Keep a couple cheap pool floating mattresses in the pack. Easy to inflate by lung, light, small and cheap. I used one most of a summer sleeping on the ground and it held up pretty well. When it quit holding air, I was out all of 2 bucks.

That's EXACTLY what I've been wanting. Not for the back of the truck, but to stage near the city to get home 50 miles away in case the roads get clogged. One problem may be if all aircraft are grounded (remember 9/11?). But I think one may be able to get by anyway by riding the treetops and staying between the hills. Anyone know what kind of radar signature these things have? EDIT: Alternatively, I'd like to get a couple of these. They fold up to almost nothing. http://www.strida.com/en/main/

That's an impressive muzzle brake.

This.

Is this real? Any gearheads on here that keep track of this stuff? I've been wanting a diesel vehicle to convert to run on filtered (or new) cooking oil. But this would be a nice alternative. Maybe even better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=yjqkHhWUKOU&feature=endscreen EDIT: Never mind. I don't think I'm buying it after doing some more reading. http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/alternative-fuel/gas-mileage/4276846

I think so. I actually remember that episode. We were talking about it the next day in school and the old "teacher" nearly had a coronary.

Had to stay at a Holiday Inn (an OLD one) right smack in the center of downtown Atlanta a few years ago for a work-related class. Didn't seem too bad until a co-worker and I went for a walk. Turned a corner and it was like flipping a switch from "seems ok" to "uh-oh, lets GTFO". Wasn't too far from Underground Atlanta, either, which has a really bad reputation now. In Knoxville, just immediately east of the Old City (yes, going toward Magnolia/Cherry area) seems like a place I wouldn't want to be after dark.

<Sigh> I had one back in the '90's too. Can't believe I sold it. I would love to have one like it again. It was one of the very few guns I've ever sold.

I started when I was two. Of course my Dad was holding the C&B revolver when I pulled the trigger. I'll probably start my now 7-month old when he shows an interest, whether that be two or ten years old. Of course everything will be under my control until I know he is responsible enough to handle it his self.

Sad. And scary. It would just take another executive order to put us hand loaders out of business.

I've heard of Rich Froning Jr. Probably from following Crossfit principles (loosely) for the last several years. The thing about eating healthy is that we've been fed (no pun intended) a load of bull for decades. Our brains NEED saturated fat to function correctly, or so I've read. Vegetarian/vegan diets are not so healthy. They have to be very cognizant of exactly what they're eating in order to supply their bodies with proper nutrition. I don know what Mr Froning eats, but I bet he's not a vegetarian. If I had to bet, I'd say he roughly follows a paleo-type diet, as many Crossfitters do. Which involves plenty of meat as well as vegetables. I think Lester's example is pretty indicative. I'd also bet that if his parents had modified their diet slightly and gotten lots of exercise that they would be in as good a shape as his wife's parents and still have better mental acuity. Looking at my own family, my maternal grandparents were farmers. Plenty of meat and other real food. My grandfather was born with a heart murmur and still lived to 84. My grandmother lived to 93 and was sharp as a tack until her last breath. Will

That's what I do. But the only reason I go to East Town mall anymore is to get a haircut. Last time I suggested to her that she move somewhere else.

Ninth Circuit Rules in Firearms Freedom Act Case
Clod Stomper replied to Clod Stomper's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Oops. I misread my own post. It's too early in the morning. The Ninth ruling was in our favor. You're right about the current SCOTUS being pro-2A. At least with Heller and McDonald. I hope that continues with this case. It's a different issue though. This could involve <GASP> totally unregulated firearms. NFA- type weapons even. Don't know about Montana's law, but TN's covers suppressors. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the SC will hear it and rule correctly. -
http://www.ammoland.com/2013/08/ninth-circuit-rules-in-firearms-freedom-act-case/#axzz2de3fVxi4 "Plaintiffs in MSSA v. Holder are the Montana Shooting Sports Association (MSSA), the Second Amendment Foundation, and Gary Marbut, President of MSSA. To set up the legal challenge, Marbut determined to manufacture a youth-model, .22 caliber, bolt-action rifle called the “Montana Buckaroo.†The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms informed Marbut that any such unlicensed manufacture would be illegal under federal law. Despite Marbut’s BATF-prohibited plans to make the Montana Buckaroo, the federal District Court ruled that the plaintiffs lacked “standing†to bring the lawsuit, and dismissed the lawsuit. MSSA appealed this dismissal to the Ninth Circuit. In its long-awaited ruling today, the Ninth Circuit reversed the federal District Court on the standing issue, saying that Marbut has standing to bring the challenge, but held that existing Supreme Court precedent was against plaintiffs on the merits of the lawsuit." The good news may be that the Ninth Circus court seems to get reversed fairly regularly. But I don't trust the current Supreme Court. Will

They've been really bad this year. I've found several more nests than usual. Today I found another nest and did something I've always wanted to try. I parked a running push mower on top of it and let it run for a while. I'll check the results tomorrow. (PSA TO FOLLOW) BTW, it's a good idea to keep Benadryl, or an Epipen if possible, handy. I wasn't allergic to stings until about 9 years ago. Then I got into a nest while I was way back in the woods and had a reaction. A person I was working with had some Benadryl and I took two. I'm convinced it saved my life. Now I take shots and carry an Epipen.

Never heard of that one. Where is it exactly? And are they posted? Doesn't matter though. I'll just carry past the sign.

Syria - Extremely disgusting...graphic.

Except power over people. And that is what it's all about, ultimately. -
I wonder if West Town is now posted as well. They're both owned by Simon, I think. When I rarely go to a mall, I've been going to West Town. The scenery is much nicer.

I use a 1/4" punch inserted from the "driver's" side. Push the spring and detent in and capture it with the punch. Then push the punch back through with the pivot pin, holding them tightly together. Works well and I haven't lost a part using this method.

The only time I carry unchambered is if I'm going to be removing and replacing the pistol several times. Like going into and out of posted places or going to work out, etc. If I'm out and about with the little'un, I certainly keep it chambered. I can't hold a baby or push a stroller to cover with one hand and chamber a round with the other.

Just a word of experience. Read several load manuals. Then read some more. Read, read, read. Then find someone who lives near you who is willing to tutor. All .308 cases I have ever seen use large rifle primers. So that is what you need. 00 buck in a 30 cal rifle is a fun idea that I have always meant to try, but haven't yet. What powder are you going to use? I may give that a try myself sometime this week. Good luck, Will

Ouch! Glad it doesn't look like permanent damage. Seriously, thanks for the heads up. I've never loaded black powder cartridges, but never having had any unexpected incidents in in 26 years, I've definitely gotten lax about PPE. This has opened my eyes (which I really want to keep) and I will be wearing safety glasses from now on when I load. I've never heard of a ESD mat, but I will probably be buying one of those, too. I guess one advantage to hand loading in a relatively damp basement is that I don't have to worry too much about static electricity. But still... Thanks, Will

The only part of this post with which I disagree... We are already WAY too crowded.

There was a fellow selling AR500 steel targets at a show last year sometime. A friend and I went in together on a couple. Don't know if he's at every show, though. Probably not.
