Hide yo kids, hide yo wife! Black panthers in Middle TN!
BigK replied to monkeylizard's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I have it on good authority that the lil black kitty is being adopted by the Jack Links sasquatch as soon as he can save up to have it spayed or neutered. -
Doomsday Prepper has his guns confiscated by the state of TN...
BigK replied to Zulu Cowboy's topic in General Chat
Sshhh! You know they're listening, right? Be careful or you'll get us all locked up. -
I put a regular 3.5 pound Ghost connector and a Wolf spring kit (6 # trigger spring, 4# firing pin spring, and reduced power firing pin safety spring) in mine and did the 25 cent trigger job graycrait mentioned (be REAL careful to only polish the contact points of the parts - the process should not remove any metal). It made a world of difference in the pull and got rid of almost all of that bendy plastic feel of the original trigger.

When I got mine, I ordered it online, sight unseen. I have no regrets...especially for the price. The problem I suspect you'll run into is that few if any shops stock them. The original finish is not very likely to impress you much. It's usually flaking and chipping from heavy use or worn off and dull in the case of moderate use. They can be made to look great for a little of nothing. I had mine cerakoted, added Marschal grips, and substituted Beretta mag baseplates. All sum total, including the original gun price, I have around $350 in it.

Nice guns. I like them both. If yours had his finish...I'd call it perfect.

Burglars shot in East Nashville this morning
BigK replied to EastHipster's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I'm sure most of us hope the victim isn't charged with anything at all. I for one think from the few facts we have so far, he did real good. It's sad to me that he'd even have to worry at all, but this is what happens when you take too much "justice" out of our legal system. -

homeowner with warning sign on front door killed
BigK replied to Erik88's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
You guys make good points both ways, but the more comments I read, the less I think it makes a difference either way. The BG in the OP probably didn't "see" the sign at all, but that may or may not have been a deterent either way. -
I was happy to see how busy they were too. I like them guys. I was working my way around the table at one gun I wanted and didn't get there in time. Another I came back for and it was gone. Good news for them, not for me. LOL

I got my feelings all hurt at least twice today at the show. First time, somebody bought the SR1911 I wanted. I was literally within 10 feet of it but couldn't get my mitts on it first. Second time, I had a Sub 2000 in my hand and was offering cash money, but somebody was already filling out the paperwork. Despite these disappointments, I enjoyed myself and will go back tomorrow.

homeowner with warning sign on front door killed
BigK replied to Erik88's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I agree about the signs giving away your element of surprise. I still can't help but wonder what, if any, deterrent value they have. If we believe that an armed citizenry is a crime deterrent, how else will a would-be criminal know? -
^Very well said^

Assuming you are referring to "The Art of War", it's impressive that a 2500 year old book is so applicable today. -
General Assembly responses to Safe Commute emails
BigK replied to Sky King's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I got 9 replies to the form-letter emails I sent from TFLAC and all 9 were form-letter email responses. There's some irony in there, I guess. -
homeowner with warning sign on front door killed
BigK replied to Erik88's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
In some other robbery case I read about somewhere, the victim shot and killed one of 2 criminals and the surviving criminal was charged with the death of the his partner in crime in addittion to robbery and whatever else. I liked that idea and hope it applies here too. I sure wish the homeowner hadn't died, but at least he took one scumbag down with him. It may sound cruel, but I'm glad she didn't die instantly. She deserves every moment of pain she endured before she died. -
The comments below the article are rather enlightening. I wouldn't have guessed UFCs fan base was so liberal. If it makes anyone feel better, this weekend's FOX matches were just so-so. Out of the whole 2 hours, there was only a minute here and there of good fighting.

My dad worked for GE in M'boro for 35 years before he retired. The factory workers were making good money and building good products. He said one day they announced they were packing up and moving to Mexico. NAFTA made this possible, but voting in the union around the same time, and driving up costs didn't help either. Regardless, my dad said 'How can you blame them?' If it costs more to stay in business here than it does to move all that stuff to Mexico and start over, why would they stay? His rationale was how can you justify paying an American $30/hr to run a press when you can pay a Mexican $5/hr to do the same thing? I agree to some degree, but I've also noticed that GE used to be a top-knotch manufacturer, now their appliances are no better than the Chinese crap at Walmart.

Yeah, asking if you can bring a gun to work would go over about as well as asking about the drug testing policy. That really sucks about Nissan. In all the 20 years were there any incidents that led to the new policy? I'm guessing not, probably some corner office type decided to "upgrade" for the sake of political corectness or some perceived liability.

SmoknDav, you have to upload pics to a site like Flickr or Photobucket (both are free). They "hold" your pics for you to share w/ others via the web. You then copy the url and put it b/w the IMG tags. Also, on the Harrington site is a pretty darn good list of other sites where you can get parts. One, Numrich (Numrich Gun Parts Corp. - The World's Largest Supplier of Firearms Parts and Accessories) has practically any part you could need.

Science Proves it! Right-wingers are racists/of low intelligence
BigK replied to TMF's topic in General Chat
There's different areas to apply conservatism and liberalism too. I know plenty who are conservative about economics and liberal about social issues. I also know social conservatives who are liberal about economics. People as a whole seem to be all over the place to me. -
^^ THIS EXACTLY^^ My car sits untouched for 9 hours (with or without a gun in it) while I'm relatively safe inside the building with security downstairs. The commute to and from and during any stops I need to make to/from are my concerns. Rules like "no guns in parked cars" are seldom known until you're already hired. It's just easier to keep to myself, stow my protection under the seat in a lockbox, and nobody will ever, ever find out. If requested to be searched, I can refuse "on principal" and find another job.

I had to survive 2 whole days without my smartphone once when I lost it. Miserable times I tell ya, miserable. Wouldn't wish that hell on anyone.

Hey smokndav, do you dry-fire yours much now that you'v upgraded the firing pin? Does that new firing pin make it safe to do so? I've been looking for a site where I can get new springs to hopefully lighten the trigger like you did. Got a link?

BigK replied to Volzfan's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The guy at Rivergate Mall may have been Arab instead of Indian in this case too. I'm not sure...they all look alike to me. just kidding everyone, don't call the PC police
