  1. What are you hitting it on? I ask because I had one that lasted about 20 years and hundreds of rounds before it broke. I have a buddy who kept breaking them. He was hitting it on concrete. I always hit a piece of wood. Preferably soft wood.
  2. Are you saying that there is an imminent Klingon invasion? That's what I read. Now, where to post this for maximum effect...
  3. It's either counterbored or the muzzle is severely worn from a soldier with a cleaning rod. Or that is the wrong round. I'm hoping for counterbored. And if that target is true, that's probably the case.
  4. I was going to say... What round it shoots is irrelevant. There is just as much machining, perhaps a bit more, in the .22 as in the .357. I'm guessing they use the same frames and probably heat-treated the same (in batches). Plus there is the novelty. I'd like to have one. It should last several lifetimes.
  5. It only takes a few (hundred) idiots to ruin it for everyone. Morons have been flying them around airports, the White House, wildfires, everywhere anyone with any sense would know not to fly a UAV. I've been wanting one too. Sheesh.
  6. Why does everyone use Tapatalk? Is it that much better than the mobile version of the website?
  7. This is the third or fourth article I've seen on the subject of confiscation. They really are crawling out of the woodwork now. I think they feel emboldened, but I can't understand why. I think the far left really does think that it's time to start a "revolution". They really don't understand what they are wishing for. To be fair, this article almost sounds like it making the case against confiscation because it's so far-fetched. But it's the "Daily Kos", so I'm going to take it at face value. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/10/5/1427845/-Effective-Gun-Control-A-National-Semi-Auto-Ban
  8. I also have a RCBS beam scale. Super accurate. An electronic scale really shines when you're checking already-dispensed powder charges. But for trickling charges, I use the RCBS.
  9. Interestingly, I saw two Taurus Curves at the show today. First time I've ever seen one, mush less two, in the wild. I don't know that it will ever be a collectible. But if I knew that they were reliable, and less expensive, I'd carry one. Oh, and I saw a Kel-Tec CMR. Upon further reflection, I think that Kel-Tec collectors may be best off. Their stuff seems to be pretty rare.
  10. Actually, no. Sorry, here is the only place I could find the quote. But he said it. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RYM6UjwwP90 I've always had the best results while being kind. As a matter of fact, we decided to switch to U-Verse because a door to door salesman told us about it. Didn't actually buy it from him, but I listened to what he was trained to say and didn't insult or denigrate him or his mother. After all, he has a job and is trying.
  11. As mentioned, I doubt felons would peruse gun shows too much. Too many cops. And even the dumbest criminals know that it's a felony for them to touch a gun. And there is always the chance that they would be recognized. It can happen. A number of years ago, a friend and I were walking around a show in Knoxville. My friend recognized someone who he knew to be a felon. He quietly told someone (show organizer or sheriffs deputy, can't remember). Don't know how it turned out for the guy. We didn't see a dramatic take-down. Just don't know. But that danger is always there for prohibited persons.
  12. In the mid '90s I bought a Lee Enfield No 4 Mk 1 and a plastic stock for it for about a hundred bucks. Now they're 300+. I bought a couple Swiss K31s for under a hundred bucks apiece about 9 years ago. Now they're about 300. Same with Mausers. Cheap as dirt just a few years ago and now going for 300+. I think the same thing will eventually happen with the Mosin Nagants. They've been cheap for a long time. But the price is gradually creeping up. At some point the supply will run out and the price will start to shoot up. And many people will say "if only we knew!" Well, we do know. I just wish I had a lot more disposable income to buy a few crates full. Look at the Finnish M39. What are they going for now? 250-300? More? I could have bought them at under 200 when I had my C&R FFL. As for non-surplus, you just never know. They high quality stuff will hold value and go up. (Winchester 1873.) The rare but cheap stuff will be sought after by collectors. (The Liberator, as mentioned.
  13. That last fat kid is left eye dominant. He needs to learn to shoot left-handed.
  14. How about an extreme? (Ignoring the fact that any such EO would be illegal and null and void. But of course, illegal laws are enforced all the time.) He signs an EO which does not contain a penalty. Despite there being no penalty some overzealous fed ossifer arrests someone for breaking the "law". He goes to court and is convicted. Is it a misdemeanor? A felony? Up to the judge? Well, it's a federal firearm crime, so probably a felony. No worries, there are no penalties written into Ze Orden. So no prison time. But now he's a felon and can't own ANY firearm. There are penalties for that. Probably far-fetched. But so is this admin. Just thinking out loud.
  15. Maybe a thin layer of silicon sealant?
  16. Me! Me! At least a little of most of it. Except .32 S&W.
  17. At least he was partially correct.
  18. Ok, gotcha. Yeah, a good cleaning will be the cheapest place to start.
  19. I think you're confusing the hammer spring with the recoil spring. A heavier or lighter recoil spring would change the recoil impulse required to cycle the slide. It will not affect how hard the hammer strikes the firing pin. A heavier hammer (or "main") spring will make the hammer hit the firing pin harder but will also make the trigger pull heavier. I would try Dolomite's suggestion first though. Probably just a crummy firing pin channel.
  20. A heavier spring will make your trigger pull heavier. If it used to work reliably, just get a stock weight spring.
  21. Congratulations. Those are super heavy for a 9mm handgun. Are they perhaps light rifle bullets? I'm curious if there is a legitimate load for that bullet for 9x19. Edit: After some searching, some people are using them for competition. Apparently they produce lighter perceived recoil. Because they're so slow. 750-800 fps.
  22. You're missing out on a lot of fun! Just kidding. Sort of.
  23. The only thing messing up that ecosystem was that massive nest of pests.
  24. I agree. I wasn't excusing it. I was saying that a 67 year old woman is more likely to panic and do something stupid. More so than I am, or than a 67 year old Oh Shoot is. She does need to be taught to be careful where she points that thing. But I hear it's near impossible to train irrational panic out of some women. I just heard, that's all. I don't think being a woman should give her special consideration either in the case of pointing at innocents. But I believe that it does happen. Look at divorce custody battles. Who usually gets the kids? Different situation, I know. As far as the act of drawing in the first place, an old woman probably should be specially considered. Disparity of force and all that.
