Kel-Tec holds it own among the subcompact semi autos in their price range better than Llama. In an apples to apples comparison that is weighted toward price, you can't do much better unless you buy a used gun. If you follow the "fluff and buff" directions on KTOG.com, you should be fine. I shot on box of ammo through my Kel-Tec with few issues, but still used the marks left inside and the KTOG instruction to make a pretty darn smooth little gun. I've carried it every day for about 6 years as either a backup or a primary.

I thought the hybrid holsters were such a good idea that I made a Kydex press and bought all the tools/hardware/materials to make them. I can't make myself one for less, even if I don't count my time/effort. Regardless, I find an OWB pancake style holster to be most comfy. I can carry my CZ P-01 all day in one and it's more comfy than my XD-S in an IWB holster.

did you sort by availability? I see plenty of .45 that is in stock

That's hilarious, because I do something similar. I put one earbud in the ear facing people and tuck the other in my collar. They serve as protection against small talk when I need to get work done.

Yet another one followed me home....**New Pics**

Congrats...big time!! Hard to believe something that old can be that beautiful and functional after all those years. -
I see those same people all the time and I usually feel the same way. Even though I was paying attention (visually), I was concentrating on rounding up to the next dollar. Add the earbuds to the equation and it only took a few seconds to miss something important. I was disappointed in myself to say the least.

I was getting gas yesterday morning and got a little scare... It takes a while to fill up the truck, so I had my earbuds in listening to an audiobook. I am pretty aware when I'm out and about, but not exactly code red...just my usually glancing around. I saw this black guy in a nice suit pull up to a pump across from me. He starts pumping his gas and goes and talks to a black lady directly across from me. I figured they knew each other, so I let him drop off my radar. When my pump clicked, I rounded off the last 26 cents, removed the hose, and turned around to hang up the nozzle. This guy was right on top of me. I mean uncomfortably close and with his arm outstretched. I straightened my left hand, holding the nozzle, moved back a few steps, and reached in my pocket out of instinct. Apparently that scared him as much as he scared me, judging by his expression. Realistically, it probably only took 1.5 seconds to evaluate the situation, see he had nothing in his hands but a church pamphlet, and let it register that it was the same guy in the suit from earlier. I pulled my hand out of my pocket and yanked my earbuds free as I hung up the nozzle and he apologized. He was trying to tap me on the shoulder to offer me a church bulletin and invite me to church. That explains being inside my "too damn close for comfort" circle. I told him "I'm good, you just scared all the Hell right out of me" but took one anyway, apologized for being so jumpy, and left. I'm NOT EVER wearing earbuds in public again...he wouldn't have gotten that close otherwise. Next time, it might not be one of the good guys...lesson learned, but I should have known better to begin with.

that's pretty cool

Sorry to hear that happened, especially at an event that's supposed to be all about community and all. Even if the other people weren't the type of scumbags to hit a parked car and leave, they'd have filed a report if their vehicle had any appreciable damage and wasn't some hunk of junk. So, at least you know what kind of folks you're probably dealing with.

I heard it was $hi++y

good stuff, man, hope to read more

Judging by the title, I was afraid this was going to be another negligent discharge story. While they aren't my favorite, I respect the brand and LOVE to hear a good "I love my new gun" story. So, congrats on finding something you like.

Minn. man convicted of murder in home invasion
BigK replied to midtennchip's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Sounds like a clear-cut case of premeditated murder to me as well. The "finishing shot" makes him a monster in my book and I hope his final years in prison are miserable. That being said, I have absolutely zero sympathy for Brady and Kifer, though. Considering their criminal past, the world is better off without them, even though the circumstances of their deaths is illegal. If every would-be criminal had a reasonable fear of the same outcome, they'd think twice about a life of crime. It's obvious that fear of the legal consequences isn't stopping them. -
Depending on the holster, you could switch to J-clips. They're a little bit less noticable. However, I agree with the concensus above that only "friendlies" will know even if they do notice.

Article: Top Concealed Carry Handguns... your thoughts
BigK replied to jgradyc's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The weight, dimensions, capactiy, and accuracy of their choices ar all over the place. I can't figure what their criteria were. However, they're a newspaper, so why would I expect them to know anything about guns? -
Last year they took in 20 guns. This year....SIX. That's 6...2 pistols, a rifle, a shotgun, and a couple of revolvers.

I like my Boker Kalishnikov pretty good for the price. My only complaint is the button is exceedingly harder to press than the need for safety dictates. It's so cheap that I tend to overlook it. I love that M&P the OP linked. It's hard enough to find a knife < $100 with an S30V steel blade, let alone an auto. The Benchmade linked above probably has the best action for the price. If it had AUS-8 steel or better, I'd jump all over it.

if that canvas on the sleeping compartments is zombie-proof, it might be worth the price

I saw an FDE Tavor at the gun show yesterday for $1729...I was already planning all the stuff I'd sell to cover part of the spur of the moment purchase. It was gone by the time I got back around to it, though.

I don't think I've ever seen a Fresh Market in my neck of the woods. There's a place over in M'boro called Just Love Coffee that roasts beans in house. I love that my coffee is never more than a week or so past when it was roasted. Another good place that roasts the beans before they ship is CappoJim.com. I've tried several of their beans and been damn impressed. If you use coupon code: jimbeans on a $25 order, you get 10% off.

I couldn't agree more!! Plus, my french press doesn't beep at all :taunt: ...of course it also can't be programmed to have coffee ready when I wake up either LOL

I've never seen anything at FGS that I would call "fairly priced". Personally, I'd drive over to the gun show in M'boro this weekend with a knowledgeable friend and see what I could find.

I thought they were both funny.
