This whole conversations made me think of when my HS f'ball coach thought we weren't hitting hard enough in practice, he'd say "Y'all quit playin' grab-ass and get in there and hit somebody". I always wondered about that turn of phrase. Was there ever an actual game called grab-ass? I can see how you'd lose a game like that, but how do you call a winner? Did all the players move out west to San Fran?

The vendor had a smallish booth and since his sons were there to help, I assume it's a relatively small gun shop. Big retail outfits can absorb this kind of loss, but that's about a week's worth of groceries to a small shop owner.

At the gun show last weekend I was at a booth looking at a gun. The guy running the booth went to walk around, like they do, leaving his son to hold down the fort. He seemed to know what he was doing and we talked for a minute until a really old man (70'ish) and his wife walked up. He asked if the stainless Ruger SP101 was SA/DA and the guy told him it was DAO. The old fellow picked it up trying to unhook the security cable without asking and fumble with shaky hands. As the guy tried to unhook it for him the he wrestled with the trigger not even noticing the zip tie. The guy offered to remove it, if he wanted to get a better feel. The old man nodded and the kid turned around to get some wire cutters. The old man pulled out his little pocket knife and was trying to cut the thick cable tie by the time the guy turned around with the wire dykes. The guy at the booth said 'hold up, let me get that, so you don't scratch it', but the old guy had already slid his knife under the tie and was wrenching at the tie. Me and the younger guy cringed as he tried to stop him. The old guy was shaky and didn't stop as the young guy tried to take the gun away from him. I thought the old man would accidentally cut him, but he gave up when he couldn't cut through the tie. He got frustrated and finally put the gun down. We immediately noticed a 2" gouge in the metal where the point of the blade had scratched it up pretty deep trying to wrestle the blade under the tie. When the guy at the booth said, 'hey look, you just scratched it all up', the old man just dismissed it and doddered off. I was speechless and offered to hang around while he went and got somebody. He was scared his dad was going to blame him, but there was NOTHING he could have done. I think the old guy should have had to buy the gun since he damaged it pretty bad. Nobody is gonna be able to overlook this deep gouge. What do you guys think?

He's meticulous and informative, but I can't sit through his vids either. He's kind of nerdy, in a bad way. I'm not saying he's a fake, but he kinda seems like he's trying too hard to be the tacticool guy. -
I can vouch for this...I came up to the station once to get some sights pushed over on a Glock...he was TOTALLY cuddly, LOL. Just kidding about that, Mr. TN-Popo, sir. Seriously though, I see this anti-touching thing with some of the younger guys at work. Ironically, most are from up north too. I don't think it's a homophobic thing, just a paranoid thing. They prolly grew up being told that every grown man that lays a finger on them is a pedophyle or something. I didn't like the ass-slap in HS football either, but the elbow-grab handshake, paw-on-the-shoulder handshake, shoulder-bump back slap, or friendly elbow bump are just sincerely friendly jestures and don't bother me in the least.

I'm happy for you. Mine got to come home after boot camp and at Xmas in the middle of SOI. It was truly a blessing.

I was pretty decent at those tricks until the hinges broke. Which reminds me of another awesome thing about Zippos...lifetime warranty! I mailed mine in and they replaced it. Unfortunately they did NOT engrave my name on the new one.

I'm trying out some Berry's 185 gr plated SWC right now. They look so funny with that big ol .45 acp case and that lil bitty nose sticking out the end. I think SWC are the hardest to find 'good' load data for. Since they need to be seated to a certain depth near the shoulder, you can't go by OAL anymore. You have to calculate how much bullet is inside the case and see what else seats to that depth AND is of the same weight before you can get a starting charge that's as close as possible to what will work.

As a strict interpretationist, I think requiring permits is a violation of our rights. Too few people agree with me, so I'm stuck with the laws we have. However, I can't help but wonder why the SCOTUS struck down poll tests, but not HCP testing. Seems like any test used to grant rights we should already have are just plain wrong. If the argument is about public safety, I'd be in favor of dropping the HCP testing and require parenting tests. Afterall, stupid people are much more likely to botch child-rearing than they are to shoot somebody. I see it every day.

Cool story...finding a corporation with real ethics nowadays is like finding a leprechaun riding on a unicorn.

That looks like it'd be a lot of fun to play with. TWSS

I can't get my wife to take anything like this seriously. She thinks I'm overly paranoid for just wanting the front door locked at all times.

That's one way to keep up the illusion. Passengers with full-size shampoo bottles better watch their backs agains.

I laughed out loud at work watching those fools run from him...especially that one group where he singled-out the fat chick and separated her from the herd...I bet she peed a little

The show wasn't bad, but nothing spectacular either. DLM was the star of the show for me, since I needed bullets. I wish I'd needed primers too, you won't find a better deal anywhere. Another vendor had a great price on Glock 17 factory mags, so I bought all of them. That transaction alone paid for my admission and parking. I also got to drool all over a CZ 75 TS for the first time, wow! I had no idea how badly I needed one of them. I've also been wanting a Glock 36 for a while and finally got to fondle one. Glad I did, I didn't realize their grip was till too huge for my lil girly hands. Il enjoyed looking around, but if I suspect many won't think it was worth it.

It's been a while since I've been to a gun show. Sure, I'm in.

I've learned a lot reading this conversation. One parallel I found most interesting is the bit about 'where Christianity was when it was the same age as Islam is now'. I can't help but think that if Christians had the kind of bombs back then that radical Islam has today, we wouldnt' be having this conversation...there'd be no Muslims. Both sides had swords back then and both sides have bombs today. Ain't progress grand? One big difference I see is that Islam is out-breeding Christianity by leaps and bounds all over the world. By the time they outgrow the violence, they will be plentiful enough to achieve all their goals (whatever they are?). -
Now that's funny!

Good Morning Mayor Bloomberg, you putz.

That might be the first time I've ever agreed with Jon Stewart. -
Who makes the best Kool-Aid, really? I can only imagine how that would go around here over who's momma makes the best biscuits 'n gravy.

I feel your pain, Caster. I'm way better looking than I am rich too. My Lee primer flips SPPs, though like Mike's does. Ironically, I have a real cheap/crappy Smart Reloader hand primer that never flips anything and I got it free from a friend.

I'm not up to speed on NY's state constitution, but I'm sure the U.S. Constitution does NOT empower the gov't to decide what I can/cannot eat or drink, so it's a state's rights issue. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if NY added it as an ammendment to their state constitution. You know...for their own good and all. I agree: stupid should have consequences...they elected this jacka$$, they deserve what they get -
Looks like an easy call IMO... With the Lyman kit, you're gonna buy some kind of priming tool and powder measure right off the bat and they'll cost WAY more than the $70 difference With the RCBS kit, you have a much better start, but you'll prolly want 49th ed. of the Lyman manual
