  1. Admittedly, most of my time was spent going back and forth between my tools and the mouse to be sure I didnt miss a step during reassembly. Guess I wasn't smart enough to print them out or study them before I started.
  2. Despite the excellent explanations and first hand accounts, some still will insist that they won't do business with a company that charges a cc fee. It seems like you still don't get it. If the vendor accepts plastic and doesn't offer a cash discount, WE ARE ALL PAYING THE FEE. It's hidden in the price. Just because it isn't in your face, doesn't mean it isn't there.
  3. Wow! Only 8 hours? The first time I completely disassembled mine was NOT my first time at the rodeo and it still took me that long or longer. You are now qualified to fix nuclear subs, automatic transmissions, and perform brain surgery.
  4. That's more like it! Why do these internet sites think everything needs to ship UPS? Same thing happened to me on LA Police Gear. I wanted 2 patches totaling $10, but shipping was $15 more. NO WAY!
  5. You still need RO's for the match? I could sure use another Glock, maybe a 36 this time. I'll be shooting the one I won last year at the match
  6. What do they think these officers are going to do with the firearms that is so threatening?
  7. Good answer, I can't stand this prick or Jon Stewart either.
  8. Where is this illegal alien right now? Unless the answer is her country of origin, I'm even more angry. Let's say a black man is pulled over due to racial profiling, but the officer finds a kilo of coccaine, a 12 yr old kid tied up in the trunk, child porn, and an illegally modified AK-47. Do we pay him $200K for his inconvenience and return his drugs, hostage, porn and gun? Hell no we don't! So, this woman better have at least been deported, because getting to stay here is the equivalence.
  9. Great looking gun! That CZ 75 platform seems like it'd go a long way towards taming the snappy recoil of a .40S&W. If it shoots half as good as the 9mms, it's gonna be better than most. How well does it handle followup shots?
  10. I can't disagree, but I've seen you shooting a Glock too and they're almost as ugly
  11. All expenses, like CC fees, are eventually passed onto us consumers. Some of the ones we don't see are corporate taxes, employee health insurance and anual raises, toilet paper in the mens room, theft/shrinkage, lazy employees who take long breaks, etc. I don't begrudge them charging me for the fees they incur when I swipe my card any more than I begrudge their employees healthcare. I think it's cool of them to let anyone willing to risk carrying around enough cash to buy a gun to opt out of the fee.
  12. too funny ...IBTL
  13. Excellent videos. I saw this first hand last weekend. I took a friend who's never shot a handgun with me to the range. I watched my 1911 waggle around in his hand like a fish, but it cycled every darn time. Can't say the same for G17 or C9, they choked every single shot until he finally listened to me about how to grip it.
  14. I looked up the EGW chamber gauge. If I understand it's use you drop a round in to check to see if it'd chamber in your gun, right? Please forgive my ignorance, does it do something calipers won't do or is it just that it's faster/easier? Again, I have no clue...only been reloading for a year now.
  15. I appreciate all the input, guys, thanks. I think the next time I need powder I'll give #5 a shot. I sure have heard a lot of good things here and on other forums. In the meantime, I'm pretty excited about the sample pack of bullets (BHN 17) that should be here tomorrow. I'm getting 4 types in all, 25 of each: 185 gr LSWC, 200 gr LSWC, 200 gr LRN, and 230 gr LRN. I haven't loaded any lead since last summer when I was loading HBWC for a revolver I used to have. I've never loaded/shot any lead bullets in any semi auto. Should be fun. I'm especially anxious to see how the SWC feed, because I liked that bullet type in revolvers. I'm most curious about this because if you load it to a mm or so below the shoulder like with revolver rounds, you have no control over the OAL/feeding. I guess that's putting the cart before the horse, they wouldn't make them if they didn't feed well in 1911s, huh? Anyway, can't wait to see how they shoot. Do you think I should proactively pick up some liquid alox and start using it from the start or see how they work first?
  16. Now there's some words of wisdom for ya right there! I reluctantly sold mine this weekend to a friend that needed it more than I did. I couldn't in good conscience let him gamble his life on a gun 3x the price. He simply couldn't afford better. However, not everybody buys a pistol for self defense. Some just like to shoot pistols on the weekend, but have Mossberg 500 by the bed. These people may enjoy their Taurus even if the have an ocassional malfunction.
  17. I don't agree completely that non-citizens have a right to due process in our legal system. If she'd followed the law and applied for citizenship then yes, she deserves her day in court to sue for being wronged. She broke in knowingly, dodged the law for however long she was here, and the instant she was found to be here illegally she should've been loaded on a bus and dropped off in the country of her origin.
  18. Everything I've read and every instructor I've ever listened to say the same thing. It's not bashing or stating opinion to say some types of guns are better for certain purposes and it's not an unfair blanket statement about any single type/brand. It's based on scientific observation and I believe it. I had the privilege of attending one of Aaron Roberts' classes and he gave me a hard time about bringing my SA/DA CZ-P-01, instead of a striker-fired pistol. Initially I was offended...CZs are damn good guns and mine ran perfect all 3 days (~1800 rounds). However, my first shot from a ready position in DA was CONSISTENTLY less accurate than from the same position in SA...just like he said. I believe that if you see consistant patterns over thousands of experiences, you'd be crazy not to use/share that info.
  19. I have no issue with criminal profiling. It's the only way some crimes could ever get solved. Racial profiling by LE is a different matter. If she was only pulled over b/c she looks Hispanic, she was wronged. However, once it was discovered that she had broken the law, do we just let her go? I don't want jack-booted gov't thugs kicking in someone's door to find some reason to haul them off, but this woman DWI (driving while illegal, LOL). They didn't go into her home and drag her out. It's a slippery slope, but illegal is illegal. After she was found to be here illegally, she should never have been here long enough to pop that kid out OR to sue.
  20. Every thread I've ever read about Taurus, Kel-Tec, or Hi-Point sounds the same. Some had a bad experience, some good. Some hate them, some don't. Some defend them, some pile on. Nobody can deny they have more issues on average than more expensive brands. Nobody who has one that works will admit there are design flaws. I think the customers that buy on price point alone will accept the flaws, while those who've had nicer guns won't.
  21. Yeah, I had to pay MSRP. There's no motivation for them to sell a gun under that price if it leaps off the shelves I guess.
  22. My take on his comments is that some perfectly awesome guns are great for SD or the range, but not suited for a combat class. Also, the guy could've bought the gun the day before the class and thought it would run perfectly without breaking it in since he paid $1200 for it.
  23. Thanks Jonnin. I see what you mean about the low charges and margins for error. The .45 cases seem awfully big for such a low volume of powder too. Sounds like sticking with Win 231 or trying #5 would be the better way to go. About the cleaner burn of less powder...Bulleseye is about as low volume and hot as anything I've heard of, yet it's dirty as hell to shoot. Do you suspect that's due to it being such an old formula or what?
  24. I've gotten several recommendataion to try AA#2 and AA#5 and many of you seem to agree. It sounds like AA#2 would be similar to Bullseye (a little goes a long way and meters well). If I'm not going to see much difference in how well it burns, it seems I'd be better off sticking with the powders I'm used to. Would you say I would be able to tell much difference in how clean AA#2 burns compared to Bullseye? Win 231? How about #5?
  25. You must be living a cleaner life than me.. If I'd been luckier, they wouldn't have had one and my wallet wouldn't be as light as it is now.
