Good SHTF Survival Fiction Books
Clod Stomper replied to plank white's topic in Survival and Preparedness
Awesome. Just bought the Kindle version. I like reading local fiction. And non-fiction. -
This.

At 14, I regularly carried a gun around with me on the farm. And I had access at home. Not sure what I would done at that age, but I'd like to think that I wouldn't have let a psycho inside the house. At the very least, he's old enough to call 911.

Probably would have been easier to rent or borrow a pallet jack an buy a few 5x7 tarps and had them delivered to your driveway. Edit: made a guess without reading previous posts.

After re-reading this thread, I'm a bit "meh" about the OP receiving his HCP. Just remember... You're not in NY anymore. You chose to move here. Assimilate...

...and more. An interesting read on preparation from a friend's blog. http://bigpigblog.com/2014/05/26/prep-for-freedom-not-fear/

What is it doing? I had a bad MAF sensor on a Nissan pickup a couple years ago. It would stop running when it warmed up. Took out the sensor and it would run. Poorly, but it ran. MAF sensor worked, but was sending a bad signal. It's a hard thing to just replace to test it. Locally, they were all around $600. Found one online for about 100 and its worked fine for about 3 years.

Here's a question... Assuming that the transaction takes place in TN, is the buyer, who is a resident of TN, committing a crime? The buyer would only be buying a firearm inside his state of residence and not crossing the state line. Obviously a seller who crossed a state line to sell would be in violation. But would the buyer? When in doubt, back out. But I'm not so sure it was an attempted sting. If it was, it was a pretty pathetic attempt.

Try this forum. http://steelsoldiers.com/ There is most likely someone there who can point you in the right direction. I've checked it frequently since I bought a CUCV a few years ago.

I second the penetrating oil and screw extractor set suggestions. I've used my set many times. It works.

Did they DESERVE to get robbed for being stupid? I don't know. But they were certainly asking for it. If I climb up on top of my car and surf it down I-40, do I deserve to fall off and get flattened by a tractor-trailer? Probably so. They advertised nationally that they are a "gun-free zone". That's just stupid.

Freechex Homemade Gas Checks?
Clod Stomper replied to Clod Stomper's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Awesome. Thanks. Maybe I'll get a II model for the lower volume caliber and a III for the higher volume.* *When I refer to high and low volume rounds, I'm referring to how much I'd LIKE to shoot. Not how much I actually do. sigh..... -
Have any bullet casters here used this? Specifically the Freechex III. I saw it mentioned over on the 300blktalk forum. I'm seriously considering buying one in each rifle and magnum handgun caliber I cast for. Well, when I can afford to, that is. I'm guessing Dolomite is at least familiar with the tool. Thanks, Will Edit: Oops, here's a link http://freechex.net/

Open carry advocates prompt Chipotle posting

Allegedly someone tracked down the bookface page of Little Turd. Doesn't sound like a gun rights activist. Just an idiot. http://bearingarms.com/long-gun-open-carriers-havent-learned-past-mistakes/ -
Never expected these guys to get it right...
Clod Stomper replied to BigK's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Yeah, they're pretty hard-core libertarians. No surprise there. -
I hadn't seen a fox since I was very young up until the last few years. I've seen two or three since buying a house here off Alcoa Hwy. Competition from coyotes has kept their population suppressed I suppose.

They're extremely adaptable. Heck, inside a city where there are still squirrels, rats and such to live off of it may be better than a rural area. Less likely to be shot in Tyson Park than in a farmer's field.

Justice Dept., Banks Put Choke Hold on Gun Dealers
Clod Stomper replied to gun sane's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Even Harry Reid has been endorsed by the NRA. Don't know their current stance on him. Probably not anymore after last year's big push for a self-loading rifle ban. -
Open carry advocates prompt Chipotle posting
Clod Stomper replied to gregintenn's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
And they're not simply carrying rifles. They're carrying rifles slung in front on their tacticool slings like they're in a combat zone. They have to be plants. Perhaps even unwittingly. They look stupid enough for that. -
No disagreement. Plus there is a better chance of inducing a malfunction when racking the slide under stress. On the rare occasion that I carry unchambered, I don't feel unarmed, just less armed.
-
Just to stir the puddin' a bit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeIZa-25RaM It doesn't really take 4-5 seconds to draw, rack and fire. But I'll carry chambered because I may not have two hands available.
