Shooting at Denver theater during new Batman movie.

Sounds like it was tear gas. And he was wearing a gas mask. That's according to a witness the local station just interviewed. -

My first thought was how conveniently timed this is with the UN ATT. But it's exactly the thing the ant-gun nuts need. They'll be there dancing in the blood today. I'm sorry to sound like I'm politicizing this tragedy. I'm sending prayers to the wounded and the families of the dead. Will -
The one in Knox on N Peters Rd. They used to occasionally have decent sales on ammo. So I went in there the other day to kill some time and I couldn't find ammo or guns. I know where the gun counter used to be. It wasn't there. I walked around the perimeter a couple times in case they just moved it. Still couldn't find the goods. Did I just get lost? When did they stop selling guns? Will P.S. I'm gonna feel really stupid if they're still selling shootin' stuff and I didn't find it.

That is a good thing to hear. At least we can be pretty sure that it was civilian LE who were involved in the B&Es, assaults and thefts. Far be it from me to disparage our military undeservedly or our law-abiding LEOs.

CMMG seems to be floating around everywhere, but all I can find are 1:7 or 1:8 twist. But they're priced right and I THINK all their barrels are Melonite/nitrocarbed.

I like Fenix lights. That's where I keep one (not a Fenix) mounted on my rifle. Except on the other side because I shoot left-handed. Will

Yes, I don't believe the same thing would happen, or would have happened in the same situation, except in a place like NO. But I can think of many places where it would almost certainly happen again. Think Los Angeles, Chicago, NYC, D.C. The caller said he was a gung-ho 21 yo. Guess what, there will always be a new crop of youngsters who will be just as ignorant of the law. It most likely won't happen here, or FL, or TX, etc., but I don't believe for a second that it wouldn't happen again somewhere. I don't know if anyone was killed. Probably nobody was, or we'd know about it. But what would have happened if someone had resisted those unlawful entries with force?

You are, of course, correct. However, rights can be usurped and infringed by governments. As they have been throughout history. Our foundation, the Constitution, was the first in history (that I know of) to enumerate and guarantee the rights of the individual over the government. Of course that doesn't sit well with those who lust for power. There are tyrants throughout recorded history who only want power over others. They will always find their way to positions of authority. Our Constitution was written to keep those very tyrants in check. But only if those in power consider themselves constrained by law. Why was the Second Amendment written? To guarantee that even if tyrants hold power that they cannot infringe upon the rights of the individual. It works. As long as a majority of citizens recognize that reason.... Unfortunately, too many have been conditioned to believe that anyone who recognizes that right must be a "kook". Or an "anti-government extremist". And that the government can do anything it wants, simply because it IS the government. So they don't even question when that gov breaks the very law (the Constitution) that created it. I know people, even in my own family, that think a firearm can be "banned" just because it isn't useful for hunting. The recognition of our God-given (or natural) rights has been bred out of us over the past century. Maybe it was never there. I do remember reading that the American Revolution was actively fought by only about 3% of the population. And only 10% were active supporters. But we won anyway. Don't forget, those patriots were "enemies of the state" at the time. The "kooks" and "anti-government extremists" of their day. Whew, I bet I just got the attention of some .gov agency. I better go to bed. Will Edit: Oops, I forgot to add my tinfoil hat smiley. Thanks gjohnson for doing that for me. Come get me you gubmint goons!

Yes. That's a common place for dents. That said, be sure you aren't overlubing your cases. That can cause denting in the shoulder. Are the dents there after firing but before resizing?

Those of you who live near the mountains are so freakin' lucky...

I'm a Tellico Plains native myself. When did you grow up there? I grew up between town and Ballplay, but went to Tellico for elementary. I assume that you went to Rural Vale elementary. My uncle lives there. Thank the Good Lord that Dolly didn't get Stokely Bottoms. Don't think for a second that Sevier Co is any better in regards to meth and all the other BS that comes along with it. On top of the drug problems, they have roads that are impassable nearly year-round because of the tourons . And all the associated crime that comes along with overpopulation. I wouldn't have that for anything. Will -
Widener's has some AR500 in stock. http://www.wideners.com/itemview.cfm?dir=1020

I remember him being on Neal Boortz' show a few years ago. Don't remember exactly when. And he stated that he and Neal were on different sides of the issue. He was on the side opposing 'assault weapons'. It's been a few years and I don't remember the exact quotes. Doesn't matter really, as long as he's really changed his stance. Glad to have him. Unfortunately, in my observation, his predictions have been mistaken, sometimes. Will

I wonder when Dick Morris became a 2A advocate. It wasn't that long ago that he wanted the "assault weapons" ban reenacted. Not to mention he was a Clinton adviser in the '90s. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to see a person come around to the right side,

Huge congratulations to you! You have it right. I used to buy all the "eat whole grains" BS. But how is a partial grain unhealthy, but leaving it intact makes it suddenly healthy? Nope. Stay away from grains, legumes, etc. For others who may be interested in this approach and don't know where to start, do some research on "paleo diet". If you have chronic inflammation or autoimmune disorders, look into "anti-inflammatory" and "autoimmune protocol". While you are correct that 90+ percent of weight loss must be dietary, I would like to suggest that one include fitness training to their health regimen. It will make the heart even healthier. Not to mention the increased strength, stamina and better looks. One doesn't need to join a gym or buy expensive equipment. Just find something fun that includes physical exertion and do it regularly. The more you do, the more you'll want to do. Thanks for posting this excellent information. Will P.S.: I am not a nutritionist and I don't pretend to be. My diet leaves much to be desired. I am, however, a certified personal trainer and I can't stress enough the importance of movement for MOST people. It just feels good (afterward anyway ).

