Most modern handguns made by the major mfg will suit your needs, but you gotta do some leg work. Go out and handle a bunch and narrow your choice down to less than half a dozen and then ask about pros and cons. That way we don't just recommend OUR favorites, that might not be right for you. Look for ones that feel comfy in your hand, have the capacity you want, the features you want, and are in your price range. Be certain to try some SAO, DAO, SA/DA, and striker fired guns. You'd be surprised how much that difference that one option makes. Then, you'll have a short list that folks can point out things about that you might not have considered.

Nope, no way in hell that big joker would get that close to me without being poked in the nose with a broadhead or shot.

you'd have to see my neighbors to understand why I have so little faith in them if I had time to assemble a group, it'd be different. they'd want me around and i'd want them around. we all have a similar mindset about survival and disparate talents we can all take advantage of. I doubt time would allow for that, though

Too bad he's not a better shot.

Well, don't I look like an ass hole? I had no idea, 50. I assumed you were holding the camera?

Cool gun, I like the sights too. I'm not making excuses for KT, but parts break sometimes. I've seen really high dollar guns break a slide stop pin. I even saw a factory front sight fall right off a Glock at a match once. I broke a factory front sight off my G34 while practicing drawing it from a Kydex holster. $hi+ happens. I'm curious, when you have a firm 2-handed grip, does it still have the same feeding issues?

At a former job, I saw a dog in a kennel in the back of an SUV. This was in a parking garage where we had to go, if we wanted to take a smoke break. It was nearly 95 degrees that day and I couldn't believe some asshole would leave their dog in the car during an 8 hour work day, shade or not, windows cracked or not. I took the description and tag number to the bldg mgmt and then went to wait to give Mr/Ms asshole a piece of my mind. After 15 or 20 minutes nothing, so I went back to the bldg mgmt office to ask that they call the police. By the time I got back the car was indeed gone...about 150' to a new spot around the corner where you couldn't see it. Needless to say, I called the police and told them what happened. When they showed up, I swiped my card to let them in the garage. The officer said he had let his partner out around front to talk to the bldg mgr and told me it was under control and I "needed to go on upstairs and let them handle it from here". I did, but would love to have known what happened.

Congrats to the proud dad and please tell GySgt Oorah from another Marine dad. -
What is the most you will pay for ammo?
BigK replied to crossfire's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I reload handgun ammo, but not rifle ammo yet. I still hunt for deals on handgun ammo, b/c I can sell it at my cost to friends who need it. My GunBot settings: 22LR - 5 cents/rd 32acp/9mm Mak/9mm Luger - 25 cents/rd 45acp - 35 cents/rd .223/5.56 - 35 cents/rd 7.62 X 39 - 33 cents/rd 7.62 X 54 - 20 cents/rd -
I bet you the school adds a rule to disallow his shirt next year, but does NOTHING to keep teachers who are idiots from causing trouble.
-
Wow, am I missing something? 1) the school has no rule against wearing clothing depicting firearms? 2) a teacher takes exception to the kid's shirt and makes unjustified demands? 3) the kid refuses, resulting in the police being called? 4) the cop arrests the kid for not answering his questions? Good for this young man knowing the rules and standing up to oppression! I reread several articles and can't find who actually called the police. I assume it was the Fascist teacher. If it was the school admins that called the police, that would seem to indicate they agreed with the teacher's assessment and don't know their own rules. Even if the kid got loud back at the teacher, that seems like a huge overreaction.

You sure you weren't injured rappelling off a cliff to save some orphans being chased by a rabid pack TN black panthers? I could garner up a lot more sympathy. JK, Dolomite. Heal quick, buddy. Damn! somebody beat me to it...

I had to go with the thin aluminum grips from CZ Custom on my P-01, because I have small hands/short fingers. The Marschal grips on my CZ 82 were too pretty to pass up. Otherwise, I agree, VZ Grips are the absolute best.

I guess I don't really mind the picking up and sorting so much, since I'm already doing that to recover my own brass (plus a few more, on a good day). Hanging onto the strays until I have enough to be worthwhile isn't any more work, really. I just don't think I'd bother to bring it home, if I didn't reload and didn't plan to in the future.
-
I'm jealous. I wish I had a private place like that to shoot. I didn't realize you were just cleaning up after yourself. I'd be glad to come out and make a big mess with all my brass and then clean it up when I'm done. :D
-
If you can afford to shoot large volumes of 9mm and you're 100% sure you'll never start reloading, saving your brass is barely worth your trouble to pick it up. That's not to say I don't save brass in calibers I don't reload too. Difference is, I'm already picking it up, hauling it home, and sorting it out. If I've made it home with some odd pcs of brass, I hang onto them until I get 500 (if they're valuable) or 1000 (if they're something fairly worthless). The problem with 9mm range brass is that it's hard to find somebody willing to give you more than 3.5 cents each for them. Arranging a sale for $35 is barely worth all that stooping, sorting, and driving to me. :) There's better reasons to reload than to save money and they make it much more worth it. It makes shooting more fun IMO. I agree with gregintenn, you ought to consider it.

These are the VZ Tactical Diamonds. They are G10, which keeps me below IDPA's weight limit. They're the same as Sonny's, but his are the tiger stripe pattern, mine are the plain black.

Loved the bit about the 1911 in a Crossbreed Supertuck too. I hope "they" keep these coming, I love them. I liked this one too..

I was pretty disappointed this morning when I saw that email too. What D3vo said is pretty crappy too, no way later orders should be filled first. I guess it's just a well that I don't have any .22 ammo...I'd just waste it having fun at the range anyway.

I have a .jpeg copy too, just in case.

A friend of mine showed me the same thing on his target at a class a couple of weeks ago. He loaded 115gr bullets w/ 4gr of Bullseye and was shooting them out of a Taurus 24/7 Pro DS, which I believe has a 5.25" barrel. Too light of a load is probably what it was, but I didn't ask him the diameter (.355 vs .356), which I think could have been the problem too.

Mosins at Gander Mountain Knoxville

I freakin LOVE those rifles too. Even at $99 on SOG or Bud's, they wind up being $125-130 shipped to my house. I know that isn't much cheaper than a 91/30, but the T-53 is a lot more fun to play with.
