Shooting at Denver theater during new Batman movie.
BigK replied to K191145's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
If someone had tried to interfere, I believe the media would prefer to hear that it be some gangbanger with an illegally owned Jimenez .25 acp shot back (missing with all 6 rounds of course) than for an HCP-holder to have fired one/two well-placed shots, stopping the bad guy. -

My prayers go out to the victims and their families. I can't begin to imagine the grief, fear, confusion, and anger they must be battling with right now. While I wish nothing but ill for the spineless coward that committed this evil act, I'm glad he's alive, so he can answer questions and be made an example of. However, I do resent the fact that this will cost the taxpayers millions of dollars. I'm not looking forward to the spin that media and the left will put on this, especially right before the election. This is NOT the kind of fuel that I want them to have right now. -
Congrats Jesse, hope I see a guy with a stainless P95 and a big ol smile at the shooting range this weekend. If I do, I'll say hi. Where do you shoot at?

Of the guns I've ever sold/traded, I miss the Ruger SP101 the most. It was the hammerless snubbie and was great for pocket carry. Changing out $5 worth of springs made the trigger feel like butter too. It was way smoother than most revolvers I've shot.

I'm with you in spirit, but sometimes jail is worse than a beating.

I have a 15 year old daughter, so I know how angry they can make you. However, I don't care if she was stealing stuff off the Internet, that's no excuse for this kind of a beating. This guy's a psycho and so is his wife. I think they both deserve some prison time.

sounds like *SOMEBODY* has a problem with commitment

POLL: How do we get out of this two-party debacle we're in now?
BigK replied to BigK's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I hesitate to call myself a Conservative, b/c of the baggage that comes with it. Some people fail to see a distinction b/w fiscal policy and social policy. I'm VERY fiscally conservative, but I want to stay out of peoples' business. That doesn't mean I want their business shoved in my face either, though. Most important, though, is that the gov't has to quit picking winners and losers in the economy. They punish success through the tax code and that makes me furious. I'm sick of the class warfare crap most of all. -
Police: Hug Triggers Officer's Gun, Kills Woman
BigK replied to Curiousgb's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Even on her knees behind him, the physics don't seem to work. Maybe if she pulled the trigger and it ricocheted off a sidewalk straight or something similar, I'd believe it maybe happened while the gun was still holstered. -
I'm all for term limits for congress anyway, so bring on the "FIRE EVERYONE" concept. I'm all for it. Now that everyone in Washington is a career politician, they'll never pass laws to prevent it. So how do you position a new party to be viable? Please vote here ==> http://www.tngunowne...le-were-in-now/ <==

Someone pointed out in another forum that America needs to vote our convictions instead of voting for the candidate we think can win. I'm dying to know what most people think is the most viable platform to challenge the status quo. What do you do? Can you be wishy-washy enough to take the whole center and say to hell with the right and the left? Do you alienate the left and those left of center to pander to the right? Vice Versa?

Progressive control for decades... Detroit is a wasteland
BigK replied to MattCary's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
You guys are awesome! I'm glad to see so few of us falling for the "support American car company" crap. By the time I was old enough to drive, Japanese cars were widely known to be cheaper, better-built, and longer-lasting than American made vehicles. While Detroit was putting out the Citation, Omni, and Pinto...Japan was shipping over Sentras, Corollas, and Accords. Fast-forward 30 years later, Detroit still doesn't get it! The Japanese and Koreans aren't smarter. They don't have any secret techniques we don't know about. They don't use materials that we can't get our hands on. They don't have any insight into consumers' minds that we don't have. Yet, this is the best Detroit can do? The bailouts are going to make it worse! You think Detroit was mired in apathy, short-term greed, and over-reliance on the government before? Wait til the next time they're in a pinch. The taxpayers will be expected to bail them out again now that there's a precedence. -
Since they came out with the Gen4s that fit my little girly hands, the grip angle is the only major thing I can complain about. I added a Grip Force Adapter and that helps, but it still feels a little unnatural when I switch from any other gun to the Glock at the range. I think a previous post hit the nail on the head, Glock fanboys make more people hate Glocks than the guns do. Likewise overzealous fanatics of anything turn me off, even if they have good intentions to start with.

You are absolutely right! Our founding fathers were idealists and they would truly be ashamed of the 2-party system we've allowed to take root. It's just hard to be a pragmatist and an idealist, so tough choices must be made.

I disagree. I think voting for fringe parties IS a wasted vote. Furthermore, I think it is the strength of the 2 major parties that got us into this situation. Party affiliations were created to categorize candidates. Without these categorizations, most voters couldn't spend the time needed to learn every candidate's position on the major topics in order to vote more accurately. Some of us do lean strongly to one side or another, but the majority of America, like it or not, is in the middle. The whole battle is to lean JUST far enough to one side or another and keep the center on your side. Wanting viable 3rd or 4th party choices that are more closely aligned with your beliefs is natural and admirable. I understand and agree with your principles completely. However, there's too much at risk for both sides to back a 3rd or 4th party that has no chance of winning. Sure, the Republicans are no longer conservative enough for most of us, but they're more conservative than the Democraps. We cannot afford 4 more years of this crap, so NOT voting for Romney truly IS like voting for Obama.

For my birthday a few years back, my wife bought me a sharpener that I'd consider way too expensive. It's a Chef's Choice sharpener by EdgeCraft. It has magnets that keep the blade at the proper angle and the abrasive surfaces vibrate against the blade. It does a great job on my kitchen knives, but the angle is only good for kitchen knives.

I shudder when I try to imagine how screwed we'd have been if Al Gore had been President on 9/11. I also shudder when I try to imagine how much worse our economy would be if Kerry had been in charge after '04.

I bought a Smith branded knockoff of the Lansky system and while it's not as sturdy, it works well. The reason I like it is that I get a perfectly consistent edge every time. Maybe I don't have a steady enough hand to use the traditional stones, who knows? I do know that *I* cannot get a sharper edge than with the rods and guides with any other system. http://www.smithspro...sp?id=34&cid=21 $20 at Walmart.

I assume you have to take vitamin/mineral supplements and drink fiber drinks to stay on this kind of diet long. Any ill effects from this that you've noticed? Also, I've heard that during the first couple of months the ketones cause body odor that no amount of Speedstick will tame. Any truth to that?

The bad thing about these mag loaders is that you run out of ammo faster at the range.

Here's some more details: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/for-die-hard-zombie-fans--a-chance-to-romp-with-the-undead.html They plan to make $18.8M this year!!

GREAT recommendation! I bought a brown one and a black one and came out cheaper than one BeltMan belt. They may not be "as" good, but I've used mine daily for several years now and they don't even show any wear.

Here's the best one out there, IMHO. http://www.maglula.com/PistolMagLoaders.aspx It's NOT clumsy, very efficient, and will save you lots of time and blisters.

I've read all the books and seen every episode. I'm right there with ya...hooked!
