  1.   If she's on private property, she doesn't need one.  Just make sure she knows how to use it safely and effectively.   And yes, take the dog.   Will
  2. Anyone seen these yet in the Knoxville area?  I've checked a couple Krogers and Walmarts.  I've seen them in Walmart before, but no luck yet this year.   Thanks,    Will
  3. I can give you some brass, too.  Not 300 rounds, but a few.  Next time I get down there I'll count up what I have.   I've formed a lot of brass.  It's a good skill to have.  Very necessary if you can't get factory brass.  But if you can get factory brass, forming is more a PITA than it needs to be.
  4. I love that guy's channel. He makes all kinds of cool stuff. Some of it pretty complicated and scientifical.
  5. I have had two experiences with "modern" corrosive ammo.  One was in the '90s.  It was some Russian 5.56 (this was pre-Wolf) that was sold as non-corrosive, but it was corrosive.   The last time was, of all things, Sellier and Bellot.  This was just a few years ago.  It was some .22 Savage Hi-power ammo.  It was corrosive as well.  Rusted the barrel of an old, take-down Savage 99.  Made me sick.  I never would have suspected it was corrosive.   I don't know if they were just using up old stocks of corrosive primers, or what.  But it pays to be suspicious of Eastern Bloc ammo, even today.   Now, as to running across primers that are corrosive, that's highly doubtful.  I have been using Wolf and Tula primers for a while and they are fine.
  6. My Dad got a metal box full of old (really old) hand loading stuff from a guy at work. There was a fine film of oil on the bottom with stray primers rolling around in it. Just as a test, I seated them and fired them. Most of them worked, some didn't. So if they've been stored halfway properly, they'll work fine. Don't know about the lead-free types. I have heard that they can be spotty. Just don't buy them unless you're goin to use them immediately. I bet you couldn't find corrosive primers if you wanted to. Unless you go to Eastern Europe.
  7. I saw a box on the shelf at a Knox area walmart the other day.  I know it's not close to the OP, but it can be found.
  8.   One issue that I have had when forming cases is not setting the shoulder back far enough.  Then they won't chamber.  Even making sure the die is touching the shellholder, there is enough "spring" in the brass to keep the shoulder from setting back enough.  I had the same symptoms that you're having.  I've experienced this with forming 7.65x53 from .30-06, .300 Savage from .308 Win, and 6.5 Grendel from 7.62x39.   Ultimately, I had to shave down a shellholder to get the shoulder back far enough.     I haven't formed any .300 Blackout brass yet, so I don't know if this is ever an issue.  But it may be something to consider.  Especially if you try some factory brass and don't have the same problems.
  9.   Wait a second.  Was that you that I saw at the walmart sporting goods department at 0600 yesterday morning?
  10. Yep.  That will do it.  Rusted up a bunch of my tools before I figured it out.
  11. John Wayne?  What kinda cowboy name is that?
  12. You need to expand your interests.
  13. Take a look at these. http://www.eparmory.com/Default.asp According to a YouTube video, these seem stronger. I've ordered a couple "blems" and they seem pretty strong. At this point, I would not buy any more blems. The regular 80% are now $50 (they were 100 when I bought mine) and the "blem" is often the takedown pin hole being mis-drilled. I haven't finished one yet, but I hope to in a few days. Will
  14. I handled a S&W M&P 10 at Knoxville Tactical the other day. Lightweight and handy even with a full-length barrel. I liked it. Just wish I could afford one. You may want to check out one of those.
  15. They're not in Tennessee, but I believe that JSE Surplus is owned by a couple ladies.  They used to set up some tables at Knoxville gun shows.   I think I generally hold men to higher standards when it comes to firearms.  They tend to think that they know what they're talking about simply because they're men.  Women are less inclined to do that, in my experience.  I know that I've been fed more BS by guys than by women.   lsmalls, where do you plan to open your business?   Will
  16.   Agreed.   Edit:  I think both issues should be of concern.
  17. If this is true, it was all automated. http://theconservativetreehouse.com/2014/01/16/driving-through-maryland-how-the-lawful-florida-gun-owner-was-targeted-hint-maryland-coordination-and-analysis-center/
  18.   I can not.  I have never even fired an M16 or M4 on auto.  Nor have I used a Battlecomp.     My comment was not directed at you or the BC.  I apologize for not making that clear.  I was mainly referring to the excessive enthusiasm that some have for the latest and greatest because of who makes or markets it.  I have no doubt that the Battlecomp works well for your purposes.  But I have little interest in muzzle deflection and I do have more interest in flash suppression and less rearward muzzle blast.  According to the video that I saw, the BC will not suit my interests.  That's all.
  19. So sorry to hear that.  I'll pray for him.
  20.   That's some impressive muzzle flash.
  21. Here's an easy way to never be taken by whiz-bang, new-and-improved, tacticool BS.   Go to m4carbine.net.  Hang out a while and read.  Pretty soon you'll find out what "serious operators" use on their "serious operator carbines".     Studiously avoid the brand-new "battle" devices that all the "operators" are attaching to their Colt 6920s.   Save money.
  22. I have a PT-99.  It's the same as the PT-92, it just has adjustable sights.     I've never had a problem with it.  Never jammed.  I also had a Beretta.  It was ok, but I prefer the frame mounted safety.  And it can be carried cocked-and-locked or hammer down.
  23. I didn't see this elsewhere yet.   Cop stops to play ball with a boy who is playing by himself.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwCB8E2dJcU
  24. According to this article, FL licensee info is wide open to any LE agency. http://www.nraila.org/news-issues/articles/2014/1/concealed-carry-licensee-gets-ungracious-reception-by-police-in-charm-city.aspx So the cop sees an out of state plate where guns are common, runs the plate to get the owner info, which probably includes a picture of the registered owner. He finds out through FL that the owner has a license to carry. He then hangs out behind, beside and ahead of them for a bit to be sure that the same person is driving. He then decides to violate his rights and pulls him over. I hope Mr. Filippidis gets rich over this. Yes from the taxpayers of maryland. They elected the jerks who pass the laws and hire the "enforcers".
