  1. Take a look at http://www.southernohiogun.com . You have to have a C&R license on file to see availablility, but you can see their current catalog. It'll have relatively up-to-date prices, but more importantly lots of pretty pictures and a good idea of what you can get with your license. I can't agree more with the CZ 82 recommendations. It's one of the most accurate lil guns I own and it feels like a million bucks in your hand. I ordered a second one in January on a Thursday from SOG for $260 and it arrived the following Monday. Nagants are tempting for the price, but if you've shot one, you'll feel like you over paid, LOL. They have nearly a 20# trigger pull and that's NOT an exaggeration. But, they're neat and unique and you CAN shoot them SA. They recoil about like a .22 or a good pellet gun. For about $40 more you can get a Taurus 82 revolver in .38 Special. Tokarevs are neat too and decently priced. They have a VERY powerful round that rivals many modern cartridges. Only problem is they are very uncomfortable to shoot due to the 90 degree grip angle. CZ52s have a little better angle, but they aren't any more fun to shoot unless you get the 9mm barrel too. The 2 C&R handguns that have been tempting me the most is the Walther P-1 (9mm - $340) and the FEG (9mm - $330). I'm leaning toward the FEG, b/c it looks like a CZ 75 clone.
  2. Or a darn good used car...but with current gas prices you need a half mile headstart to get out of his range for the same price. Seriously bada$$ setup, OP. I hate you.
  3. I heard about this on the radio today. GREAT news, hope it works and wish the idea would spread. I don't want LEOs shooting revolvers at criminals who have fully auto AKs that were smuggled into the country, but I don't want innocent law-abiding citizens to either.
  4. I've been wanting one fore a LONG time.
  5. As part of the shooting community, I feel like it's more my responsibility than the safety officers (if there are any) to watch my six. They are there to keep the range safe, so every second they spend helping a new shooter is a second someone just as inexperienced isn't being supervised properly. I'm not trying to be mean, but beginners should take responsibility for their own education instead of expecting the facility where they shoot to instruct them. There are classes they can pay for, free books at the library, and excellent videos online at reputable sites like NSSF.org and NRA.org. If someone doesn't realize these resources are out there, they should suck it up and ask someone they know is experienced for help. There's no shame in that, in fact, I'd say it shows a lot of dedication and initiative. I've had complete strangers ask me for advice/help at the range and I'm always flattered and eager to help. So, I agree with a previous post. Don't avoid crowded public ranges. Be more involved and civic-minded. We complain all the time about the state of this country when we can often be part of the solution.
  6. These a-holes don't wanna fix it. They just want more and more of our money to with as they see fit. This is just another tactic to scare us into thinking more taxes is the only possible answer. The media will make certain that message "sticks" too.
  7. As a C&R guy, I hope so. I like having multiple places to shop. I haven't been able to complete a single order with them in past, but SOG has been fast and easy every time. I guess I'll have to resubmit my license and give them another try.
  8.   Same here, nothing but problems with them. They've sold me stuff they said was in stock only to find out weeks later they were waiting for a shipment. I asked the same grumpy lady how they advertise graded firearms that they haven't received yet. All she said was blah blah blah high volume blah blah blah constantly rotating stock blah blah blah impossible to keep up to date blah blah blah.
  9. I worked nights and my wife worked days from the time my youngest was born until she started school. I ran all the errands, did the doctor visits, paid the bills, shopping, etc. with my lil princess in tow while my wife was at work. I got stopped by a complete stranger in Food Lion one day. He said, he sees me everywhere with that young 'en and she's always so well behaved and happy. Then he said, I must be a really good father. ...that was the proudest moment of my entire life and I will NEVER forget it.
  10. It's a trick question! Nobody with that much brass would use a single-stage press.

    Some toys

Awesome collection! I can't wait to get my hands on a KSG...if they ever make enough of them for them to get down to MY price range.
  12. He should have "Zombie Apocalypse MVP" tattooed on his chest!
  13. The best threads are always immortal
  14.   That's one of the WMDs that assaulted me at the office.   If you have good employees that meet deadlines and churn out high quality work, you gotta keep them happy. The little things like a top-knotch coffee service, air hockey, foosball, free Rockstar Energy drinks, and no PTO policy go a long way.
  15. I'll have to make a better counter weight, b/c this will only send a marble-sized plastic ball about 6 feet. At least it works.
  16. Yeah,I work in IT for an education software company. Great place to work (they're even HCP friendly). The Nerf Nerds will rue the day they darkened my portcullis.
  17. I was attacked last week at work, not once, but twice. I did nothing to provoke either assault...I was minding my own business. The first encounter happened on Tuesday, when I was headed back to my cubicle when I was shot twice with a USB powered missile laucher. The second attack ocurred on Friday. Two assailants with Nerf guns creeped up on me. One laid down suppressive fire from my right while his accomplice circled around and shot me. I wanted to put this in "Survival and Preparedness", but it's really only my pride that suffered. Nonetheless, I vowed to serve the cowards that waylayed me a dose of their own medicine. So, today I started building a jelly bean launching trebuchet. It may lack mobility and I may not have the same rate of fire as my attackers, but I plan to win the war with cool points instead of littering the office landscape with bodies. I think that will repair my wounded pride faster than bloodshed. I'll post pics as my project progresses.
  18. Minus a better forward lean, I'd say the brunette did pretty good. @NoBanStan, you better quit staying up so late watching hotties shoot shotties on the Internet or your own hottie will put the smack down on you, LOL.
  19. If some thug comes to rob me, he will be injected with an adequate dosage of lead to dispatch the threat to me an mine. I only hope that all my shots aren't into his back. That way I don't have to 'splain nuthin' to a DA/Jury or a civil court. It'll be clear what went down.
  20. I figured the full name would make it easier in case the OP might want to look it up online. It'd be an even better place if there were more rifle lanes.
  21. I've been wanting to do this for years. I'm a pistol guy, so some long gun shooting would be a fun new experience.
  22. Not to mention the recorded evidence of him shooting at fleeing suspects who no longer pose a threat. Luckily they were still inside the bldg when he fired.
  23. Welcome to the party from La Vergne. +1 for the TWRA range (Stones River Hunter Education Center) on Hobson Pike. Good deal at $5.50/trip or $101/year.
  24. I've only ever fooled with the small of the back and the hind legs. Dredge them in egg roll them in flour and pan fry. Cooked like that and served w/ fried eggs and biscuits is the only way I've ever had them. That dumplin recipe sounds fantastic, though.
