  1. I'm trying out some Berry's 185 gr plated SWC right now. They look so funny with that big ol .45 acp case and that lil bitty nose sticking out the end. I think SWC are the hardest to find 'good' load data for. Since they need to be seated to a certain depth near the shoulder, you can't go by OAL anymore. You have to calculate how much bullet is inside the case and see what else seats to that depth AND is of the same weight before you can get a starting charge that's as close as possible to what will work.
  2. As a strict interpretationist, I think requiring permits is a violation of our rights. Too few people agree with me, so I'm stuck with the laws we have. However, I can't help but wonder why the SCOTUS struck down poll tests, but not HCP testing. Seems like any test used to grant rights we should already have are just plain wrong. If the argument is about public safety, I'd be in favor of dropping the HCP testing and require parenting tests. Afterall, stupid people are much more likely to botch child-rearing than they are to shoot somebody. I see it every day.
  3. Cool story...finding a corporation with real ethics nowadays is like finding a leprechaun riding on a unicorn.
  4. That looks like it'd be a lot of fun to play with. TWSS
  5. I can't get my wife to take anything like this seriously. She thinks I'm overly paranoid for just wanting the front door locked at all times.
  6. That's one way to keep up the illusion. Passengers with full-size shampoo bottles better watch their backs agains.
  7. I laughed out loud at work watching those fools run from him...especially that one group where he singled-out the fat chick and separated her from the herd...I bet she peed a little
  8. The show wasn't bad, but nothing spectacular either. DLM was the star of the show for me, since I needed bullets. I wish I'd needed primers too, you won't find a better deal anywhere. Another vendor had a great price on Glock 17 factory mags, so I bought all of them. That transaction alone paid for my admission and parking. I also got to drool all over a CZ 75 TS for the first time, wow! I had no idea how badly I needed one of them. I've also been wanting a Glock 36 for a while and finally got to fondle one. Glad I did, I didn't realize their grip was till too huge for my lil girly hands. Il enjoyed looking around, but if I suspect many won't think it was worth it.
  9. It's been a while since I've been to a gun show. Sure, I'm in.
  10. I've learned a lot reading this conversation. One parallel I found most interesting is the bit about 'where Christianity was when it was the same age as Islam is now'. I can't help but think that if Christians had the kind of bombs back then that radical Islam has today, we wouldnt' be having this conversation...there'd be no Muslims. Both sides had swords back then and both sides have bombs today. Ain't progress grand? One big difference I see is that Islam is out-breeding Christianity by leaps and bounds all over the world. By the time they outgrow the violence, they will be plentiful enough to achieve all their goals (whatever they are?).
  11. Sounds like a publicized slap on the wrist to Zimmerman to appease the race-card crowd to me.
  12. Now that's funny!
  13. That might be the first time I've ever agreed with Jon Stewart.
  14. Who makes the best Kool-Aid, really? I can only imagine how that would go around here over who's momma makes the best biscuits 'n gravy.
  15. I feel your pain, Caster. I'm way better looking than I am rich too. My Lee primer flips SPPs, though like Mike's does. Ironically, I have a real cheap/crappy Smart Reloader hand primer that never flips anything and I got it free from a friend.
  16. I only OC at Steak N Shake
  17. I'm not up to speed on NY's state constitution, but I'm sure the U.S. Constitution does NOT empower the gov't to decide what I can/cannot eat or drink, so it's a state's rights issue. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if NY added it as an ammendment to their state constitution. You know...for their own good and all. I agree: stupid should have consequences...they elected this jacka$$, they deserve what they get
  18. Looks like an easy call IMO... With the Lyman kit, you're gonna buy some kind of priming tool and powder measure right off the bat and they'll cost WAY more than the $70 difference With the RCBS kit, you have a much better start, but you'll prolly want 49th ed. of the Lyman manual
  19. I'm still torn here ...one side of my brain says OC is part of a set of rights that must be exercised to be kept, so tote 'em if ya got 'em ...the other side of my brain says OC the Brady activist types want more laws that cost us more rights, so don't scare the sheep
  20. Not sure if it was a Hollywood spin or true, but the irony of how the 2 patriarchs' characters reversed is interesting.
  21. Now you're talking! Just haul it all over here to Nashville. That sounds fair (it's kinda in the middle and all).
  22. I wonder if they sift out more of the dust when it's for pets than they do when it's for reloaders. The bag I got is nice and course with sharp edges, just like you need. Hope it works for you.
  23. Interesting...figured there must be some logic behind it, otherwise it wouldn't be such a widespread practice.
  24. Good one, new to me...thanks
  25. It's hard to find 40 people willing to review a product. It's even harder to find 40 that all agree how awesome something is. That lizzard litter may be the same stuff I use. I thought it was for bird cages, but not sure. I did get it from Petco. It's real cheap compared to reloading media and has little to no dust.