Interesting. Wonder how big it will be. I don't know how large that conference center is.

That's so awesome! I wish I could have that while I'm playing Modern Warfare 3!!! Kidding, of course. But that's who this monstrosity would appeal to.

Woman killed after confronting men in car about speeding in west Mobile
Clod Stomper replied to a topic in General Chat
Unfortunately, video-taping them would probably have done nothing. These thugs were already endangering people with their driving, but nothing was done. I'm willing to bet that the lady had probably called the PD or Sheriff's office and had gotten nowhere. Just speculation on my part, of course. I hope they find these subhumans and give them what they deserve. I'll reserve my rant about dangerous drivers for another thread. -
Why Mexican carry is a bad idea...
Clod Stomper replied to daddyo's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Yup. Generally when I drop something breakable, I try to reach for it. But on the multiple occasions I've dropped a sharp blade, I jump back and try to avoid it. I've only dropped a gun a couple times, but it's a jump and a cringe. Maybe I'm more prone to "survival" instinct than to "natural" instinct. -
So my "ball and chain" has the condition Crocodile feet
Clod Stomper replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in General Chat
I have no personal experience wearing Crocs, but thought I'd pass along a warning. Don't wear them on escalators or anywhere else where two metal parts are sliding in opposite directions. They can catch on both surfaces and mangle the wearers feet. It sounds like an urban myth, but Neal Boortz's call screener (Belinda)'s son had it happen. Personally, I'm with a couple of the last posters. I won't wear something in which I can't run and kick someone's arse. Either that or barefoot. I'm trying to toughen my feet in case my boot soles melt off again. Will -
The vehicle analogy just doesn't work. How often do you disassemble and clean your car's engine? After every trip to the range? I doubt it. There is combustion (same as in a firearm) happening in every cylinder of that engine tens of thousands of times (ok, milliions probably if you drive more than a mile) every time you drive it. Modern powders and primers do not corrode a barrel. If it gets dirty (I mean actual grit) , clean it. If the bore fouls heavily with copper or lead to the point that accuracy drops or pressure rises, clean it. If you carry it through a rainstorm or drop it in a mudhole, clean it. If you shoot old, corrosive ammo, definitely clean it. If it's your carry or defense gun, keep it squeaky. And that's not for reliability purposes. I just want it to be obvious whether my gun has been fired or not. Otherwise, you're probably cleaning too much. Every point that Dolomite made above is valid and has been my standard practice for years. Notice that I did not say not to lube properly or wipe down any spot that you've touched, especially on a blued gun. Keep it lubed, but spare the (cleaning) rod. Will

NOTHING that he would do would surprise me if he's re-elected. But I don't believe that SCOTUS upholding Obamacare did anything to help him to that end. On the contrary, I believe it solidified Romney's election this November. My crystal ball is broken right now, but that's what I believe. Not that I'm a huge fan of Romney, but I don't believe he's a wannabe socialist dick-tater.

Oops, can't believe I forgot Batman. Adding it to my list of to-see's. I like the Bourne series, too. Didn't like the books, but I like the movies. I just don't like Matt Damon's politics.

Looks like there are several movies that I'm going to try to see this year. My wife and I rarely go out to a movie theater (I despise crowds), but I may have to tough it out to see some of these. I'll probably go out to see more movies this year than I have in the last 5 years combined. First and foremost, the remake of Red Dawn. I hope the new director is as much a patriot as John Milius. I think I'll also try to see the remake of Total Recall. I'm a semi-fan of Colin Farrell. The new Bourne movie, The Bourne Legacy. I've seen this guy in a couple other movies. I think he's pretty good. At least it's not that flaming lib Matt Damon. Looks like there's a sequel to Taken. A new Bond movie, Skyfall. I wish Daniel Craig wasn't such a blithering leftist. The Expendables 2. The first one was way over-the-top ridiculous action. Loved it. And what other movie have Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham AND Bruce Willis (big fan) been in together? This one adds Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Jet Li. I MAY try to see the new Spider-Man. And I'll almost certainly have to take Mrs. Stomper to see Breaking Dawn Pt. 2. The last few years, there have been very few movies that were worth paying to see. I'm kinda looking forward to getting out some. Any others I should consider? Will

I agree. And here's another reason. I've seen snakes crawl into the house. I don't care what it is; mammal, reptile, arachnid or insect is not going to be welcome in my house if it isn't supposed to be there. If I'm walking around in the woods, I'll leave a non-venomous snake alone. If it's crawling through my yard toward the house.... And, yes, we also have dogs that will get involved. Either the hunter instinct will kick in and they'll try to tangle with it, or they will be curious and go stick their nose on it. Venomous or not. I like the dogs more than snakes. Will

Depends. Do you have a carry permit? Where are you wanting to hike? Is it posted? Are you wanting to carry a handgun or long gun?
