Also here, if you still want a case deflector. http://aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=XANA3LWT&name=Anderson+Manufacturing+Lightweight+Sport+AR+Upper&search=upper+receiver

Let's hope he spends some time in prison and never drives again. He'll probably kill somebody someday.

Walmart strikes again, this time more serious
Clod Stomper replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in General Chat
I'm curious as to which walmarts this is. -
Yep. Very weak recoil spring with powderpuff loads. Unless he has gorilla fingers (or his name is Jerry Miculek) it won't be that easy with real loads in a normal pistol.

1) Why are you cleaning the gas key? Or the gas tube. Don't do that. 2) If you do get a cotton swab stuck in there, I don't think it will require a new key or screws, even if you disassemble it. The old ones should still work fine. 3) The first thing I would do to remove it is fire a couple rounds. I doubt a wad of cotton could last that long.

I know what it is. It's an .88 Magnum. https://youtu.be/Hd-0F4v1C54

Wow. How does that happen?

Nope. Won't shoot for crap. You better sell it to me. Just kidding. I used to shoot gas-checked cast bullets in my Marlin .30-30. They did fine. Can't give many details, it was a long time ago.

Lightening a Savage action....
Clod Stomper replied to Handsome Rob's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
According to legend, the Lee Enfield "Jungle Carbine" had poor accuracy or a wandering point of impact due to the lightening cuts that were made to the receiver. I haven't done an accuracy test between a full size SMLE and a carbine, so I can't attest with personal experience. So while it may be safe, it may also affect your accuracy. -
Well, they just aired this episode. Seth MacFarlane called it back in 2009. https://youtu.be/4ycl7cW2fXo

I'm skeptical about the veracity of this story. It's funny though!

Tactical Double Rifle Cases at Ollie's in Knoxville
Clod Stomper replied to Moped's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Sort of, but not really. More like some overstock or overrun stuff, some cheap and/or inexpensive tools. A pretty good selection of books, at least at the east town store. I may need to drop by and pick up one of those cases. -
I carry a snubnose revolver because.....
Clod Stomper replied to FortKnox's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I'm 42 and I've had a Smith & Wesson jam up hard, repeatedly, for no reason that I've been able to figure out. When a revolver gets jammed, it's not a simple tap-rack-bang. It will most likely involve disassembly. The reality is, if you've fired several hundred rounds through a pistol and it hasn't jammed, odds are that it won't when you need it. Given the same ammunition. I love my revolvers, but I'll usually take a pistol for defense. Back on topic, I don't carry a snub-nose. But my brother does. Why? It's small, simple and he doesn't have a small pistol. -
Go to the walmarts and buy 2 or 3 of the cheap pool mattresses/floats/whatever they're called. That'll get you and your gear across a body of water. They're light and cheap. Pretty durable too. I used one as a camp pad most of one summer and it held up for several months.

Custom job for Elton John?

Two of them actually. What happens when you combine Jerry Miculek and a double-barrel 1911? http://controversialtimes.com/awesome/world-champion-shooter-jerry-miculek-dual-wields-double-barreled-45s-video/

Never claimed I was good looking............
Clod Stomper replied to Pete123's topic in General Chat
That's hilarious. Animals act crazy during breeding time. I've never been confused with a donkey, but I was called a mule once. Because I can carry heavy loads over long distances. -
I won't argue with him about concealed vs open. But if you decide to wear a "photographer's vest", you may as well wear a fanny pack or carry open. Pretty much the same thing.

Knoxville area members please check in
Clod Stomper replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in General Chat
Bless your heart. When have you ever seen the need for a traffic light in town? The only traffic back-up I've ever seen involved wagons, horses or tractors. Caused a few of those myself. :) -
I guess I was lucky. I was a nerd too (in grade school, a B was pretty rare, mostly A's), but by the time I could turn a wrench, my Dad had me learning how to work on everything. And I was mowing when I was big enough to push a mower. I look forward to teaching my little boy the same.

Fer Pete's sake, call the cops already. For his safety. He probably needed to be in a hospital room at that point. I've seen a shorter version of that video on one of those funny video shows. First time I've seen the long version.

How many here trust their life to your own reloads
Clod Stomper replied to Ron Padilla's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I seem to have heard a couple stories about hand loads being an issue in self-defense shootings. And Dolomite has mentioned David's incident. I know it probably WON'T be an issue, but I'd like to make it one less factor. That said, if I happen to be carrying one of my oddball rounds for some reason, I'm not gonna run out and buy some expensive factory ammo for that occasion. I'll carry my handloads. And, yes, I trust my handloads just as much as or more than factory rounds. -
Following on the carjacking subject, I saw this on the Bookface this morning. Gotta watch the video. Pretty funny. http://m.wsbtv.com/news/news/local/man-holds-would-be-carjacker-gunpoint-until-police/nmL4Z/

Well, at least it didn't get uglier. :) I don't mind the finger grooves myself. What I don't like is that my trigger finger rubs the frame on top of my finger and the trigger guard on the bottom. The rifle term for it is "dragging wood" and its bad for accuracy.
