  1. they truly are an elusive critter, huh? only thing I ever learned about hunting snipe is that they apparently fit in that sack you mentioned, otherwise I could have walked right past a dozen of them.
  2. There shouldn't have to be an internal vote on whether to allow gays. I wasn't asked to make a statement of heterosexuality as part of the gruelling onboarding questionnaire. I'm pretty sure if there was a merit badge for dating girls, I'd have tried to earn one. I don't even recall a "who digs chicks the most" contest at the Winter Camporee. We played basketball, built campfires, walked around in the woods hunting snipe, and other cool stuff. Ocassionally somebody might call somebody else a fag if they couldn't climb down out of a tree on their own. Otherwise, nobody's sexuality was ever called into question. In fact, it would be pretty inappropriate to discuss it all.
  3. You might check out www.NSSF.org; they have geographic listings for all kinds if safety, marksmanship, and defense courses.   I'm glad to hear that you realized that having a handgun and getting your HCP aren't enough. If they were, anyone could buy a hammer, saw, and nails, read some basic directions, and call themselves a carpenter.
  4. a Ghostbusters quote! the nerd club is getting bigger.
  5. Defective minds think alike...leave it to you to dig up a pic, though. :D
  6. Really cool, reminds me of a scene from "Ghost Busters".
  7. I used to watch my dad sharpen a knife on a handheld stone and get it sharp. I can't do it. Mine never has a clean edge. I can't make every stroke at the same angle. So, I have to use a system of some kind. I like the Smith/Lansky style and used one for a while until another thread just like this turned me onto the Spyderco Sharpmaker. It's so easy, even I can do it.
  8. I hope they lose their a$$ when all this is over and go bankrupt.
  9. Not a Dodge fan, but this is a very cool idea. Then again, what do I know? I liked the "man step" that Ford came out with.
  10. Whoever sold this guy guns at the Bill Goodman show when he was 15 years old will not let a new law prevent him from making a sale.
  11. That's hilarious! Surprised he didn't ask where you put the "clip" or how many rounds it holds.
  12. I can accept ignorance, if it's teachable. I can understand a one-time oops, if nobody gets hurt and it doesn't happen again. I cannot accept complacency and inattentiveness. There's no room for it, especially when firearms are concerned.
  13. Wow, there ain't a day-trader out there that wouldn't kill for that ROI!!
  14. I'm not surprised. She seems to favor her mom a lot and he seems to favor you. Maybe he needs an electric toothbrush that makes farting sounds while he brushes. You could get a matching pair.
  15.   My bad, I see that now. I see an interesting sounding thread and sometimes don't notice what section it's in, thanks.
  16. I was at an Advanced Handgun class a few years ago and the man on the extreme right of the line had brought a compact 1911 that he was having jamming issues with. I already had my eye on him b/c he looked to be in his 70's and was shaky as hell. I mean like Muhammed Ali shaky, not just doddering a little. We'd just holstered back up when I looked down the line and saw him trying to muscle the slide back and he momentarily swept the line. I shouted over, "Hey, watch your muzzle" and he apologized. A couple of other students thanked me and said they'd help keep an eye on him and the instructor helped him clear his jam and we went on with class. Not 5 minutes later, he's doing it again and using so much force he's visibly shaking. His finger is firmly depressing the trigger to aid his grip. I grabbed 2 of the 3 guys between us yelled "LOOK OUT- GUN!" That worked everybody cleared a hole and I circled around and told him to put his gun away before he kills somebody. He handed his gun to the instructor and they talked a minute and the man left with no explanation from either. After the class I said to the instructor, I hope you didn't have to give him his money back, but he did and had asked him to leave.
  17. Assuming you mean how many handgun calibers do we stock defensive ammo for: 9mm Luger 9mm Mak .32 ACP .380 ACP .45 ACP Like the others, I keep defensive ammo for my go-to long guns too: .223/5.56 20 ga 12 ga 7.63X39
  18. Very well stated. Same lesson learned here. I've added 4 rifle calibers to my collection and stepped up my shooting on one pistol caliber. I have been able to stockpile enough ammo to feel "okay" for all 5 calibers, but I'd need to double my stash to feel "good" about it. Had this craziness only lasted a few months most of us would have been fine. People who were already buying ammo on the way to the range are the ones stroking out and paying crazy prices. I hope they've learned something.
  19. I've never had a shottie coated, just Parkerized or blued, but I have 2 Cerakoted pistols a year or 2 ago. I am VERY pleased with both and they've held up well. One has seen 1000s of rds and shows absolutely NO signs of wear at all.
  20. You guys are killing me. I can barely keep up with the Joneses on guns, now you're showing me knives I didn't know I needed too. Both are dead sexy!
  21. There's another really good CZ gunsmithing outfit down in West Monroe, Louisiana called Cajun Gun Works. The owner goes by smecky on www.CZFirearms.us. He even has some improvements that CZ Custom doesn't offer.
  22. Sounds impressive, can't wait to hear how it performs.
  23. I thought you were a Glock guy.
  24. I am embarrassed to admit recently trading one of my CZs for 2 rifles. I can barely live with the shame.
