Are you going to have problems taking it back with you? I don't know Britain's laws involving gun part importation.

Went to range this morning!!! Dissappointed !!!!
Clod Stomper replied to bersaguy's topic in Long Guns
I think Dolomite made a rimless .22 Jet. That's the direction I would look. Load it down to .22 lr levels or up to Jet levels. I've been thinking about this very thing lately. Replacing .22 usage with small light cast loads. -
But not really...

Got made at a wedding this past weekend...
Clod Stomper replied to hlb14's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
So one person is more observant than 99% of the population? He asked a question, didn't raise an alarm, just asked. Maybe he wanted to meet a fellow traveler and didn't want to raise your hackles by approaching you directly. Maybe he wanted to know what make, model and caliber piece you were carrying out of curiosity. Hey, he works at a gun store. He notices guns. I notice carriers more than my wife does. Doesn't mean I want to "out" them. But I can talk guns all day with just about anyone. In my opinion, he noticed you were carrying. He thought you MAY be security. He didn't want to bust your cover, so he asked someone he knows who you are. I don't think it's a big deal. -

This BS has to stop at some point. Wouldn't it be ironic if the hyper-demand for .22 lr caused it to become an obsolete round? Can't get ammo? Don't buy the gun... -
Im Too Old, Just Go Ahead Shoot Me!
Clod Stomper replied to runco's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
That is pretty funny. And I don't think I'm old. And to top it off, I found the couple's name to be humorously ironic. http://www.riflebarrels.com/ -
Which 18" barrel do you have?

Interesting. Wonder if it had anything to do with this http://blog.princelaw.com/2014/05/14/did-atfs-determination-on-nics-checks-open-the-door-for-manufacture-of-new-machineguns-for-trusts/

Did you go today? Is it worth 5 bucks? Sometimes the small ones aren't, but if it is, I might stop by. Won't be selling anything though. Sorry.

Actually, I would trust someone I've trained with in this situation MORE than I trust any moron on the road. I fully expect most people I see to pull out in front of me/cross the center line/run a red light or stop sign or not see me while I'm walking. Paranoid? Not really. I've avoided many more wrecks (not accidents) than I've been in. Then there are the idiots who are absolutely determined to run into you. Can't avoid them.

Thank you.

Sort of.... Sonic asked that "customers refrain from bringing guns onto our patios or into our indoor dining areas,†and Chili's just said “We kindly ask that guests refrain from openly carrying firearms into our restaurants and we will continue to follow state and local laws on this issue.†If that's their final word, I can still pull in to Sonic and order from my vehicle (as the Good Lord intended and as I always do). And Chili's just said "STOP IT and don't keep pushing us, you retreads". I actually don't have a problem with their responses at this point. At first, I was mostly supportive of open carry advocates. But at this point, I'm starting to think they're some of them are plants for the antis. In the words of one famous orator, "let me be clear". I do support the right of citizens to carry handguns and long arms anywhere. At one point in the history of this nation it would not have been unusual for someone to enter an establishment with a long arm. But at this point in time (unfortunately) it is unusual and perceived as threatening. Especially when done with the weapon at "low ready" like the buffoon in TX. The reasons WHY it became out-of-the-norm are probably for another thread. So I'll stop there. Will

Yep. Seems very unsafe, but there is a very small handful of people I trust enough to "break the 180" with. If I know that they are aware and competent enough (and I tell them I'm moving up), I would do it. Without doing something similar, combat troops could never "leapfrog" toward the enemy. By that, I mean one provides covering fire and the other moves up. Someone with actual combat training can correct my terms, please.

Good SHTF Survival Fiction Books
Clod Stomper replied to plank white's topic in Survival and Preparedness
Awesome. Just bought the Kindle version. I like reading local fiction. And non-fiction. -

At 14, I regularly carried a gun around with me on the farm. And I had access at home. Not sure what I would done at that age, but I'd like to think that I wouldn't have let a psycho inside the house. At the very least, he's old enough to call 911.

Probably would have been easier to rent or borrow a pallet jack an buy a few 5x7 tarps and had them delivered to your driveway. Edit: made a guess without reading previous posts.

After re-reading this thread, I'm a bit "meh" about the OP receiving his HCP. Just remember... You're not in NY anymore. You chose to move here. Assimilate...

...and more. An interesting read on preparation from a friend's blog. http://bigpigblog.com/2014/05/26/prep-for-freedom-not-fear/

What is it doing? I had a bad MAF sensor on a Nissan pickup a couple years ago. It would stop running when it warmed up. Took out the sensor and it would run. Poorly, but it ran. MAF sensor worked, but was sending a bad signal. It's a hard thing to just replace to test it. Locally, they were all around $600. Found one online for about 100 and its worked fine for about 3 years.

Here's a question... Assuming that the transaction takes place in TN, is the buyer, who is a resident of TN, committing a crime? The buyer would only be buying a firearm inside his state of residence and not crossing the state line. Obviously a seller who crossed a state line to sell would be in violation. But would the buyer? When in doubt, back out. But I'm not so sure it was an attempted sting. If it was, it was a pretty pathetic attempt.

Try this forum. http://steelsoldiers.com/ There is most likely someone there who can point you in the right direction. I've checked it frequently since I bought a CUCV a few years ago.

I second the penetrating oil and screw extractor set suggestions. I've used my set many times. It works.

Did they DESERVE to get robbed for being stupid? I don't know. But they were certainly asking for it. If I climb up on top of my car and surf it down I-40, do I deserve to fall off and get flattened by a tractor-trailer? Probably so. They advertised nationally that they are a "gun-free zone". That's just stupid.
