee that will make fiscally sound choices, reduce the size of gov't, protect our borders from illegal immigration, stand up to the UN/World Court, and keep us safe from terrorists. At this point I will settle for a fiscal conservative with at least an inkling of national pride. What I expect to get is Romney instead.
  16. I dropped 2 pistols off to be Cerakoted earlier this week. I went with a stainless steel and black on both. One will have black controls and slide with a stainless frame, the other will be reversed. I'll link back here with some pics and the price when I pick them up in about a week.

    Glock Question

I've seen copper grease sold as a thermal paste for mounting heat sinks to a computer motherboard and for preventing rust / corrosion during storage. I wouldn't have thought that would make it a good hi-temp lube for guns. So, I did some research and I stand corrected...looks like one of the most common uses is to prevent wear in gears. In fact, it's thick and cohesive enough to resist being flung off of drive shafts, which sounds like it would make a good slide lube after all.

    Glock Question

I'm not questioning Glock's intent by using the copper grease, but surplus guns arrive coated in cosmoline "for a reason". I'm not gonna go shoot one without removing that goop. I'm just saying what I've heard is that they put it on there for long-term storage. If true, it wouldn't be the best lube for running several hundred rounds through. If not, there's no question that the stuff I used to replace it WAS meant to be shot.
  19. I had my Lee Auto Disk setup to drop 4.3gr of Bullseye when I was loading 115gr 9mm bullets. I was a couple dozen rounds short of finishing a box, so I grabbed another handful of bullets. I accidentally took them from the box of 124gr bullets, which I usually only load to 4.0gr of the same powder. I didn't realize what I had done until next time I reloaded some ammo (after it was all shot up). I didn't have any issues, thank God, but I would still pull the bullets if the same thing happened and I caught the error. I'm not one to press my luck, because next time...I might be shooting my Glock instead of my CZ Shadow.
  20. that's a great looking knife, congrats mav

    Glock Question

I cleaned all that off mine when I got it and lubed the slide rails with synthetic grease. 600-800 rounds later...clean as a whistle
  22. I had a bad experience with Classic Arms (http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/curio-relics-black-powder/59735-i-promised-folks-classic-arms.html). Maybe others had better luck, but I'll stick with J&G Sales and AIM Surplus.
  23. Lester has your answer on the nose. Weighing 10 charges to see the average is how I was taught. Even a cheap powder measure with the lowest bulk powder won't be off by an amount that would be dangerous. Then again, I'm just making plinking/target ammo or rounds that are just legal for matches.

    Mouseguns

Oh come on moonshine, you know the deal...post some pics or it didn't happen.
  25. Yeah, I got duped this past weekend. The RKShows.com site said there was one in M'boro Sept. 17 & 18. There was something else there this past weekend and a billboard nearby said Hendersonville (which matches what the Gun Shows USA site said). Today, the RK Shows site was updated to say Sept. 24 & 25 is the M'boro show, but Gun Shows USA says RK Shows is in Atlanta and Lexington. I don't know who to trust now and will likely stay home.
