  1. I don't agree that the 2 sets are equally easy to replace. It's way easier to replace a welder, janitor, line cook or bus driver than it is to replace a mid-to-upper level manager/director, let alone a CEO. To me that holds more weight than whether or not a CEO can run a lathe or install a water heater. True on so many levels. The CEO is like a general, he could have 50K soldiers depending on him for their lives. If he screws up the all die. Sad but true...if he loses one foot soldier or even a tank commander, the war goes on.
  2. Wow, I thought my wife and I were the oddballs on vacations. She takes a couple of weeks off every September to go somewhere with her mom that I don't like. I take a few days here and there to get a long camping weekend with our grandson. Every few years we take a trip somewhere together with our grandson, but it's usually the Smokies or a long weekend in Chattanooga for the aquarium. She likes to travel, I prefer what TN has to offer. That's how we like it too.
  3. You are 100% right about FDR. I don't care what he had to say, minimum wage is not a living wage. It's the wage at which zero skill workers and zero skill jobs meet. God knows the trash needs taking out and floors need sweeping at McDonalds. However, anyone who thinks they should be able to afford a car note, groceries, cell phone bills, and rent when that's all you bring to the table is destined to learn hard life lessons.
  4. I like the way you think! I forgot about vienna sausages...they're going on my next grocery list.
  5. I bookmarked the "unread" link and use that almost exclusively, unless I'm searching for something specific. I wish I could browse "unread w/out classifieds", but I doubt that's possible (let me know if I'm wrong). Does anyone else do something different? Just curious
  6. I've found the older I get, the simpler my taste gets. I never outgrew PB&J, but recently I find myself wanting the simplicity of pot pies, frozen salisbury steak, and ramen noodles.
  7. I thought the same thing first time a saw a quad-rail and a red dot on a lever action rifle. This project, on the other hand, reminds me of the immortal words of Oscar Goldman: "We can rebuild him it. We have the technology. We can make him it better than he it was. Better, stronger, faster."
  8. I catch a lot of grief from friends/family because both of my kids still live at home. I don't like it, but I'm not going to throw them to the wolves to free up a bedroom either. A couple of generations ago it wasn't weird for multiple generations to live in the same house. The only difference is they had a choice back then. This economy is so messed up, a young couple with good jobs will still struggle to afford housing and food and cars.
  9. This is what I had my heart set on too...dead sexy. I just can't bring myself to pay that much. I also considered a Yamaha Bolt or a Kawasaki Vulcan S, since both come in blacked-out versions and look nice too.
  10. Projects like this go way better when the builder is older, wiser, and more frugal. Too many young whipper snappers would just go buck wild with the grinder instead of waiting on parts and waste hundreds or thousands of dollars by chopping up high-dollar parts. I have a ton of respect for your restraint, both economically and mentally.
  11. My 3 favorites as well! Good stuff.
  12. Too late, LOL
  13. The fact that the attacker survived that many stab wounds makes me wonder if the victim used one of those new bladeless Swiss Army Knives otherwise he would've saved the city the cost of an ambulance ride.
  14. I know what you mean, I'm REALLY picky about EDC gear. I won't waste money on "close enough" either.
  15. Something like this? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B081GVZZC8?th=1
  16. I quit carrying a big single blade folder because I find a multitool or swiss army knife to be more practical. I have the original wave and the mut and I can't say which I love more.
  17. I'm jealous there's way too much light pollution where I'm at see anything.
  18. Our Founding Fathers said our right to bear arms was given to us by our Creator and .gov couldn't infringe upon them. Our .gov servants have chipped away those rights to the point where most of the country thinks we are beholden to them. One of 2 things will happen, we'll be completely disarmed in the near future or a minority of patriots will try to take back our rights by force from a majority elected .gov.
  19. No questions asked/no investigation...instantly shot on sight...I'd bet money on it.
  20. Sounds really stupid to me to make a knife that isn't a knife. Let the fools be fools, maybe this kind of sissification will help lead them to being bred out of existence.
  21. Praise Jesus, nobody was hurt.
  22. Knowing my luck, I'd forget to take off the glove. Regardless of the order of operations, a brisk handwashing needs to occur between each.
  23. I'd just be happy to see some whistleblowers on the board, so that when the scumbags try to continue being sketchy, we will hear about it. There is no disinfectant like sunlight, right?
  24. This happened to me ONCE too. I was running a pizza joint and just made a pizza w/ jalapenos. I nearly cried like a baby as I tried to rinse my junk off in the sink with cold soapy water. Wouldn't you know it, a customer walks in and sees me washing my junk in the bathroom sink. He looked down, looked me in the eyes and says "daaayumm" as he shook his head and walked out w/out giving me time to explain.
