Eeeeewwwwww.....

I recommend finding an original 10 round mag and using stripper clips. Those aftermarket jobs can be unreliable and a real pain. Not to say that this one is, but the originals just work.

You moved to my hometown. Slow down and stay on your side of the road. :)

In Sevierville? Why? WHYYY??? I hate that county. At least you're not too far from the interstate. Maybe I'll make the trip after the last colorful leaf has fallen from the lowest elevation in the Smokies.

Probably so, but the .32 acp is semi-rimmed anyway, not rimless. -
McMinn County Stockpile for Good or Evil?

Pssh.. I'll make room. -
Just a question... why keep the full-length mag tube under the barrel? It just needs enough for the fore-end to travel.

Walgreens Pharmacist Fired
Clod Stomper replied to spikehunter's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
If you'd made them less than what they paid you (and the other employees) they would have gone out of business. Was your time worth more to YOU (forget the company) than what you were paid? If so, then you would be right to quit. Here is how I look at it. I'm trading my time and energy for something. If I'm employed, I'm trading it for money. And the employer is trading his/her money for my time and energy. If that is not a fair trade then one of us is getting shafted and the arrangement should end. No one, including a greedy business/evil corporation, is my master. We are equals and I treat them as such. The gov is a different matter. We the people are supposed to have dominion over them, but over time they have come to believe otherwise. Edit: I apologize for my wording. I seem to be channelling Sheldon Cooper tonight. Edit 2: Holy Thread Hijack! Sorry about that. Ahem... He shouldn't have been fired, but it was Walgreens right to do so, so I hope a gun-friendly pharmacy will hire him. -
What he said. The only thing I've tried to fit in a 1911 was a safety. It didn't work out well. And I'm not totally incompetent. I'm sure with a few dozen hours practice, I could become pretty good at it. But since I rarely work on 1911's, it would hardly be worth my time. Therefore, if I were to need 1911 parts installed, I'd contact someone who has done it and has gotten good at it. Edit II: plus what 94user said.

Plexiglass. Just kidding. Sort of... I recently saw an old Remington bolt-action .22 with a homemade Plexiglass buttplate. It looked ok.

There is no "watch". What's up wit dat? I'll donate a doughnut or two to my favorite LEOs.

Why does rural ETn seem to be suddenly overrun with these types in the last few years? I guess meth is a major contributor. When I was growing up, there were troublemakers, but everyone knew who they were. Maybe I was just naive, growing up in a small town.

Have you lived in Tn for many Februaries? I'm guessing not.

Thanks everyone. I'll check the two on Kingston Pike first. Those are most convenient. See what it'll set me back. They are glued on and they did delaminate, but one layer has essentially rotted. I haven't even worn them in a couple years, they did that just sitting. I tried fixing a pair of Redwings on my own a few years ago when I melted the soles (actually the glue) on a wildfire in New Mexico. It didn't turn out too well.
-
The soles gave up on my Danner Quarries after about 12 years. I know I can send them back to Danner to be resoled, but it's over 100 bucks plus shipping. I'd rather just add another hundred an buy a new pair. So if I can get these fixed for less than that nearby, I'd rather do that. Yea, I've done a search, but I don't know anything about the places around here. Anyone have experience? Thanks, Will

Keep it safe. I'm just speculating here. Did he gain weight and it doesn't fit anymore? He could lose that weight and fit it again. Like I said, pure speculation. That's a cool gift, btw. It's a shame that he needed it, but you must be a good friend. As far a what to do with it in the meantime, I have no idea. Mount it to a concrete slab and use it to launch water balloons on your neighbors?

He's been burglarized before, so he installs a camera. But doesn't seal a massive hole in his door? And THEN buys a shotgun that he most likely has no idea how to use. A bit out of sequence. And I'd fire those dogs. They're not doing their job.

Sign the petition: remove suppressors from NFA
Clod Stomper replied to daveW's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
And for some, $200 is still a lot of dough. Especially as a tax for something that is required on a car, but restricted on a firearm. I lost $200 cash (Just misplaced it. No idea where it is) late last year and it bugs me to this day. (Yes, I'm a bit OCD.) That's at least a couple weeks worth of groceries for our family. If I'm not mistaken (I often am these days), Dolomite did an inflation calculation in another thread in this thread and came up with a much higher number for a NFA stamp. And I will admit 3550 does seem a bit low for '34-'14 inflation. (Haven't done the calc myself.) Edited to add: Found several calculators online and they all say that $200 in '34 would equal plus or minus $3500 these days. I still think that sounds low, but I'm not that smart. Barely sentient if the truth be told. -
I'm not exactly disagreeing with you. I do believe that it's possible that one may (hypothetically, at this point) be prosecuted for carrying past a non-compliant sign. I just don't think that it would be right. Put another way, either the incorrectly posted entity or the handgun carrier who ignores it is out of compliance. How can both be? It's just my innate belief that the law should be construed to protect citizens rather than be left "open" enough to prosecute someone who is engaging in an activity that is harmless - if it were to tickle their fancy at the moment. I think that if there is ANY question as the the legality of a citizen, then the benefit of the doubt should go to him/her. If it turns out to be a widespread issue (which it doesn't seem to be at the moment) then lawmakers should take it up and spell it out one way or the other. So I guess it comes down to what is, versus what should be, which, of course, is a futile exercise. In short, I agree with you, but I think the concept is messed up. I'm all out of big words today. I think I pulled a brainmuscle.
-
Well, nobody is right all the time. :) Actually, it may well be the case that one could be prosecuted with a non-compliant posting. BUT that illustrates my point. I don't care what the intent of the law is. I care what it actually says. If a sign doesn't say what the law says it should, then it may as well not exist, legally speaking. But a cop or prosecutor may not look at it the same way.
