Science Proves it! Right-wingers are racists/of low intelligence
BigK replied to TMF's topic in General Chat
There's different areas to apply conservatism and liberalism too. I know plenty who are conservative about economics and liberal about social issues. I also know social conservatives who are liberal about economics. People as a whole seem to be all over the place to me. -
^^ THIS EXACTLY^^ My car sits untouched for 9 hours (with or without a gun in it) while I'm relatively safe inside the building with security downstairs. The commute to and from and during any stops I need to make to/from are my concerns. Rules like "no guns in parked cars" are seldom known until you're already hired. It's just easier to keep to myself, stow my protection under the seat in a lockbox, and nobody will ever, ever find out. If requested to be searched, I can refuse "on principal" and find another job.

I had to survive 2 whole days without my smartphone once when I lost it. Miserable times I tell ya, miserable. Wouldn't wish that hell on anyone.

Hey smokndav, do you dry-fire yours much now that you'v upgraded the firing pin? Does that new firing pin make it safe to do so? I've been looking for a site where I can get new springs to hopefully lighten the trigger like you did. Got a link?

One Person Shot At Hickory Hollow Mall
BigK replied to Volzfan's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The guy at Rivergate Mall may have been Arab instead of Indian in this case too. I'm not sure...they all look alike to me. just kidding everyone, don't call the PC police -
Thank you, that's my point exactly! We all make decisions like this every day with our wallets. If a store is posted for no carry, I go elsewhere with my money just like you said. Sometimes there's no other option (like flying on a plane vs driving or going to the post office vs using a mail store). I have to choose to do without or compromise my convictions. This was such a no-brainer for UFC that they didn't even have to think twice. Hello FOX, hello money, hello mainstream...good bye fringe viewers who won't watch due to the no gun rule FOX insists on holding them to. I can boycott FOX and/or UFC or neither or both...depends on how strongly I feel watching compromises my morals.
-
Some people have smaller hands, too.
-
I guess Dana and the UFC were supposed to abandon their dream of making MMA a mainstream sport by telling FOX "no", just to avoid making me mad?
-
Excellent article, comments were hilarious. Some kept calling the 19 yr old robber a kid and saying the customer could have shot to wound or at least not shot him twice. I couldn't believe it.

Makes perfect sense! Good call. I read the story and was thinking why go back in the mall to bring friends instead of calling the cops. It didn't click in my head til you mentioned this. -

I once saw an unfortunate young man at Rivergate mall arguing with an Indian guy at a jewelry kiosk. The young man must have recently been on a very successful diet, because his clothes were practically falling off of him. I'm guessing he just woke up and had a jewelry emergency, since he didn't even have time to tie his shoes before leaving the house. At first I figured the Indian guy's wife must have given him a bad haircut and wasn't around to apologize. I'd be mad too, she was either an incompetent barber or had some seriously faulty clippers, because there were lines and grooves cut all in this poor guy's hair. The Indian guy must only sell jewelry as a hobby or when he isn't at his dentist office (what a hard worker, 2 jobs and all). Turns out the young uban guy was actually mad at his dentist about some faulty gold dentures he'd bought there. Either they weren't fitting right or had broken or something and he was really mad. I couldn't hear everything from the bench were I was having a snack, but it seems the dentist wouldn't give him his money back. The young guy had to be confused, because he wasn't even half the other guy's age, yet he seemed to think he was his father. Something about 'you gonna make this right, son' and some other word I couldn't make out that sounded kinda like 'NoWha'AmSayn?'. I was sure I'd run out of popcorn before the show ended, but the dentist indicated that the conversation was over. The young guy must have been pleased with the outcome, since he vowed continue his patronage. He even offered to help the jewelry kiosk with some word of mouth marketing. At least I guess that what 'I'll be back, son, and I'm bringing my boys, yo' means. What a nice young man. -
Man, I love me some flashlights. I have about a dozen or more, but the 2 I trust the most are the 4-D Maglite by the bed and the old Coleman in the kitchen that takes the big 6V lantern battery. I can't carry either on me, though. The one I tote every day is a cheap Deal Extreme light (MX Power ML-310 Cree WC-Q5 3-Mode 180-Lumen LED Flashlight (1*AA/1*CR123A) - Free Shipping - DealExtreme). It uses a AA and puts out one helluva beam on high (180 lumens), but it gets hot. It will actually make you feel sick to your stomach on strobe. It has never failed me once in the 2 years I've had it and I use it a lot. I love the pocket clip too.

I know you weren't asking, but...I can tell you the Packers beat the Steelers in last year's Super Bowl. I have no idea about the World Series either. I haven't watched a baseball game since the strike.

