you guys rock! I went from being mad as hell and ranting about money to laughing my butt off in the same thread

It isn't quite the chick magnet that a Mustang is, but it's dependable and frugal...too bad chicks don't dig that.

Martial Dillon was a good guy he'd never steel your cache.

I drove a Kia Spectra for 8 years before I got a truck. My wife got one 6 years ago and is still driving hers. They get around 30 mpg in the city and just over 36 mpg on the highway. They aren't fancy, but there's not a thing wrong with them mechanically. It'd easily last another 5 or 6 years, if she doesn't get tired of it first.

Money is the biggest part of the problem. A fiat money system only works when the gov't controlling its value can be trusted. We trusted them and they dropped the gold standard. Now they can do anything they want to the value of our currency. You work your ass off for a dollar today and next year it's not worth as much, because they printed too much money. Then they have the nerve to call it "inflation" as if it's some natural phenomenon that cannot be controlled. Then they lead us to believe that our money is ours, but we want it to be more secure. So, we make the system electronic with imaginary 1's and 0's flying around in a computer somewhere. All they while, if you do something they don't like they can flick a switch and turn your 1's into 0's and freeze your accounts. We made it too easy for them, it's inevitable that they'll eventually do what Cyprus did. They'll say it's for our own good and that it's to preserve our way of life, but the ants will always be forced to feed the grasshoppers. There's already 47 grasshoppers for every 53 ants. And as soon as there are 51, we're screwed!

I think last night's episode was a HUGE improvement over last week. I agree that it was Martinez that burned the zombies, but I think Milton might have something to do with it. Maybe Milton is staging a coup and Martinez is helping him. They both seemed to be fed up w/ the gov's plans last week. When the gov starts whistling in the torture chamber, Andrea and Milton are wrestling over the gun. Neither sees whether he sees them or not. We only assume he didn't see them, but the way he's whistling in the warehouse when he's stalking Andrea made me suspect it. That means the chair is Milton's next.

I looked up some really nice boxes, like Weather Guard, but wow, they're really proud of them. Some were $800 or more. If I could spend that much I'd get a sliding box or this one: I'm guessing some of the low profile boxes are longer (front to back) than standard boxes, if they hit the wheel well? The only 2 I've seen so far were the same length as the others, but they don't stick up as far over the rails (meaning a little less storage, but that's worth it).
-
Sounds perfect. Amazon has a Delta low profile 14.5" deep for $240 delivered. I may have to jump on that.

I have a F-150 SuperCrew w/ a 5.5' bed. If I can fit a rifle, 3-day backpack, tent, sleeping bag, a few tools, and maybe a case of water, I'll be happy.

Great stuff guys, thanks! I didn't think about the latch mechanism at all and wouldn't have guessed you could open the lid from the side.

I tools some measurements earlier and compared them to some specs online. Seems most lids are around 5" above the bed rails. So I cut a board that wide to see if I'd be able to reach in from the side...no go. I'll have to get a low profile lid.
-
How about a slide out box on rails. It was my favorite option on the Nissan Frontier, but I went with an F-150 instead. I really like this box, but it's a modular system and would run close to $1K installed...screw that.
-
With a single lid, I'd have to be in the bed to unlock it and open it anyway, right? I can reach over the side of the bed and just touch the bed (if I tip toe). Assuming the inside floor of a deep box is a couple inches off the bed, I may be able to reach the bottom. Does that affect your visibility when backing up? If not, I like this idea too. Of course this means no way I can reach in when standing beside the truck, though.

I'm shopping around for a toolbox for my truck. I've never bought a toolbox before, so I could use some input. Here's what I've come up with so far: Type - I think I'd like a crossover better than a chest, so it's up off the bedliner. Plus, I don't like the way the chest types look. Lid - A single lid seems like the way to go, since you have less wasted storage space. Plus, I can't reach inside a gullwing box from the ground anyway. I assume they all have locking lids, but that's a must. I understand that some have sealed lids and others don't. Is this a big deal? I'm thinking of stashing a cheap pistol and a Mosin in there. Material - Aluminum seems the most economical and durable for the money. Steel would be more durable/secure, but it's way more expensive. Poly is just plain out. I don't know if shopping by what guage the metal is would be something worth considering. Depth - this is the main point I can't decide on. I want the deeper box, but I'm not convinced. It seems being able to slide lumber and whatnot under the box and have it rest on the tailgate when it's up would be good. I'm not sure I could do that with the deep box. The extra storage space might be worth the trade-off though. Price - I see a lot that I like priced from $250 - $400, so I'd like to stay in that range. Any input would be appreciated, especially features I haven't thought of and brands to avoid.

Wow, you guys! Where's your southern hospitality at, huh? I'm not feeling the love.
-
That last bit may be the key. When you see the same person selling ammo a lot at marked up prices, give the IRS a call. It may not do anything, but cause them some hassle, LOL.
-
That's a good deal. Most places online want twice that price.
-
That's what I'm hoping it means, but first time they start tossing cars and find a locked gun safe...I can't help but wonder if they'll freak out and claim it doesn't apply at a prison.
-
My wife works at a state prison. They are subject to search when entering the parking lot. She doesn't have a permit yet, but I'm trying to talk her into it. I wonder how this would affect her.

I love DA/SA pistols w/ decockers. I've been having a serious internal debate between this one and a P220. This makes the debate even tougher.
-
I saw some pigs race around a track at the State Fair once for an Oreo cookie. Gives me another good idea...Zombie Races...staple some numbers on a dozen zombies, turn a live chicken loose, and take bets on which zombie catches the chicken. I'm thinking televised events here, it might even put NASCAR out of business.

That's pretty cool of you to post those links in multiple threads, thanks Earl33.

Wine in Grocery store bill fails in committee
BigK replied to graycrait's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I don't really care where the money goes or where it comes from. Anyone profiting from laws that protect their business at the expense of the voting populace can just figure out a new business plan. If they lose some business, so folks can pick up a bottle of wine when they shop for groceries, so be it. If I had my way, I'd take away their exclusive rights to sell liquor too. At the same time, I think it's ridiculous to tell liquor stores they can't sell smokes, beer, corn dog, or whatever, too. -