As you can see, people have differing opinions about various aspects of reloading. Some prefer single stage presses, some prefer turrets, and some prefer progressives. Some prefer hand priming and some prefer on press priming. Dolomite's top mount primer sounds awesome, but you probably can't get your hands on one since they're no longer made. Sounds likie nicemac likes his on press primer, but I doubt his setup is in the budget. I haven't found anything for a Lee press that I like, so I prefer the hand primers hands down. I didn't mean to make is sound like you had to have the auto-disk for a turret. Dolomite's right, you can hand drop the charge with a funnel. I'd just rather let the equipment do it for me. It'd be nice if you knew somebody with a press to let you try it out. I'd offer, but you're pretty far away.
-
I noticed you only listed pistol cartridges to reload. Depending on the volume you expect to shoot down the road, I'd look into a Lee auto indexing turret press. If you want to learn in single stage mode, just remove one part (5 seconds, literally) and there ya go. Best of all, you only have to set up your dies once per caliber on a turret ($10 per caliber) and when you change calibers, you just drop in a different turret and all your dies are ready to go. You will need a different powder measure (Pro Auto-Disk Powder Measure) if you go with a turret. This one is case activated, meaning when you pull the press handle to send a shell up into the powder die, the case causes the measure to release the powder directly into the shell case. Only other thing I'd stress is to get a handheld primer from the beginning. Trust me, you'll end up with one eventually anyway when you realize you hate every on-press primer you waste money on.

Brian, I freely admit that I'd only be 100% satisfied if your article had started with "Here's why anti-gun people are wrong..." followed by hand-picked statistics and testimony that supported this undeniable fact, and ended with "...now if you still think more gun laws are necessary, you're just stupid". I'm certain it'd at least be easier to research and defend than one that supported a different hair-brained conclusion on the subject. Seriously though, I hated the title, but I know you didn't choose it. I hated how you ended it, leaving uninformed people with the idea that Cho and Loughner bought their guns illegally at gun shows. Otherwise, I can clearly see that you made an obvious and calculated attempt to be objective. I sincerely believe you tried to present both sides equally and I appreciate that. Plus, you came back here to defend your work and stick to your guns (pun intended). I have a great deal of respect for you for that, especially since it's clear so many disagree. I bet it's not been necessary to get on the Internet to defend your journalistic integrity to a bunch of anti-2A weenies who think your article was biased in our favor. But if you do run into somebody who says your article was a blatant pro-2a hack job, send 'em here...we'll make 'em feel welcome...promise.

I know better than to argue with someone who's worked as a mechanic or some other trade when it comes to tools. Using them everyday definitely makes you a better judge of what's good and what's not. I just tinker in my garage on little projects here and there. If my livelihood depended on them, I'd probably buy better stuff too. I guess I'm lucky that for my purposes, el cheapos work out fine. -
Since my Packers choked, my heart just hasn't been in it. However, I haven't missed a single SuperBowl in over 30 yrs. I still love football and will watch, but not as enthusiastically.

I don't know, some people may be harder on tools than others. I've got a few name brand tools mixed in with my HF tools. I can tell a difference in quality and all, but not enough to jsutify 4 or 5 X the price. Aside from a set of titanium drill bits that seem to be disposable after one use on metal, I've had pretty good luck out of what I've purchased. For the tools I use often enough that it looks like I'd wear out 4 or 5 cheapos over the years, I'll buy a name brand tool. Most of the stuff I get from Harbor Freight will hold up just fine for ocassional use. -

There's a Norther Tool around here too, but I've only been once (to fill propane). I didn't have time to look around. How do the prices compare? -
I have owned 2 guns that have come from Angus and the guys over at CZ Custom. The first was that SP-01, like the one he showed w/ the full-length dust cover. It had an amazing trigger and the only reason I gave it up was to get the Shadow he kept mentioning in the video. I wish you could shoot it at least once, just to see how much of a difference the competion hammer and professional trigger job can make. I think it's worth it. In fact, instead of buying another gun w/ my tax return this year, I'm sending them my P-01.

After 40 minutes and 3 Kleenex, I am finished with the video. First time I've had a chance to hear a true pro talk about their line-up. Damn impressive, thanks for posting.

The nearest Harbor Freight is next to HH Mall. So, I just strap up, plan for a daylight excursion into hostile territory, stick to my objective, watch my six, and GTFO before dark. So far, every mission has been a success and there have been no casualties. -

WHAT?! Didn't you see EMB145's link? Where else are you gonna find that kind of fashion and fellowship? -

I think your URL is broken, but I did hear about this on the radio. I've been there about a year ago and went into the mall near that Asian store that sells the fake knives and weed pipes. I looked for and saw no signs, but wasn't looking in the parking lot.
